I'm not exactly a newbie to Farscape, but there was a term I have seen used, shippy, that I was curious about. This seemed the best place to post a question. From context, it seems to refer to pictures or episodes or scenes in which the John-Aeryn love story lines are played out. How did the term shippy come to mean something like that? Is my interpretation correct?

Not absolutely sure about what it entirely means, but I know that the word 'shippy' comes from the word relationship.

Shippers are viewers who have a thing (?) for the romatic relationships on a show, like John & Aeryn or, um, Buffy and Spike:D

I just equate shippy with romantic most of the time, no matter who it refers to:) but, you know, J&A *sigh* I go a bit magra-shippy;)

Okay, I could buy that as a connection. Ship as in relation-ship. I kept trying to think of some connection with the ship, Moya, or some other ship. I just couldn't get it to make sense; the John-Aeryn moments didn't occur just on board Moya. Pretty obvious when you point it out. :goof: <----me in regards to this one.
Thanks.

Froonium is a word that was made up by Ricky 'Froonium' Manning.(writer for Farscape)

Don't know what it is. Maybe chemical/fuel of some sort? Chiana mentions a 'froonium drive' in Nerve.

re: Froonium

It was term made up by Ricky Manning when he was a writer for Star Trek TNG, but he never got to use it there. Farscape is fairly light on the technobabble mostly to distinguish it from other SF shows, so Ricky gave Chiana the line about the Froonium drive as something of an injoke and a dig at other shows.

D'Argo also buries sticks of Froonium in the road with a detonator to blow up Crichton in "Revenging Angel", showing it to be somewhat combustable :p
It always struck me as a kind of fuel, possibly in line with nuclear fuel as far as its use and handling goes? Either that or it's the equivelant of warp plasma from the ST universe.

The very next Farscape technology I was planning to use. D'Argo plants Proto Nuclear Froonium in RA. Although it looks a like like dynamite? Very explosive. Probally unstable. Hmmm...

Must get back to the technobabble thread...

Thanks for the reminder! :)

"Shippy" apparently originally came from X-Files, those who wanted Moulder and Scully to get together. If I got that wrong don't blame me for it... got that from the Sci-Fi bboard. I also don't watch x-files, either.:D

Yeah...I remember that from the X-files boards

Shippers wanted a relationship between M/S

Noromos didn't.

Don't know if the term was ever used before that, though.
