Imagine my surprise and pleasure when I got to the trusty old mailbox today and found not one...not two..but THREE packages! :bounce:

Today we received a BOS1 from Deep Discount DVD, Nerve/The Hidden Memory and Through the Looking Glass/A Bug's Life (also from DDD) as well as a copy of Premiere/I ET on DVD

:D YAY!

That bring the Grand total to:

2 Premiere/I ET DVDS
1 BOS1
1 Nerve/Hidden Memory
1 TTLG/ABL
1 Uncharted Territory Book
1 Illustrated Companion from Season 1
1 Illustrated Companion from Season 2

Can I say again that the military is extremely excited by this project. They are very eager to get these things overseas to the men and women in Afghanistan and Iraq....so let's keep collecting and get those folks some Farscape!!!!

The current total for this project is $135.oo, but that has a lot to do with having to reject donations that are made on credit and debit cards due to Paypal's policies.

Also, we're in the process of moving over funds that people donated to the WMR that they specified for this project. Once that process is complete, the balance will be a little higher.

Gee, I wonder why people aren't more excited by this and the library project? Both are concrete ways to increase viewership. I know I've kinda maxed out with the potential convertees within my sphere of influence, and I'm sure others have as well. Contributing to these causes are great ways to reach more convertees without going up to complete strangers on the street :lol

I love both of these projects and have supported/promoted both as much as I can. They are both VERY worthwhile, promote tons of goodwill and are just really nice things to do. :)

I expect they aren't quite as glamorous as Baskets, Bunniess and Singing Telegrams. "Aye, there's the rub."

We will take anything anyone wants to send. Out at Barnes and Noble and see a paperback? Pick it up and send it out. :) Extra copy of a video? Send it. These men and women are eager and happy to have anything you have to send. This is to be put in libraries all over the place where men and women who are fighting can get it.

Anyone can email me with questions too.

:D Thanks everyone!!!!! (DoA...GREAT pic!!!)

Military Campaign
Ok this is the First time I have done anything like this. So umm... bare with me hehe. I sent an email eairler about an idea I had to the webpage email address. I don't know what would happen with my idea but i figured i might as well see if others think it is a good one. I am in the military and have been to a lot of bases that are isolated. As such the TV they have comes via the AFN network witch altough it tries it just sucks. That being the case people end up checking out videos from the service squidron. Thoughs video are donated so a lot of them are umm... well stupid. That being the case all the good one make rounds around the base and become part of the base culture. Guy sit around all day (in thier off time) watching, talking about and quoting them. Needless to say they become big fans. Those interests also come back with them and the show the friends and families. This has happen with a lot of show i know. I have done my best to spred interest in shows like Family Guy, Smallville and FarScape. It has work well so far, my dorm are big FarScape fans. Ok so after all that i get to the point. If we could get some money to send a few sets of the show to a few isolated places, Navy Ships, and Deployed bases in Kuwait, things like that. I know we could incress the size of the fan base a lot. The more fans there are the better our chances of getting it back. Ok well thats my 2 cents.

The more fans there are the better our chances of getting it back. That's it in a nutshell, isn't it? While I'm 100% behind the wonderful "thank you" and "hey, we're still here" projects (which are important), they really won't do much in isolation. We NEED to increase the fanbase -- provide the exposure that Sci Fi was unwilling/unable to do.

Let's go, Scapers!

Those pics are from a project sending out military care packages. It was in November..and they got so much product that ALL of those folks took home something Farscape. :) My hope is to spread Farscape to as many places as we can...so troops can get it in their libraries for free. In the long run, we DO want more viewers..so there is a demand for the show. :) That is what Mickie and I are trying to do with these projects.

So yeah...GO SCAPERS! I know you can blow their socks off! Besides that, if we can get an EXCELLENT turn out for these projects, it's more chance for us to get press for the campaign. :)

DOn't know if this has been asked or not, but why can't we send paypal donations using our credit cards? Is there any other way to send a donation? Or shoudl I just use the money I was going to donate to go to BestBuy and purchase a couple DVD's?

Twich

This is what Jul posted in the special fund thread about it. I don't know a lot about the money and how it's going..Jul is handling that end.

Just a small note about donating to the Special Projects Fund via PayPal.

Our account only allows us to accept funds that are donated either through an individual's PayPal balance, or using the funding option echeck.

If we receive a contribution through a credit card, as much as we'd hate to, we have to deny the contribution

If you have any other questions, please email me at jul@watchfarscape.com.

Thanks!

Anyone who needs to use their creditcard account to donate to paypal can send the money to my account mickie66er@yahoo.com and I will forward it to the SPF (just make a note on what project you want it to go to)

Mickie

P.S. The money from the auction cleared, so I just moved $63.50 to both the Military and Library projects. That should help the totals a little :)

Thanks to Mickie for forwarding funds! It's a bit of relief. :D

Twich, are you sure you want the books? I mean, they weren't that good so... but I have them and will be more then willing to pass them on. Which do you think it would be more important to get them, the military or the library??

Jul

NYPinTA, how do you feel about sending illustrated companions instead of the fiction books, since you don't feel the fictions were that good? :)

Mickie, you ROCK! thank you :)

Twich

Here are my opinions on the books....

They weren't an ep of Farscape...I agree totally. But when a guy is stuck in a plane for 16 hours with nothing to do, he'll read pretty much anything right? And it may just be enough to pique someone's interest.

The Illustrated Companions are AWESOME and they will be great to go along with the vids because then people will be able to check out the behind the scenes stuff, etc...but when you aren't a fan and you've never heard of it, the paperbacks might be enough to make you pick up a vid and check it out. So there's a place for both.

We do have a goal btw, to raise enough money to get box sets for each squadron and the companion books to go with them. :) We were sorta hoping to try and do all the DVD sets for S2 and the first of S3 for everyone too. Just to give you an idea, there are 25 squadrons minimum here. Anything above and beyond that will branch out into other parts of the military and other bases. We've already had people asking about other bases as well...so this project can be as big or small as *we Scapers* allow it to become. :D

All in all, what it comes down to is that I want people to send what they enjoy and feel comfortable with. :) Feel free to send a note or card. I'll make sure they get those too.

And everyone...THANK YOU! This project can't be a success without Scapedom. You rock. :D

OK, you convinced me. I will dig up my books and send them your way. (I don't have any season companions though.)
Which is better BTW? Sending money so that these things can be bought in bulk or picking these things up individually? I guess if we see some Farscape stuff for a good deal, it's a no brainer.. but what about paying retail. Can you guys get more for the money?
I did just recently purchase for myself the Season 1 box set on Ebay for 49 bucks. The sellor had a few auctions open and closed it as soon as one person bid on it so that each person only paid 49 for it. I asked him why and he said: "I don't want to let people bid because the Buy It Now price is $49. But Ebay will not let you use the traditional buy it now feature until you have 10+ feedbacks. That is why I have to do it this way, it is Ebay's dumb rule. I don't want people paying more than $49, because
that is the price I have set for everyone. If I let the auction go and one person pays $79, and then the next auction only goes for $49, then the first guy who paid $79 feels he got ripped off if the next auction goes for less. So I want everyone to pay the same price so everyone gets the same deal."

I told him to come here because of the two projects going. I don't know if he did though. I still have his email address if Twich or Jul want it.

Boy, I was in a bad mood this morning, I come in here and POOF.... gone.:D

We are currently trying to work with ADV on a deal, but as far as I know, we haven't heard back from them yet. So it's whatever you feel best with. We are going to try to work a deal as best we can...and we will do our best to get the best price with everyone's money (wanting to be good stewards at all) but if you see something like that fantastic deal on Ebay and want to snap it up, then feel free to send it to the PO Box. :)

And thank you VERY much! I'm so excited by this project. You all make me so
