UPN has ordered the SF series Jake 2.0 from executive producer Silvio Horta ("The Chronicle") for the fall, but has canceled The Twilight Zone after only one season, Variety reports. David Greenwalt ("Angel", "Miracles") will serve as show runner of the one-hour drama Jake 2.0, the trade paper reported.

Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo are also executive producers on the series, which comes from Viacom and Roundtable Entertainment, the trade paper reported.

Jake 2.0 centers on a National Security Agency agent who's implanted with computer chips

Oh, great... Just what NSA needs - another robo-geek spilling their secrets. :eh: Sounds like just a place-filler until they pick up Farscape.

I'll give it a chance... the creator did "The Chronicle" and I liked that (another show given the shaft by SlyLi)

I agreee, Rombaldi.... I quite enjoyed "The Chronicle," and SlyLie treated them shabbily, too....

Will give it a chance even if I don't hold out much hope...

I don't see Upn doing great anywhere. Forget tuesdays gapping hole Buffy left. The whole sched needs reworking. Though I am excited about this new series. It sounds good and hey maybe they wll realize sci-fi sells again and look at farscape again if this is successfull.

Early word has it that Enterprise will be moving to Tuesdays at 8PM.

WB is moving Smallville to 8PM on Wednesdays and that would've brought about another drop in Enterprise's ratings. So, UPN is moving it out of the way.

Actually I think on one of my other forums I've been getting too ratings savy . I thought the ratings for Enterprise were mostly Baby Boomers. Smallville will skew way younger and more female then Enterprise. One of the reasons people have cited that Firefly wasn't picked up by UPN becasue it didn't match Enterprises demos (Firefly: younger and more female)so why would Smallville take away from Enterprise? Space show and Teen show aren't really then same and if Trek is going for those younger demos they are doing a hell of a bad job .

Well if that is the reason they are not picking up Firefly then Farscape demos are not much more compatible with Enterprise either, but I still can hope...:)

Since the early rumors of UPN moving Enterprise to Tuesday didn't pan out, the shows are going against each other.

I did a duplication analysis* with Nielsen respondent level data and there are a number of viewers--I'm one of them--who watch both Enterprise and Smallville. And since--IM0--Smallville is the stronger show, I believe it might make a dent. We'll have to see.

While Smallville does skew younger, it currently has a slightly higher rating for Adults 25-54 than Enterprise does. Enterprise has been declining. Smallville has been growing.

Whoever said the reason UPN didn't pick up Firefly was demographics...I don't agree with it. The new show "Jake 2.0" sounds like it's not targeted younger. And UPN would love to have Enterprise itself get younger viewers. Any increase in viewership would be welcome.

There were probably many reasons. Not just one.

Well, Enterprise's ratings are going to do nothing but continue heading south if the writing doesn't improve. I swear B & B must have no respect for the genre that they are dishing out to us.

And, how are Farscape demos different than Enterprise's according to Nielsen, the research source of all networks?

What's the median age of a Farscape viewer vs. an Enterprise viewer? And a Firefly viewer?

What's the male/female split of each show?

MS: I have no sources other than what I have heard on this forum. Enterprise's demographics I believe skew in the older male demographic, while Farscape's demograpics are younger and more female in composition. However someone who has a source with that kind of knowledge will have to verify that.

I am sorry if the post appeared like I knew exactly what the demograpic differences between the two shows.

Anyway, bacchus68's post is the one that originally brought up the difference between Firefly's demos and Enterprise's demos. Since it is general knowledge at the forum that Farscape skew's to younger and more female, then its demographics has characteristics similar to Firefly's based on bacchus68's post. This is what I based my post upon.
