In "Home on the Remains" Zhaan needs meat to stop sporing. Crichton says something to the effect of "Believe me if i could give her my arm I would." This got me thinking, did anyone even think to mention cutting off one of Pilot's arms to save Zhaan, Moya, everyone. It would be traumatic but "Mad Scientist" and "Eat me" show it could be done and pilot would simply grow a new arm. It seems like a big loose end. Did i miss exposition or did the writers?

Pilot may not have meat

I must not have paid that close of attention. I didn't think Zahn ate meat then. hmmmmI'll have to go way back a watch again. I've been too busy listening to the music videos. They're so kewl:cool: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I have two theories. One is Pilot may not be edible. He may just be liquid filled with an exoskellitan.

On a lighter, Pilot might not be in season.:)

I thought pilot might not have meat but in "Eat Me" Kaarvok's clone hordes chop off a pilot's arms to eat them, repeatedly. But Pilot might be more like seafood, the liquidy insides as HL mentioned. Maybe Zhaan just needed beefier meat. Everyone knows how sentient plants love steak.

Zhaan said she needed red meat. I think Pilot is like seafood which is white meat. She only eats meat when she is starved and starts sporing. The spors are a defence when she is not able to move and an animal comes to eat her and gets poisoned by her spores then dies and she eats the animal to get better. I expect that it would be unlikely to happen in the water.

Well I did read somewhere - maybe it was the creature shop thingie in the DVD1 special features...*muses* - anyway, they based Pilot on a lobster, which would suggest that he's seafood and thus white meat as people mentioned above.

maybe it was just out the question because they already cut on off...

Pilot said his race comes from the water, so i tend to agree with the seafood "chicken of the sea" theory...

Why didn't they just stick Zhaan in a transport pod, John's Module, or Aeryn's Prowler, it would have saved Moya alot of grief...

what the yotz are you talking about...Zahn's a plant not a fish....she likes sun...and soil...true she would love the bahamas....

we are saying Zhaan wouldn't want to eat Pilot because Pilot's race is most likely to be evolved from shelfish, seafood, white meat...

Zhaan needed RED meat, thus "if" pilot was RED meat why didn't they just cutt of one of Pilot's arm (it will grow back) and feed it to her to prevent the spores, or stick her in a transport pod for that matter...

p.s. - just a reminder, it's a common fact of life that when we are under stress we tend to overlook the simplest of solutions...

I just watched that tonight for the first time (I missed half of Season 2) and wondered the same thing...

I think the writers went a diffent direction the first intended....as the seasons progressed some definitve changes came along so as she began to sproute she wasn't one of those plants the bloomed...:D being a very smart arse.....:rollin: :whip: :smokin:

that could be true.

in one of the commentaries 1.03 *Exodus from Genesis* (i believe the one done with brian henson and virginia hey) Brian Henson mentioned that originally Delvians were an all female race. When a delvian mated with another species (like pollination) the female delvian would always produce another and only female delvian offspring that looked liked the father's race but had the attributes (plant features, blue skin, etc. of a delvian) he said it was changed because it was a production/continuity nightmare...

I thought it was a highly ingenious concept though. sorry to see that it wasn't feasable.

Nah, I think they're red meat, and therefore, had one been on Moya, Zaahn (sp?) could have eaten it, and all their problems would have been solved.

Am now simultaneously picturing horrible Red Dwarf/Farscape crossover in which John gets in trouble for bring a cat with him on Farscape One, and feeling horribly traitorous to my cats, one of whom is lying, very trustingly, next to my chair.
