Our one, our only illustrious Jul took her credit card, our ad design and a big smile to the offices of the Hollywood Reporter today, and we are now the proud owners of a FULL PAGE ad which will appear in the Hollywood Reporter weekly addition next Tuesday, May 27th.
And wait until you guys see what our wonderful mycattoldme, the designer extraordinaire, came up with! Take a gander at this:
http://www.cathairstudios.com/saturn/saturn1.jpg
That is a somewhat of a rough draft as some very minor things have been changed. But isn't it absolutely wonderful!!! :D
Big thanks to Jul for being brave enough to use her credit card for this and to mycattoldme for such marvelous work!
And of course, a huge thank you to you, Scapers. Be proud of yourselves. This was a wonderful project and we're getting a big, enormous, drop-dead gorgeous ad out of it!

I've been hoping all day to come home to this: full page add (I personally took it on faith it would be awesome--and I was right! :D). What a half-week! Farscape wins a threepeat for best show on television (cable or otherwise IMHO), Browder, Black, Kemper and Manning glitter with the Glitterati, Scapers abound at the ceremony, Tiriel et al photograph (thanks for the pix, gurnemanz!) and interview, and we Scapers, in 2.5 days raise three grand to thank the hundreds of people who made Farscape! A Testimonial to them and us. :aok:
I think we should use any leftover money to buy copies of the Hollywood Reporter and ship them to Australia for the Farscape crew. We did a good thing today, and the goddess will reward :aok:

I just thought of something..
When the X-Files ended, there were a bunch of projects to take out ads in Hollywood Reporter congratulating actors and creators etc. Each group focused on one ad, and they had links up for at least a month getting enough money to run a full page ad. But it took scapers 3 days to get the money to run it!! That amazes me. True, the X-Philes were split between many different projects, but I think it's safe to say there are a lot more of them than there are us.
So... YOU GUYS ROCK!!
It's great being a scaper!! :aok:

My first reaction was awe.......and then I said out loud "OH MY God" really softly and tears sprang to my eyes. This is awesome, and beautiful I really love the picture, the silhouetted people look like they are reaching for the stars.
So Cool! Does anyone know if there's a back order # for the HW Reporter? They haven't heard of it where I live, and I have to get a copy of this one to frame, to go alog with the Variety cover :) Great job everyone, I tip my virtual hat to you.

You know, I felt guilty about 'diverting' funds from the library/military projects because their potential is so great. But, Frell, everytime I look at the Saturn pictures and now hear it said Farscape is no longer 'if' but 'when', I think we needed to make an icon in a periodical to mark the date, the threepeat, to celebrate our community and Farscape: when is now, not if.

And that means, "Applause, how clever, all of you!"
Jul, mycat, Jadeshand, donors . . . please take your bows, this is your moment, and while there will be others, be very frelling sure to take THIS bow at THIS moment!
Because what the events of the last three weeks really mean . . . is that Barry Diller and his ilk are wrong. They do not have all the answers. They are poseurs, and those who lick their boots and fawn are still using spit, not nectar.
There are enough of us who reject Frontal Lobotomy Television to constitute an audience worth reaching.
We will by-ghod be respected, or we will take our business elsewhere, or we will build our own entertainments! We have the skill, we have the will, and we know who to call (and who to ask to make the call).
"Nyah-nyah-nyah-NYAH-nyah, Mr. Smartypants Mogul! Move!! You are in my light!"
And we don't need a frelling home shopping tackiness to tell us what's important in life. The best thing to do with *that* colossal waste of bandwidth, sirrah, would keep it out of sight of the rest of us, but require some attention from your tailor!
Cynics are weak, in the last analysis, because they lack hope or conviction. Their scorn is none of our concern.
Panderers are a slime that evaporates in the strong light of day.
And we who imagine, dream, and would build accordingly . . . are fortunate, now, to be in each others' company.
Yeah, it's a good day. Something is being built, not destroyed. Well done, y'all.
Brian, David - please tell us when we should gather housewarming presents in Oz.

Great job to all involved! The "ad" is very eye catching and touching.
I'm amazed at how this group of dedicated Scapers can pull somthing like this together so quickly! Not only does it show determination, it also shows how useful electronic media has become in any kind of campaign.

As my dear friend ArthurfrellingDent said over at Kansas
I'm getting all misty eyed and stuff!!!!
I was telling my mother about all this the other day and she looked at me and said.
"Tell me do you really think you'll get your show back in some form or another?"
I just grinned (something I haven't done when asked that question for a loooong time)
she smiled back and said "Yeah, me too."

Just stopped in the Brighton, Michigan Borders book (and coffee) store. Found a copy of the May 6-12 'The Hollywood Reporter!"
It's an 8.5 by 11 inch kind of newspaperish looking magazine, about 68 pages total. It says 'The Reporter' boldly at the top with 'Hollywood' in thin handwriting between and over 'The' and 'Reporter.' I almost missed it the first time! But it's here in SE Michigan, probably 2 weeks old, but here. Hopefully all you Scapers will be able to find it! :D

All I can say is WOW...
Again, I've never been involved in trying to save a show, or the whales, only my relative sanity! LOL
As I don't have this vast experience of other fandoms on which to draw, I cannot say that this is an exceptionally rare, I only can say this: If we were running "the world" I'd say that we'd have things in hand and taken care of in short order. Not trying to blow wind up anyone's skirts/pants here, stating what I see...I was in the Army and grew up a Navy brat, and I can say with THAT experience, that I've never seen a more well-organized, cohesive group of folks. If there is an idea, any goofy idea (mine included - "Hey! Change that channel back, I was watching that!") is batted around, refined, and put forth (BraScape, anyone?) into action. Impressive comes to mind, but it falls short of my true feelings, which are so much more than that.
I'm so proud to have been part of this, even though I'm relatively late to all this. Thank you for giving me a crusade and some *more* purpose in my life. Y'all are the best.

Here in Michigan the Hollywood Reporter may arrive a week or so late, but I saw the May 6-12 issue today. I'd be happy to buy as many as I can for redistribution if other Scapers can't find it. I'll follow your adopt-a-scaper thread and see how to work it with as many as I get minus one. It'd be kinda cool if their May 27th issue sells out, wouldn't it? :D
