costume hunting part II

Awhile back I posted about my quest to create Farscape costumes, so I figured I would post an update on my journey so far ...

It looks like I'm just going to have to break out the sewing machine myself for this one ... I can't find any real patterns on the web :(

It looks like they'll custom make stuff for you (if you've got the $$)

And I did find some great looking boots that would work if doing a PK, John, Aeryn or Chiana outfit: http://www.hottopic.com (these are also located in many malls)

I got a really cool pair of commando-type uniform boots from Thorogood. Check out

for some examples. The place I got the boots from was red diamond in Youngstown:

They are quite nifty. And they even have a style called the "Peacekeeper" although it's pretty expensive.

I would add that Doc Martens work great with Peacekeeper uniforms, are fairly inexpensive, comfortable, and were, in fact, used in the show itself. There are some new makes that are especially scapey.

Also, for aboslutely drad (though significantly more pricey) boots that would be very at home in the Uncharteds, check out New Rock boots. There's the official New Rock Store (http://www.newrockstore.com), though you can get much better prices at Vixens and Angels (http://vixensandangels.com/). The New Rock leg shields are great for Nebari gear, by the way.

David Franklin mentioned that his initial PK uniform boots were black Wellingtons, or Wellies. It wasn't until he got promoted to Captain that he got better boots! :D
