Okay, I know this is very early - Lord of the Rings: Return of the King doesn't come out until Dec 17th. However, since a couple months wasn't enough time for everyone who wanted to be involved in last year's fundraisers, I thought bringing it up now might be a good idea.

For those that weren't part of the campaign in 12/02, the LotR/Make-A-Wish project was Scapers around the country holding official raffles at theaters and such places the weekend "Two Towers" came out. Prizes were things like dvds, cds, action figures, and what not from Farscape and other epic sci-fi/fantasy movies and shows. Proceeds went to Make-A-Wish, and it gave us a chance to get the word out on Farscape.

Do we, or do we not want to do something like this again? If so, do we want to do it for Make-A-Wish again? Or another charity? Do we want to do it for "Return of the King" or another movie like "The Matrix: Revolutions?" If that's the case, Revolutions comes out Nov 5th, and there's even less time to plan.

If we wanted to do it for LotR, I found this event of note: http://www.tolkiengathering.com/ Toronto charity event Dec 15th-17th to benefit http://www.proliteracy.org Perhaps we could contact them and coordinate something to benefit the same cause? Just an idea.

The thing is, the last one went pretty great, considering. I myself had to back out due to personal problems that came up, but the people who were able to get approval and venues in time did great. If we do it again, it would be great to do it really big, with Scapers from all over participating. You know, in the spirit of "raising the bar." To do this, we need to start figuring things out now, so people have the time to get approval from whatever charity, find a venue for the fundraiser, and get prizes or whatever -- all of which can take longer than expected.

So, what do you guys think? Ideas? Anything?
