Awww c'mon, just *one*? ;)
Well, after thinking about it for a while, amongst my favorites (TTLG, Nerve, Bug's Life, and Human Reaction) I chose Nerve! :rollin:

I voted for Family Ties, but The Hidden Memory and Through the Looking Glass or REALLY close behind! :)

"A Bug's Life" got my vote.
The "off-topic Captain" scene where everyone has gones, and Crichton repeats the off-topic line was the most amusing to me.

Just one is a problem - - my favorites for season 1 - not necessarily in order
Premier
Through the Looking Glass
Family Ties
PK Tech Girl
A Human Reaction
A Bug's Life
Nerve
Hidden Memory

Well, Selena, if you can't make up your mind for a "best", then vote for the one of your favorites that you feel is most "under-represented" in the voting to date!
I expected this to be tough for people, but I also figured that it would even out.
In other words, I didn't expect any runaway winners.

Yeah, I voted for A Human Reaction, too. I really like Nerve and Hidden Memory, but I couldn't pick just one of those two as my favorite -- it might have been better if those two were counted as one story.
However, it was VERY hard picking just one! Especially since this is my favorite season.

In the order they aired:
Exodus from Genesis (I can never resist an Aeryn story...)
Throne For A Loss
Thank God It's Friday Again (because it's funny. I love Rygels'... trick... at the end..)
DNA Mad Scientist (good Aeryn story)
The Flax (because I'm a hopeless J/A shipper. :D )
and my favorite one of the whole season:
Through the Looking Glass (I think the color thing was brilliant)

I guess I just slut for the episodes that are a little off the wall. I love Looking Glass, Crackers, Scratch n' Sniff and Kansas. I think it's when the script writing really shines and shows that Farscape is so much more then a sci/fi show. When you can write characters so well, it turns to art.

I just watched Through the Looking Glass again and it's a great episode! One of my absolute favorite from season 1. But I gave my vote to A Human Reaction; it really blew me away and made me a complete Farscape-addict. Other choices for the best s1 episode could be A Bug's Life (it has a wonderful paranoidic feel), The Hidden Memory and Family Ties - for some reason I never liked Nerve as much as some.
I also like Bone To Be Wild - the twists are very clever and you really can't be sure, who's the bad guy after all; at least I couldn't.

toss up between DNA Mad Scientist, Human Reaction, and Nerve. But I feell DNA represents the change in the crew, and then later (seasons later) the crew becomes family. DNA gets dark.;)

The Flax got my vote. Two reasons, first that as far as I recall, this is the first time we've seen Aeryn have a sense of humor. (We've seen her smile, but that's different.) Second, I think Claude and Ben portrayed what any sentient being would do in their last minutes of life really well....:D ....and how that particular scene ended made me crack up like crazy! (And I don't laugh out loud much) I see that episode as the first time they get anywhere near each other, other than of course mutually slamming into a bulkhead, and it's pretty landmark to me!
However, I always really liked the "rain" moment in A Human Reaction. :kitty:

I voted for The Flax. John and Aeryn were hot in that ep!
My second would be A Human Reaction just for the scene with John and Aeryn in the room!:D

I Voted for Nerve... I know many might not agree, But the reason i chose it, is because it has so many great elements that push the envelope just alittle bit further. Aeryn's dying, the crew are in turmoil on how to go about something that seems hopeless, and it is the Human, the supposedly deficiant, that has his mind made up before the conversation even takes place. It makes a humans care for another being (Yeah i know she's a super hot babalicious robo babe, and he's in love with her, even though they both arent really ready to admit it yet) that has him up the stakes to brave impossible odds to save someone he cares about without question. John made humans in that moment seem higher evolved than these supposedly superior beings.
Because it also showed the benefits of having lots of friends, some in unexpected places, and the ultimate bennefits of everyone pulling together for each other. This was the main epiphany for the crew in season 1 were everyone was focused on helping everyone on the ship without trying to stab each other in the back and not so much in-fighting amongst each other. Even the king- Er "Dominar" of backstabbing (Sorry Rygel) was focused on helping out. and showed that he was more than some pompus arrogant lil thieving knife-in-the-back bastard.
We are also introduced to a new threat to the crew 10 times worse than Crais could ever be. And also to a new unsuspecting ally with a compunction for lunacy that wears a leather mask with "the wrong number of eyes" (as Rygel Puts it).
This epidose in season one is the prelude to what is yet to come in the future, and i consider it the major turning point in season one (Crew learns the Value of working together, Talyn's Born, Chichton learns he had the Wormhole tech all along). Granted there were other dark episodes with nice additionals, but most of them seemed to me more like fluff filler for the time being until we get to this point. Granted many of those eps were specifically written to give everyone a kind of look into offshoot stories on the main cast's races, methods, species info, and great technological ideas and theory's, but sadly a few of the really good ones from season 1 they left as-is instead of the possibility of dragging up old ep characters and going back and revisiting some offshoot-sequal stories. I would have liked to see a sequal with the illanic's (Luxan genetic offshoot brethren from B. & B. & B. T.T.F.), Namtar's Revenge, (The Lab rat gone wrong from D.N.A-M.S.) Or dredging up the Scorvians again and get to see what they really looked like instead of the outer Ilannic genetic change.
Some of these stories might have been better served for season 4 instead of some of the Filler Eps we got in season 4. one of the eps of season 4 that really spun me for a loop that seemed like it didnt fit with the theme of season 4 was twice shy. especially placing it right after leaving earth. it does really nothing to bridge the episodes of the three-parter unrealized, kansas, and terra firma to the 8 part finnally (I consider it an 8 parter becaused it was bridged together so damned nicely). the only piece of the puzzle from twice shy that bridges it, is aeryn and john get back together at the end faking scorpy into thinking they were calling it quits as far as the relationship. as far as i am concerned, twice shy was a bit of a stretch. the last 5-10 minutes of the ep is all anyone needs to see to bridge the story. besides, i HATE Spiders and a big nasty Mighty Morphin Space Spider didnt seem very believable to me.
Sorry for the Length but i never said i was a man of few words. LOL thanks for reading, and Remember, Farscape Lives in the hearts of it's fans, reguardless of what these network Cronies think, and what these nielsen loosers say. if you love it, then it's never truly dead. keep the faith, and it'll live forever.

This is a tough one. I might be inclined to vote for Nerve or THM, since those are where the arc that defines the series really starts to pick up. But I decided on AHR (which, in retrospect, also has a lot to do with the series-long arc). I love the themes that they're dealing with here, especially the humans' fears about the alien "others," as well as how John gets aligned with the aliens. And, of course, it's got some great John/Aeryn chemistry.:aok:

I'm sticking up for PK Tech Girl. Lot of good chemistry in that episode, and EVERYONE has something to do - John and Aeryn on the ship, Zhaan and D'Argo trying to keep the Sheyangs from destroying Moya, and Rygel with his memories of Durka (nice way they brought him back as a recurring villain later, rather than just leave it hanging as so many other sci-fi shows would have). Plus we have Gilina who comes back, and more stuff about the PKs.

It was hard to pick just one, but I had to go with Premiere. The scene of Aeryn kicking Chrghton's butt is one of the most memorable, for me, out of the entire series:D
My other faves, in order ...
Durka Returns
The Flax
They've Got a Secret
A Human Reaction
Nerve
Through the Looking Glass

My pick was A Human Reaction, mostly because of the effect that it has on the rest of the series. Although Family Ties was a close second.

I went with Nerve as my personal favorite and I think the best of Season 1. Perfect in every way down to the title, which (off topic) is I think the most underrated aspect of that program - the awesome titles.
Honorable mention is The Flax followed by A Human Reaction - because I'm a shipper down to the core!
- Stellar

Nerve - I was already hooked on the show by this episode - but this one is in my top 6 of the series.

The Flax...definatly...
It is an epp that can always cheer me up, plus I just love it when John and Aeryn are about to get close and Stanz and D'argo dock the line "Somebody's docking?!" just cracks me up each time!

I had never even heard of Farscape until April of 2003. We disconnected our cable several years ago when our daughter turned 6.
I rented "best of Season 1" at Blockbuster because I couldn't find anything else. I fully expected another disappointment.
I became so engrossed in these 6 episodes that I stayed up to 3 am watching them. I was hopelessly addicted since then. I went out the next day and bought the entire first season. I rented, when available and downloaded season 3&4.
Getting back to my favorite, would probably be Premier. Every bit was great and seeing premiere as first time viewing really got me hooked on Farscape. I'm glad I missed Sci-fi channel! When John is directed to command for the first time and D'argo and Zhaan turn and look at him gave me chills and blew my mind at the same time. The scene where we're introduced to Aeryn Sun is also a classic. John, the deficient human, saves the day and sets the tone for the next 4 Seasons.
Some other Season One favorites:
Throne For A Loss
PK Tech Girl
Nerve
Hidden Memory, Human Rxn, Family Ties

I chose Till the Blood Runs Clear because it was the first episode that I saw. There may be better episodes, but you can't beat sentimentality when the picking is tough. :D
Plus it was the first time D'argo and John really started to work together.

The Hidden Memory... It has plenty of action, plenty of cool stark and scorpy and the scene between Aeryn and Crais is still one of the best in the series.

I don't know...
TFAL~ don't tempt me
RIB~ Mind frell number two
TTLG~ Rygel Chi Trippy yellow Moya need I say more?
DR~I love Nebari eps for some od reason... Grey isn't my color though :rollin:
Nerve~ PK PIP I've been told I looked like her... okay when I was 15
ABL~I don't know it's been my favorite season 1 ep for a while now maybe the whole sort of inarticulate admission of love thing
FT~ "hey you... John Crichton was here"
TF ~ Um ;)
There are so many good ones.
Premiere: Started it all.
TFAL: Exploding rifles, clumsy Luxan, tempting Fluffy
DNAMS: I just wanted to give Aeryn a hug. Or for John to anyway.
Durka: Chiana!! And Durka too.
AHR: I like this kiss better
TTLG: John adventuring on 4 Moyas!!
Nerve: Scorpy!!
THM: More Scorpy!!
FT: John Crichton was here.
It was tough, but Through the Looking Glass came out on top

I enjoyed the premier myself
I said "Family Ties". I love that episode.
Particular scenes that stand out:
(Spoilers......I guess..)
- Rygel, when he returns to Moya. "And whatever your reaction is, please don't let it involve weapons fire."
- John talking to Crais in the cell. "Kinda makes you feel your own mortality, doesn't it? Being in that cell. That's what it's like for us, every minute, every hour, every day with you riding our asses."
- John and Chiana's little scene.
Chiana: "You saved my life."
John: "Pass it on. When someone needs it, return the favor."
- John's recording to his father. "This is John Crichton, somewhere in the universe."
- The explosion of the Gammak Base and the oil moon.
Those are just my favorite parts. :D

Voted for Nerve. First glimpse of Scorpy and Stark, changes the whole direction of the show, Aeryn/John shippiness, resourceful Chiana, the fact that in FS heroes can actually get horribly tortured and show it. After this ep, Crichton is never the same. But this one was tough.
I guess I couldn't decide between Nerve, Hidden Memory, Family Ties and Human reaction. S1 was goooood!

I think Farscape is about multi-parters above all (for that I would pick those final 4 eps), but single-episode wise it HAS to be "A Human Reaction".

For the single best ep, I think it's gotta be Nerve. That was the first time (IMHO, anyhoo) we saw our characters in really reeelly desperate straits. As great as FS had been up to that point, for me that ep took the show up to a totally different level, something I didn't remember seeing on TV before. I thought there was also some truly kickass acting in it as well.

I haven't read what everyone else has said, but for me it is without a doubt "A Human Reaction". I think that is one of the best episodes in the series, period. Just the interaction between John and Aeryn is great, but then on top of that you have an amazing storyline. Just brilliant.

It's nice to have the support from others as well as a forum in which to share these ideas. Being a fairly new scaper myself, it helps to keep me from going insane over Farscape. I managed to watch every episode over the last month or so, and I've been all over the internet. If I didn't have a place to vent and share what I think, my feelings would probably boil over into the rest of my life and totally frell everything.

"Family Ties"

That is difficult to say. All of them are great. But if I have to pick one, then it is "A Human Reaction". Aeryn tasting the rain.... great scene. But the moment in the safe house... that is so beautyfull! I love it!:)
The only thing I dislike on Farscape is the number of seasons. 4 is really not enough!

Very hard to pic just one and judging by the poll results there isn't a clear winner. Which is a good thing it means all or most of the episodes are solid. My least fav is Bone to be Wild other than when Scorpius askes if there had been any contact from the officer who was escorting M'Lee and there was dead silence LOL that was classic. I love Scorpius' dry dead pan humor, he always manages to throw in a line or two that just crack me up.
I ended up picking through the looking glass. It was just a well done episode. It's a good example of John being more and more of a leader and keeping a clear head. On of my fav moments from that episode was where he and D are in the Red Moya and John acts like he's going to throw up and D says "Oh, no, not here" LOL Also the famous "One Mippabippi, Two Mippabippi,...." "Chiana's restore the green slob"
Again tough to pick one if I had to pick the most critical or important episode it'd have to be a Bug's life with the PT Teck Girl tie in. It holds the key domino to much of the future situtations. When Aeyrn gets stabbed which damaged that nerve it sets up the critical plot point for much of the rest of the series. That moment led to John visiting the Gamak Base, running into Galina, being caught by Scorpius, which lead to Scorpius finding out about John's wormhole knowlege, introduces stark, and also begins the downfall of Crais.

Hi everyone:
I am new to the " Farscape " show. I mean I just started to watch. I just finished watching season one. And it is very hard to tell , because they are all quite good. I voted for " Back and Back and Back to the future " as my favourite then I looked to see I should of voted for the " Premiere " . But I also wanted to vote for the " Through the looking glass " and also if I could , I would of also voted for the " Nerve " and its concluding epside " The hidden memory " . I mean poor John Crichton. It looked so painful for him to be in that chair. I would of done anything to help him out of that situation. I am so glad he had Gillina to help him. She is so pretty and very good . I am glad that she helped Aeryn, as well. But anyway, my final vote was for the " Premiere " episode. For which if it did not exist, we would not have had all these other episodes that I also love so very much.
Yours truly,
Danny Grazer

awww, your honesty brings tears to me! You have only just begun. I envy the joy you have ahead,66 more episodes @ 22 per season. I only wish I were that fresh and new to have Farscape for myself from the very beginning. I have all four seasons. Have fun Danny....it only gets better and better. And each time you see the same episode over and over, you will find even more than you ever saw the first time. :)

There are many episodes in the first season that I like, but 'I, E.T.' just comes to mind so quickly.
I didn't quite get into the show when it first aired on Sci-Fi, but I picked up the first DVD when it was released and gave it a proper chance. 'I, E.T.' struck me in the way that it was the 'flip side' of a typical story, and was so well done that it was really the episode that got me hooked. It was a good indication of what was to come.

Yes, Robin. I completely agree with you. I mean I am watching the Season one for the third time ( I have not been able to continue to Season two . Rest assured, I am certain I WILL eventually . Hehehe ) . But what I mean is that I agree with you about the details. I have to go back to watching season one as I wanted to see some detail about the episode " Nerve " and its conclusion, " The hidden memory " .But I feel like I have to see all of season one again, in order to understand what it is in that episode that I would be looking for. Season one is so chock full of details, that I have to agree with you about it being so full. And yet, I envy you for seeing it before and knowing what goes on, later. I can , hardly , wait until I can move on to see the rest . I am so very excited to know what all the other " Scapers " know about the great show - Farscape . It is definitely my kind of show , like no other show before or since. Because it excites me to watch it more and more. They do things on " Farscape " that I can only dream about in my dreams. The things that the aliens do, also ( like the " DNA Mad Scientist " episode , for example. I mean what the alien did to Aeryn is unthinkable , and so evil. And to think they did not know what it was he was doing until it was too late - for Aeryn AND Pilot . )
Okay, thanks for your kind words. I appreciate them. Really !
Sincerely,
Danny Grazer
"Through the Looking Glass" was my favorite for a number of reasons :
1. Its the first time we really get to see Chiana and learn more about her since her introduction in "Durka Returns".
2. D'argo counting "Mippipipies".
3. Rygel. He was great throughout the whole episode.
4. Aeryn and John defending Moya and their relationship seemingly strengthing at this point, with John telling her "I'd never leave you."
5. The crew enjoying dinner together.
And of course, one of my favorite Farscape quotes of all time :
Zhaan: I've always wondered what lay beyond height and width, depth and time.
John : Nausea.

Yes, I like that one too. I like that D'argo was calling it Mippippippies. I guess it is like he didn't hear it anymore correctly like Aeryn did not hear correctly when John said he was from Earth. I mean , that is why she pronounced it " Earp " John had his back to her when he said it in that cell ( in the " Premiere " episode. ) speaking to Zhaan .
But I was not aware of that last quote about Zhaan and John . I guess it is in an episode that is still to come. Since I am only beginning. ( By the way, if anyone wanted to know I am about to start watching Season two . ) Perhaps the quote is in one of those latter episodes. I mean, as in it came in season two , three , OR four. I can hardly wait to see that.
Sincerely,
Danny Grazer

It's in "Through the Looking Glass". John and Zhaan are in the Maintenance Bay before John's second cycle through the alternate Moyas.

Hi TheEeshew :
I thank you for that prompt reply. I appreciate it very much. Actually , I should of paid more close attention to your post. Since you were speaking of that episode to begin with. My apologies if I caused you to be upset in anyway.
Sincerely,

No worries. I wasn't upset. Far from it, actually. I'm only pleased that I can be of assistance. And put to use my otherwise useless information. :D
And, by the way, it wasn't my post. It was Trip's. ;)
All is good between us.

Hi TheEeshew:
Okay, I am glad that you were not upset. It makes the universe a better place to be knowing that. And my apologies to Trip for making the error of mis-crediting you. I hope it is okay with you. I guess I am starting out on the wrong foot, or something.
Humbly yours,

Hi Nicola:
Whatever makes you think I would ever even DREAM of saying that about Aeryn ? I would never, ever say such a thing. Don't you worry about that !
I just can't wait to get to the part ( I only heard that it happens. I mean, I haven't gotten to that part yet . ) John and Aeryn getting married. I spoiled myself by going on the internet and looking up about John. And also, they have notes on the dvds. The booklets that the dvd's come with said that John and Aeryn got married. There is a site that spoke about John's marital status as married ( to Aeryn ) . I don't know how many times and how many ways, I can say it. But I KNOW John and Aeryn get married, as I say, I haven' t gotten to that part yet. But I know it is what I would want for them to do, also. I can appreciate Aeryn and to be with John is the dradest thing ever. I care about John and I want what is drad for him .
Sincerely,
Danny Grazer

Yeah. Well.
Don't forget that Farscape has the habit of giving the audience what they most want in the worst possible way.
Make sure you have the next DVD on hand (always) before you watch a season finale.
I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'. ;)

Hummmmm this is a hard one... :dunno: It's a toss up between PK Tech Girl, The Flax, A Human Reaction, Nerve, & Hidden Memory . I have to go with A Human Reaction because it was interesting to see how John viewed his own home upon his "return"...Gotta love the John & Aeryn relationship development too! :smooch: When you looking back at A Human Reaction in hindsight, you see how the episode served as a plot catalyst for the rest of the show.
I just realized that all of these episodes I mentioned above have significant John & Aeryn scenes!

It sure is interesting looking back more than three years at what you chose on a forum.

I voted for the Premiere. it's such an exciting introduction to the characters, and I love Crichton in his earliest "what the hell is going on?" mode. That being said, there's probably BETTER episodes later in the season. This is just my favorite.

That Old Black Magic was the ep that really Scaped me. That glimpse into Crais' past threw this character in front of me and suddenly all my interest shifted.
But I voted for the one that made me fall in love with Crais, the one where Lani's gorgeous low voice turned my bones to water and hello! curly hair.
Family Ties it is.
