Dead link (I voted on all five, Karma over here please):D

So many great eps. I voted, but I still haven't seen the last 4 eps, so I couldn't vote for one of those. I absolutley loved the end of Bringing Home the Beacon. Johns ranting about Baby & Beacon was just too funny. I also loved the Tell scene of A Constellation of Doubt. That entire episode was great, but that scene was perfect. I had to vote for John Quixote for my fav. It was typical strange Farscape and I loved it.

Sorry, can't vote on this one. Unless everything form Unrealized Reality to Bad Timing with a little John Quixote thrown in could be considered one ep.;)

I watched Kansas for the first time last night. I enjoyed it, but thought they could have done more of the crew running around since it was Halloween. I did enjoy Chiana seducing little Johnny, and making him remember it was his girlfriend.

You know there are great season four episodes when Crichton Kicks, Kansas, and Prayer receive zero votes. I really liked each of them, but totally preferred A Constellation of Doubt by just a slim margin to Unrealized Reality.

PS Really wished I could have voted for more than one, but which would I not vote for then? The horror, the horror...

I watched Kansas the other night for the first time. OMG :eek3:
spoiler follows

Chiana is Karen Shaw!!!!! My jaw just dropped during that scene in the car. The wheels in my head started turning when she said Chiana and little John asked if it was Karen. Ahhh. This was just way too funny.

Was she mentioned somewhere else as John's "first"?

I missed it?

ComfyChair

She is first mentioned in That Old Black Magic, when Maldis as the Fool tries to lure John in by telling him personal things about himself, including to whom he lost his virginity and where (in a 4x4). If my memory is correct, I believe the second reference is in Season 3 Losing Time, when John & D'Argo are trying to prove to each other that the energy rider isn't in them by telling each other truths from their past and they both mention how and when they lost their virginity.

Wonder if Chi is ever gonna tell John?

My boy Johnny, getting out and about with a Nebari and two different Sebaceans (and mind sex with a Delvian). Even Captain Kirk would be jealous!

I think it's more than two Sabaceans (Aeryn, Graza, and whats-her-name spy from the Princess trilogy in S2). Unsure about Gilina. He sure does get around, though, doesn't he? :D "To boldly go where no Enterprise Captain has gone before...."

I think I can help out on Crichton's 'score' of hits and near misses.

This is a reprint from the previous "Crichton's Tryst List" on The Ultimate:

In order of appearance:

Aeryn Sun
Matala
I forget her name. A single kiss to the gal in "I ET"
Gelina
Alexandra Camille O’Connor or if you prefer the Delvian priest who portrayed her
Pau Zoto Zhaan (Oh, yeah! The shared unity thing!)
Chiana (The flirty intro thing, John grabbing her breast in "Clockwork Nebari", the one in D'Argo's body then last one in season 3 when Chiana was possessed by the diseased rider Mae.)
Hassan (Jury is still out. Missing scenes from DVD?)
Scorpius (Anyone who believes that Scorpy didn't screw John metaphorically speaking, RAISE YOUR HAND!)
Katralla
Jenavian Chatto
Himself, NO I DON'T MEAN LIKE THAT! What I mean is when Aeryn was in his body or when he was in Aeryn's body, he did... something in both situations.
Furlow (She stole a kiss.)
and....
D'Argo (Several chances on this one. D'Argo was heard in LATP "Don't blow it for me John!" and "Uh, I'm with Chiana now, John." Then of course the ball thing when Chiana was in D'Argo's body.)

I'll add one more for good measure... Natera. She looked! and touched!

;)

Other stuff that’s happened since Natera…

SEASON 4 SPOILERS IF APPLICABLE:

*
*
*
*
*

For shame Commandant [cleavage] Grayza (already mentioned excellently above) in “What was Lost I & II”
Karen Shaw/Chiana (already mentioned above) in "Kansas."

Mere flirtations with Sikosu in “Crichton Kicks”, the ugly sadistic Sebacean ‘nurse’ on the Scarran freighter in “We’re So Screwed: A Fetal Attraction”, the blond look-alike printhess in “John Quixote”, a man on the anti-feminist planet … “Do you have one of these under your skirt?” in “Coup by Clam”, and … Oh! I forget her name! John’s blond old girlfriend in “Terra Firma.”

And finally the incomparable Fran playing the hand to John’s atomic bomb in “La Bomba.”

:D

He’s a very popular guy in the Uncharteds. :rollin:

I had to go with Constellation of Doubt. For an episode with absolutely no action, I was rivited to the screen. Just such a great gut wrenching episodes for all parties concerned.
Also contains my all time FAVORITE Farscape scene between Crichton and Sikozu. Unstoppable force meets immoveable object. Simply brilliant.

Hot to Katratzi

For the one scene in the elevator where John, wired up with dead man switches to a nuclear bomb(!!!), gets Aeryn to stand on his feet while he teaches her to dance. It was already established that Aeryn makes his heart race (John: "You're dangerous." Aeryn: "Well you better keep away then.")

John Quixote.
It's just so... odd. Plus it brings back old characters, and has Claudia Black playing a humourous role, for once.
Very good.
:stomp:

Close second, though, is UR. It's just very, very, well written. Plus, I love the character of Einstein and the bazaro Moya crew (Claudia Black does a scarily goos Chiana!). :aok:

Like some others, I went with "Constellation of Doubt." I particularly liked the device of having the aliens watching the humans watching the aliens. Nice! And knowing that these were some of the final scenes that they shot only ups the emotional angst factor.

To me, Bad Timing is the PERFECT Farscape episode. It has everything - tense action, a detailed plot, humour, chemistry, more wormholes, and all crammed perfectly into 45 minutes. Nothing feels rushed - you can tell they've taken their time trying to get everything in, and everything rounds up and compliments everything else perfectly, right up until the bitter-sweet end...

The viewer is drawn in. They feel suspense as John reveals his plan. Some chemistry between John & Aeryn to lull them into a false sense of security. Sadness for Pilot, then for John talking to Jack, knowing he'll never return. More tense action through the wormhole back. Then back on Moya. Relief. Laugh at Chiana, D'Argo and Rygel doing the commentary. The viewer is now beaming at John and Aeryn finally deciding to tie the knot, and Aeryn having John's kid. Then, mere moments from the end of the episode and safety, the whole world comes crashing down...

This is the only one I've voted for *ever* 'cause I don't like to pick favorites, and I generally have 5 or 6 favorites per season. But this ep was sort of revolutionary in that it was both an 'inside' and an 'outside' ep at the same time - there's an internal tension to the episode in that Crichton's looking for clues (albeit in the wrong place), but there are also events taking place in the sidebar.

The television program compresses events (seen and unseen) from 'Terra Firma' and previous seasons into it's scope and moves forward at the same time, with all of the Katrazi business. And for all of it's *seeming* passivity, it still manages to be a character driven script. Instead of Earth or wormholes, Crichton's sole motivation here is finding Aeryn, which is much more immediate than those other carrots.

It needed more votes, and if someone's going to be doing any Hugo or Nebula nominating, it should be for this episode - not for 'Carbon Creek' or 'A Night In Sickbay' or the FS insider's 'Unrealized Reality' or the continuity-dependent 'Kansas' or 'Prayer'.

Edited to add: I wrote that? I must have a smart doppleganger. 'cause I don't remember typing a single word of it, but I basically agree with the writer, whoever he is...

I voted for Constellation of Doubt cause i liked watching the documentary which, i believe, is exactly what humans would think if friendly aliens came to Earth. I also like We're so screwed part three because of the scene where they go to destroy that big plant ( i forget what it is). John realises what he's done when he decides to use his nuke and says "I left a nuclear bomb in an elevator". How i laughed at that.

This was tough, but I had to go with Terra Firma. The scene with Aeryn sitting on the floor in front of the TV watching Sesame Street and singing the ABC's just KILLED me:D Other faves include:

Chighton Kicks
Unrealized Reality
Both of the We're So Screwed eps
Prayer

Bad Timing ... couldn't be worse. I watch the tape over and over again, and will until Season 5. Not since ALF has a network been so ambivalent about screwing so many so badly.

That episode gave a lot of us shippers the one thing that we wanted... the neutralized it... indefinately. Bar none, the best and most dramatic cliffhanger for a prgram of any genre at any time period. Until next season.

John Quixote. I think thats is gotta be one of the best Farscape episodes ever in all honesty cause its just so ingenious (spoiler warning) when John thinks that he's gone back into the real world when realy he's still in the game. I also love Aeryn as the princess cause for once instead of playing the deadly serious sensible peacekeeper she becomes a ditsy busty flirtacious blonde.
Its nice to see a change every now and then

I saw that this thread had been bumped, and returned to it to see what the results were, having forgotten that I had already voted, etc., etc., though I'm reluctant to vote on things like this, b/c I don't want to pick a favorite episode.

Lo and behold, I'd not only voted, but written a bit about the ep that I voted on AND written a brief, loopy commentary on why the ep was so strong - I suppose I was emphasizing why the one I picked ought to be chosen for an award nomination...

I went with Bad Timing, although I could've picked La Bomba, Crichton Kicks, or Terra Firma, with about 6 others close behind. Season 4 ended so strongly; that's why is was so painful when Bad Timing ended. Dargo's reaction summed it all up nicely. How could I not vote for an episode with that kind of emotional impact? :)

I think I voted For WSS: HTK but there are so many good season four eps that I like JQ, UR, Kansas, prayer, BHTB, BT, WSS:3
BTW: I realy liked CK because it didn't tie up all lose threads neatly in the first ep of the new season to PARAPHRASE Natira, I wouldn't have respected them otherwise. Loved WWL, ISTFIA, okay I am about to list the whole season. But I didn't much like LAMST or MAAT but there are always are eps like that.

Love that scene. Says Farscape to me.

I couldn't agree more !!! It says Farscape to me too !! God, I just love this show !!!!!! :)

I loved that elevator scene in "Hot In Katratzi" !! And I don't know if you noticed but in most of my fave eps anyways, there's always a scene like that (like that elevator scene...) that makes it a special episode or at least a special Farscape moment. I just like that !!! I always enjoy watching Farscape because even the eps that are not my fave eps have always some moments or some lines that makes it a special ep. And that's for that that Farscape is great !!

My fave eps:

Too much to name but if I had to name only one ep, I'd choose : "Bad Timing".

It's a truly beautiful episode both sad and funny and of course heartbreaking (do you remember Ka D'argo cry??, and I think I don't need to speak about the last scene ???!!)... Everything I love about Farscape is in that episode !

I'm so eager to see the mini-series, you can't even imagine :)

I guess really this one may have only been easier to pick than Season 2. Season 1 didn't have as many candidates for me and 3 has always been obvious the moment I saw it.

CK: John, on a ship, with a red, white, and blue DRD, drinking. You go boy.
WWL Pt. 2: Made me a D'Argo/Jool shipper
LAMST: D'Argo and John banter is the best
Promises: I would watch it again and again just for the J/A reunion scene
John Quixote: Another crazy one. Gotta love that.
ISTIA: Everybody's little. that's great. And Scorpy has a sarcastic side!
CbC: John in drag. That's all I've gotta say.
UR: Putting the science into science fiction. Really makes you think. And watch over and over. I love it.
Kansas: Earth!! Yay!! The Moya crew on Earth. Great times.
TF: Modern Earth!! Yay!! Greater times
TS: I'm just glad that Aeryn and John finally kiss again
Prayer: Back to the UR!! So hard to watch Aeryn. Almost makes you miss the Aurora Chair. Almost.
WSS Part 1: Action! Guns! Stuff blowing up!! All for the girl. And the best reintroduction of a character Farscape ever had.
WSS Part 3: Nuke in a field of flowers. Crazy stuff.
BT: What a way to go out. So much so right about this episode. And then it ended.

But, like I said, I had to go with UR.

Voted for WSS3. The climax of the exciting, complicated multi-parter. Everything I love about Farcape is present: great plotting, insane dialogue, J/A, funny comments, PKs, Scarrens. Perfect. And I love the tag. That makes FS different from every other show. Crichton is messed up by what he's done. He doesn't escape unscathed.

It would have been BT, but I cannot bring myself to rewatch the last 2 minutes of it. Not until the miniseries and I see that everything turned out all right (or as all right as it ever does on FS).

There you go! I'm the first person to vote for what was lost part two. It narrowly beats out Kansas for me, because right from the moment when Sikozu comes into Chiana and Jool's cell, it's a rollercoaster ride with one great moment after another. The look they give the guards. 'Not that I don't trust you. But I don't.' 'Does my butt look big in these pants?' 'skelnak!'. The change in the colour of the film when the planet is restored. But primarily, when Elack is plummeting towards the planet, and you see his pilot still in control of the dying ship saying 'we must be strong'.. that was one of the most moving things I've ever seen. And the incidental music, particularly in that scene, is terrific.

Afarscapefan
07-10-2004, 08:39 PM
The top three for me were: Crichton Kicks, John Quixote and Coup by Clam.

I voted for CK. It had the advantage of being associated with the end of a long drought from FS, the discovery of multi region DVD players and last but not least the kindness of T who lent me her DVDs. Apart from that it had the splendid intro to Sikozu. Way to go Raelee! Was that a record for getting Crichton into a compromising position in his misty module? 1812, the concept and the music is brilliant in this episode - this could lead to a spinoff "A DRD and his man". And Ben was in top form as usual, I like him in his laid back Crichton role, not that I don't like him in his other roles.

JQ as a rule I don't like the mindscape episodes as much as the others but this one worked for me this time. Special mention for Claudia Ms-steal-the-screen-from-everyone-else Black as the Pwintheth because that was priceless.

CbC sort of grows on you. At first I was very critical of this episode and felt it was clunky and lacked the expected timing. OMG when did I become a TV critic? Like most people who watch TV: I turn on, tune in, enjoy it, turn off. Now I mull over it. Buy the DVDs. I love these sort of episodes the best; where the actors act outside their normal character, because that's when the breadth of the actors theatrical skills are freely exposed under the spotlight. No type casting. No interference from bean counters giving us what they think we want. TV the way it should be. Rockne and his cronies are pure evil for messing with my mind - but hey don't stop!

Sponge

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to see either Hot to Katratzi or La Bomba yet - which is a right pain as a love action eps!

Of the others - well it's either Crichton Kicks, I Shirnk therefore I Am, or Terra Firma. I voted for Crichton Kicks, though - the ep where Sikozu makes her entrance was too good to pass up. But any of them that have Scarrans in are good for me :D

No way to choose between Kansas, Terra Firma and A Constellation of Doubt for me? That's what I just love about this show, it has so many aspects that it can attract people for so many different reasons.

That's one problem I have pimping tapes? What aspects attract me, might not attract another person who might love eps I wouldn't send out as pimp tapes.

Someone explain to me again how this show didn't get better ratings? It really has something for everyone to love.

There are lots of good threads elsewhere about the ratings.

I'll go with the "bad timing" theory for the poor ratings. This is the one based on the premise that potential scapers are party animals and they were all out partying instead of in partying watching Farscape. We were doing our own thing when suddenly, out of the blue, they decided to count the eyeballs ....

Vinity wrote "it has so many aspects that it can attract people for so many different reasons" and may I add that's in just one episode.
:D

Though I haven't seen pretty much the latter half of the season, I said "Crichton Kicks". I really really love that episode for some reason. It's just so good! I guess 1812 realyl pushes it over the top.

Terra Firma wins for me, with Constellation of Doubt running a close second. Loved them dealing with Erp issues. :)

I liked LA Bomba just because Crichton realises he had been had by Harvey to rescue Scorpy plus he was going to blow up the Scarren base! totally unhinged Crichton lol!

I haven't seen three episodes of this season (the only 3 eps i haven't yet seen!) so 'Kansas', 'Terra Firma' and 'Twice Shy' have not been included in my vote. If it was possible, i would have voted for all 3 of the 'We're so Screwed' trilogy but as it is not possible, i voted for the last of the three, 'La Bomba'.

I loved Crichtons 'i am an American' speech in La bomba.
Absolutely priceless expressions on the faces of his audience, especially Aeryn. She has complete faith in him and supports him with just a knowing smile.

My favorite part of John Quixote was Princess Aeryn's accent! It was priceless.

Constellation of Doubt, with Crichton Kicks a close second. Both episodes just keep going at a breakneck pace, even without a strong Aeryn presence. And both alter the way the ending credits are shown (which I always find thrilling, just because it's so rare that they do it). And they both suffer from the same flaw: lack of commentary!

Bobby's videotape not only lets us see how other Earthlings see our crew; but it also lets us glimpse our guys in intensely private and poignant moments (Chiana in the bathroom; Crichton on the stairs and in the cargo bay discussing Aeryn with his sister; and Aeryn's sweet moment putting presents under the tree;) The "real" camera rarely gets as candid.

Also - can't beat the cameos by David Kemper and Brian Henson.

I chose "Bad Timing". A very touching episode!

Of course, like the previous 3 seasons, there were many great episodes from Season 4. :)

Holy shit, Kansas had the funniest scenes with Rygel hopped up on candy, that could make me laugh over and over again.

I liked Bad Timing because it had lots of good episodes but it also made me really sad cause it was the "last episode". So it was one of my favorites but also one of my least favorites
