Hi there,

I hope I'm doing this correctly!

I'd never even heard of farscape until a few months ago, when my husband (who apparently had been wanting to get into the show for a couple of years, but who'd never found the time) decided he was going to start taping the show reruns every night.

Fast forward a couple of months and now we're both hooked! My question is this -- what's the current status on bringing the show back? I take it SciFi's not intending to bring it back, but is any other network interested in picking it up? Anyone have any news at all?

I'm sorry if I'm asking very obvious questions, but as I said I'm new to both the series as well as this website.

Regards,

Jeenobeano

Welcome!

The answer is: we don't know. We're hoping that we might hear something more affirmative after the Henson Company gets back into the hands of the Henson family, and they get to shop it around to other networks.

Please stick around and read up on the campaign, and what we've done here- write some letters to Scifi and Viacom! Get involved! We need your voice!

It's great to see someone new to the show, too, as we need more and more and more fans. (sound greedy, don't I?)

Welcome, jeenobeano!:hi::D

Current status is...hopeful. We've had no word to cease and desist any of our activities; in fact, all Scapers were told by David Kemper (exec. producer) less than a month ago to 'keep it up.'

The Henson Company was bought back from EMtv (which played a HUGE part in the cancellation) by the Henson family. Good news for Farscape, because Brian Henson fought for years to get Farscape on television. He never quit; an excellent example of bullheadedness we can all emulate:D

I think we have to keep in mind that we're probably going to be the last to know about a renewal, not to torture us, but because there are SO many things that have to fall into place before Farscape comes back on.;)

We are targeting Viacom, which owns Showtime, UPN, etc. Look at the 'Courting Viacom' thread sticked at the top of the Campaign Strategizing forum. There's a wealth of info in there.

Welcome to the board and have fun!:bgb:

Thanks so much for the quick responses!

I must say, I didn't realize that the creative forces behind the show were as pro- bringing at back as you've implied they are. That sounds like good news to me. I'll have to tell hubby that not all hope is lost. :-)

And let's not forget -- Brian Henson has stated publicly in the past month or so that the end of the story needs to be told. He has confirmed his commitment to Farscape in no uncertain terms. IMO, it's a question of when, not if :aok:

So, get your hubby to help you write letters to Viacom, Showtime, UPN, etc. and especially let them know that you are new to the fandom! (And then start converting everyone you know :ewink: )

Welcome aboard!
