View Full Version : PO BOX update for our non-internet group of fans...

I'm posting to ask for some help/suggestions.

Akimbo and I have been talking about mailing out updated info to the people who have been calling the 800# and writing the PO BOX to get info on the campaign mailed to them. There are about 200 of them and we didnt want to leave them dangling. :)

Basically what I need is for people to remind us of what has happened since 4.22 aired (cause that is when the majority of people called the number and wrote for info). Cause we would like to add as much info (as 37 cents will pay for) to the updated info packet.

Was also thinking about adding something like a magnet, bookmark, etc. to keep the campaign in their minds, cause I'm sure its easy to forget if you dont visit this site daily (like me :) ).
*This idea I wont be able to achieve on my printer though, so we would need a volunteer to do the printing.

Also, we are going to request that those still wanting info send Akimbo a SASE ahead of our next update so that we wont have to pay all this postage to mail to people who might no longer be interested in getting the info.

***BY THE WAY, the number and PO BOX are still open, cause we will be using them for some upcoming cons (the first one will be the Origins con next weekend). :aok:

If someone picks out the bookmark, magnet, etc. (one of myccat's?) I'll do the printing.:D I've got plenty of laminating sheets and ribbon thingys for the bookmarks and mounds of business card magnets we can use.

eta: News- Henson buying the Henson Company, Docu Dot's coverage of the Saturns.

You definitely need to tell them about the sale of Henson back to the Hensons. Also about the Saturn awards and DocuDot's coverage.

Just my 2 cents....:D

You should also include a list of the relevant upcoming Cons.

Also, magnets are kind of heavy and bulky for envelopes (particularly those being hurled at great speed through processing equipment) -- you might want to stick with ribbonless bookmarks or stickers.

Don't forget FS winning the Genre Awards (clean sweep), and there are FS nomination for TV Gal Awards:D

I know it's nothing certain, but if you want to be thorough you could mention Viacom's interest in the SciFi Channel, or at least that Vivendi wants to sell it.

Otherwise, the Saturns and Henson sales are definites. Cons would be good too.

Have DK or any of the other cast members made any particularly moving or hopeful speeches/publications lately?

I know there are some nice introductions/afterwords in the season four companion; if copyright isn't an issue, it might be nice to include a few quotes or something just to remind the PO Box guys that we're not working against the wishes of the creators, and that they appreciate what we've been doing.

How about the congrats on the Saturn ad we funded?

Will keep thinking,
Scape'

Ok, so for "new" info we got:

Henson sale
Any ads that have been placed since then (fill me in on them, I really dont remember).
Congrats/thank you baskets to Henson's offices (LA, NY and GB...did anyone ever do Australia?)
The ice cream that was sent
Winning Saturn award - and docudot coverage (maybe we could quote a "thank you" from that info, but I'll have to check on whether or not that is allowed).
Convention updates
Viacom interest in channel/Vivendi wants to sell
Farscape winning genre awards (SciFi Portal)
Military and Library campaigns
Cookbook volume II
Farscape mags last issue...(there were a lot of thank yous in there as well)

Adding something like a bookmark, magnet, or sticker.

Keep it coming cause I know I'm missing things.

Oh yeah, the info and addresses for the networks will be sent to them again...and also some advertisers.

I'm going to try to get a rough draft together this weekend.

LilOrion: Sorry didn't see this earlier.
The footage is ours and someone posted a transcript of the "Thank You" video. So feel free to include that :) You could also point them to docu-dot, should they want to check out the video (but don't normally spend a lot of time surfing the net and might have missed it's there).

Getting that darned DVD done is proving a lot more difficult than anticipated (now There's a surprise!!! :D) I pray we get it ready before ComiCon, so we can take some along and offer them at the con (if there is enough space we might also include other info) and hopefully hand Ben and Ricky on to take home :)

I hope we will reach some more "off-line" people that way :)

Oh, and how about that piece where TVGuide says Ben really SHOULD have been nominated for an Emmy?! (and generally TVGuide's continued support)

Great job, btw! Thanks for putting in all that work

Love and Peace and Good News :)

You might want to double check with akimbo, but she's planning on doing a poster and/or calendar from the images from the cookbook.

I would urge the non computer savvy to go to their local library, sign in for an hour, and give them the www.watchfarscape.com site addy with some pointers on where to go.......like to the archives, and to this bboard.
I recall the sense of awe I had when the site was redone how it is now.
Basically do some pointers for them......maybe "Farscape for Dummies":the computer world. I don't know, just a good idea. Don't forget the cookbook......that's pretty inspiring :)

Just so you all know, I havent forgotten...just got a bit side tracked. My parents went away on vacation and I got to watch the little bro, (well he aint little (17), but at that age where he can get in trouble if he doesnt have an eye kept on him).

Still writing it up, and trying to make sure I havent missed anything that happened in the past few months.

I'll post it here when I am finished.

:D
