View Full Version : An ebay seller came forward for the library projects...

Hi all! A lot of us have been buying DVDs for the library projects through ebay. I know every time I finished the transaction, I've let the seller know exactly what they were for and where the DVDs were going.
Well, the latest one took the bait.;) He's got sixty DVDs left from a lot of over 200 he's slowly been selling off. He's offered his 'buy it now' ebay price of $5.00 on all of them, but the best part is, HE'S TAKING CARE OF SHIPPING COSTS.
Before you get way too excited, they are all the Premiere DVD set. But still, that one volume would be an excellent start for quite a few libraries (60!).
The stickler is, I can't afford to pay the costs up front and wait for Scapers to take 'em off my hands. We would need to get a bit of cash together. And, of course, guarantee them six ways from Sunday.;)
So, good idea? Bad idea? I'm sure his magnanimous coverage of shipping doesn't extend to the DVDs going to 60 different cities.;) So, if we went ahead with this, I'd have him ship it out to savefarscape.com or perhaps he'll agree to ship them to two different addresses; mine and savefarscape. That way those that want to donate to savefarscape can have their's shipped directly, and those that want them for their local libraries can receive them.
The seller is dvdpricebusters and here's a link to his feedback page. http://cgi2.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=dvdpricebusters
Is anyone familiar with this seller? Almost 14,000 positives. That's pretty good.

Thanks akimbo:D
I'm willing to go ahead with this is others are. How about we give it a week for donations? I'll contact the seller to see if he's willing to wait a few days for payment (don't see why not).
Scapers can paypal me if they like at- Then in the message, just let me know where they want the DVDs to go. $5 for each DVD, no shipping charge on the ones going to savefarscape, but they can donate a bit for shipping if they want them sent to local libraries. How's that?
If we want the whole lot, it's $300;)
edited to remove email addy

Thanks, everyone, for your donations. We've had requests for both the civilian and military projects, and a request for a donation to be made in the name of Alex Stansky.
There are a few DVDs left and less than $100 to go. :aok:

Hi RF,
Great job on the deal, but gosh darn it, it WOULD happen this week! I'm plum tapped out till the beginning of the month.:( But do keep me in mind when the next deal comes around. Particularly when it happens at the beginning of the month:D

Jeff, I didn't work on any deal; the right seller just fell into my lap, that's all;)
I'll keep my eyes and ears out, and, once the deal is finished, ask the seller to pass on news of any more deals like this to us. Never know what'll happen.:D He did contact me and let me know sending to three different addresses is fine, just not one or two DVDs to many, which is what we figured.
No new requests/donations, so bumping back up.

So, we're still shy $100, or 20 DVDs -- that's a lot of libraries begging for donations and soldiers overseas who wouldn't mind seeing even I, ET ;) ...

Spending other people's money makes me ssooooo nervous, I'm gonna have an ulcer by the time the DVDs arrive.
Twenty are going straight to Twich, Boston Scapers donated for twenty to go out to their libraries, and I'll let you know where the rest went (depending on Mickie) as soon as they're sent;)
Thanks guys!:aok:

This is faboo, RF! Sorry I didn't read the thread in time to donate, but then again, I may have overspent my budget for this month on the Origins thing... :P

Oh. My. God. Wow. between thunderstorms and my IP being messed up I wasn't online last night.
WAY TO GO SCAPERS!!!!
RF, You can send all the (non-boston) library copies to the PO Box and we'll take care of distributing. I'll warn Jul to look out for them. We'll spread them out. There's San Diago and Louisiana which need more. Ohio has 90 + libraries, and I've been in contact with an Aquisitions librarian for NYC and they say that they'll take anything we want to send them.
These will definitely not go to waste. Incredible, incredible action guys. I love how when something like this happens, individuals just dive in, take action and get it done. I am so blown away.

Didn't hear about this soon enough to donate- but the whole library idea is one of the best- this show is good enought to sell itself. The more people who watch it, the better!:)
Keep plugging away, everyone!
