And I'm not refering to the DRD ;)

I was listening to Washington classical 103.5 ( http://www.wgms.com/index.php ) over the nets today and heard an ad for this gig:

The National Symphany Orchestra and Washington Chorus will be performing Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and Orf's Carmina Burana (two of my favourite pieces) back to back next Friday.

I thought it may be of interest for any Washington DC area Scapers...

Here's the blurb I snurched from their website:

Friday, July 11 at 8:15 PM
National Symphony Orchestra
Carmina & Cannons
Emil de Cou, conductor
The Washington Chorus
Live at the Filene Center

One large scale night of symphony, with two powerful favorites on one program! First enjoy Orff's master choral work, Carmina Burana with conductor Emil de Cou, the National Symphony Orchestra, and The Washington Chorus. The evening is capped with an annual tradition – Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture.

PROGRAM (subject to change)
• Orff, Carmina Burana
• Tchaikovsky, Festival Overture, 1812, Op. 49

Tickets can be ordered via the web site.

Edited to shamelessly add campaign stuff: Perhaps any of the afore-mentioned Washington-area Scapers could show the classical world our stuff! (Or at least write the NSO telling them why we love 1812!) Anyone got a 1812 toy to give them? :D

Mods: Sorry if it's in the wrong forum...
