I was thinking....... (You can stop laughing now! :D )................................................. .................................................. .............I was thinking about DVD mags. Couldn't we send letters to them asking that they do an in depth article/review on Farscape?
And I'm not talking about sci-fi or fantasy mags, but about the big DVD mags you see in every store.
There are lots of DVD movie freaks that buy movies every week that never heard about the show and don't usually watch sci-fi movies. But FS is so much more then sci-fi. And if the mags make that come out in their article I am positive that many many many people would buy the Farscape DVD's.
I don't know what the mags are called in the US or wich ones are the most common. But I'm sure you guys do.
So what do you say? Is this a waste of time or...?
Or has this allready been done?
Lots of scaper love/ Roland :)
I think this is a great idea and the potntial to reach more would-be scapers:bounce:

Couldn't hurt. We could try targeting one, and make that a "to-do" item on a Friday. Unlike The SciFi Channel, magazine editors DO try to pay attention to what their audience is telling them. At the very least, it should persuade someone on the staff to at least check the DVDs out. We can let the usual Farscape magic take it from there.

what would be better would be to get henson, ADV et all to authorize a dvd mag to include one episode (hey how about undressed?) as a freebie in the magazine .
there are several dvd magazines that include cult , public domain and limited versions of popular movies for free with the purchase of the magazine ....
imagine getting tens of thousands of free promotional copies out there " infinite possibilities " I think !! the campaign could consider placing another ful page ad re the giveaway in the magazine or in variety to co - promote .
now this may be impossible but damn the possibiliites !!!

Good idea 1812 rocks!
But I think "Undressed" has to much spoilers. Why not "Premiere"? No spoilers and a really good episode. And maybe the early season 1 interviews with Rock and the cast? :)

I like the premiere idea with the cast interviews. Widescreen Review is a HT Mag but does tons of DVD reviews each month.

I was thinking "Undressed" because ADV doesnt yet have the rights to it so less hassle than something that they are allready selling. Plus spoilers aside it does a really good job of describing a good portion of the series. Plus I'd buy it :O)
Creation has footage I'm sure but would cost $$ to transfer it to dvd plus they are all about the $$$

contender does have the rights (to undressed) but I'm assuming that they are only for europe and possibly asia I was thinking of the north american market were ADV is the licencee . Becuase as good as it to promote Farscape Everywhere I think theonly place that matters is in north america. Becuase if Europe was an indicator the PTB must have seen its popularity in Britain et al.
anyhow back on topic hows about we compile a list of magazines and a firm plan for letters requesting this to come to fruition.

here is a message I posted to a group frequented by an ADV employee , maybe he can plant the seeds of this idea with someone who can make it happen.
I'm part of the savefarscape campaign as I'm sure many members here are and the other day we came up with an idea that has the potential to help generate interest in bringing the show back with the added benefit of increasing awareness (and sales) of ADV's current and future Farscape releases.
the idea started as getting some DVD review magazine to include write ups of the various ADV farscape releases. I modified it to having the magazine (to be determined) to include an episode of Farscape as the free dvd giveaway with an ideal "episode" being the Undressed special . Ideal because you guys havent yet put it out (no competition with an existing product) and hence fewer rights issues. There is also significant fan interest in NA for this episode, thus equaling good sales of said magazine and thus ADV exposure (ADV could of course plan ads in said magazine) The savefarscape campaign could likely be pursuaded to advertise the in the magazine as well.
If ADV did the mastering of the said giveaway issue dvd you could place trailers, ads, and previews on said disc.
If you could possibly run this by the PTB at ADV maybe someone there could run it by the PTB at Henson and get the ball rolling.
And of course anyone reading this with any pull at any sort of scifi or dvd related magazine...

ok I'd really like to get this done , problem being my local bookstore is for shit ie no dvd magazines with free discs.
if you have one that is still published , post the details and we can start the letters.
I tried asking for help on a dvd forum but they were useless.
North american books being best uk books also good though

apparently there are no magazines that give out free discs with the magazine(S) at least in north america so if you know of any
magazines (worldwide) please post the relevant info here and
I'll draft appropriate letters.
I like the idea too much to let it die.
