Vegwedge, you ask a perfectly reasonable question.
I would answer thus:
The BBC is very well known, and has great cachet, not only in Europe but in the States. We really want FarScape to be known, to be noticed, to be seen as viable and with potential enormous profit for whatever company ends up putting it back on the air.
This is a very easy and inexpensive way for us, as 'Scapers, to keep FarScape in the public eye, to keep reminding company executives that FarScape, and 'Scapers, exist and is active, and to keep rubbing SciFi's nose in the fact that they made a horrendous blunder which will echo in their coffers for years. They are going to be kicking themselves for a l-o-n-g time.*grin*
We are not going away.*laugh* FarScape has won the poll every week since it has been on the list. Every single bloody week. EVERY week. And always with at least 25% of the votes. EVERY WEEK. People will take notice. Yes, it might be small beer,*grin* vegwedge, small potatoes, but it all adds up in the long run.
Basically, we are advertising.

What does that mean? I vote every day. Are you telling me my vote doesn't count, or that it doesn't matter? That the results don't show the effect of my voting?
It rather looks to me as though you are trying to disavow the results posted, and diminish the relevance of opinion that is shown.
You need to know I am aware of that disavowal, and I don't appreciate it. At all.

A poll is free publicity...PERIOD. It has no less value or meaning per its "age group"....Everybody should also remember that the youth market has just as much, (if not more) potential profit to be gained than the so-called adult demographic....
From the 'Scaper viewpoint I think it is doubly important to show that Farscape appeals to ALL DEMOGRAPHICS......anyone who would discount any poll is not looking at the big picture. Most of our best films and shows today ARE targeted to cross ALL age and demographic lines.

Really? This link was up at Kansas a while ago and loads of us over there (including me) vote frequently. CBBC is a kids & teens site, but all ages vote in the polls.

"At the moment", eh? They do have an irritated edge to them at the BBCi don't they. We've won every moment since late July, and will continue to win every week until we get our show back! Maybe that's why they don't put our favorite stars up. They think the celebs from Farscape will win every week too. Then Farscape will dominate the polls, and that.. is, well, I guess, all too true.
We don't get no respect from them. We'll keep winning the poll and eventually, maybe, our persitance will erode their annoyance and they will put a Farscape picture up on their board. Let's all ask 'em for one. Do they have a comments section or can we just pencil it in somewhere.

I wouldn't get too cocky about besting Buffy yet. I doubt that the Buffy fans have found this poll yet. When they do, expect to get overwhelmed. :( Not to be a spoil sport but lets face it, the Buffy fan base is HUGE. I suspect the BBC intentionally put them on the poll in hopes to try to force us off of it or at the very least to topple us off of the top spot. Next week will tell.

I've noticed the total number of votes have been steadily dropping as the weeks have passed. We had a peak back in August at a little over 1900. Lately we've been hovering at a little over 1400. Right now, we are only at 1340. BBCi may just retire Farscape from the list as the all time champion just to get the fans of other shows interested again as they have seemed to have fallen off as they don't see any real means of unseating Farscape from the top spot. Not a critizism, just a heads up that that might happen in the near future.
