Yeah, there are a few who've checked in. One, I think our most frequest rep, is off on the east coast.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the Colorado Scaper group. If you ever have any fundraising ideas let me know.

Hey, I'm from Colorado! I'm currently living in Boulder.

I have a residence in Aurora.

If all these Scapers live in Colorado and near denver why the frell can't we get enough people to do a farscape meetup?!?!

just curious.

cuen:confused:

ShaneVG

Probably because the fans are spread out (Springs, Denver, Aurora, Boulder), and the meetups are nice and late (well, relatively speaking - 8 PM) on a weeknight...

Third EYe
08-26-2003, 07:39 PM
Yes ShaneVG, for me this is the reason. I am usually asleep, or kicking myself for not being asleep at that hour. I think we and I mean "we" here at the savefarscape web site that live in Colorado will have to come up with something, rather than depend on the meetup thing. Some people like it during the week cause they party, fish, watch sports, play with kids on weekends. I understand that. I just can't do it during the week.

As far as being spread out, I don't see a problem, we can switch meeting place every month, or two months or whatever people decided was a good interval.

Winter is comming up, and I remember cuendillar had planned on having some people over to view the final ep of Farscape, I think it was the final ep, I hope it wasn't, anyway, the last new episode to date. I didn't go because of illness, then storm, I between the 2 I was locked in my house for 2 weeks, or 10 days. What I'm saying is that it will get more and more dificult to effectively plan anything dependable over the winter months. So somebody smarter than me get thinking and submit some worthy suggestion. I'm all up for a meetup, just not on a weeknight at 8pm.

Well,
As the cookie crumbles I'm am starting to realize that this actually might work. I did have a Farscape party for 'Bad Timing.' I'm sorry you missed it. We had quite a time.

So if anyone has a suggestion as to the place we should have our gathering within the next few weeks then spit it out. I'm a full time student and I'll need to do it in evenings or late-afternoons. Weekends are good too. Although there is the problem with transportation. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I'm too poor to have a car. Metro Denver is easiest. Though if I could ride my bike I would be happier! :) (meaning boulder valley somewhere) I hope to hear people's suggestions.

Oh! A friend and I are thinking about attending the convention in November in Burbank. Any other takers?

Hey! I live in Wyoming, but I'm only about an hour away from Denver. If you guys set up some kind of FS party, I'd definitely like to be there!

Third EYe
09-02-2003, 07:01 PM
OK, who's got the ideas?

Wyoming huh? Cool. For a drive like that, I would suggest a weekend date, cause an hour is a long drive, and I think it's a bit more than that. Maybe I'm wrong (again)

Alright, I suggest, ( I have been forced into this) a weekend date, like a Saturday or Sunday, cause those days usually fall on weekends. Now, morning, noon, or evening type hours? I don't care, all are good for me, even Friday eves are ok. I usually only work 4 days a week anyway.

Where? Anywhere that doesn't serve alchohol unless it's your home. I don't go to bars, not that this would be a good place anyway, noisy.

I know there are concerns about travelling, so maybe we meet in a diferent area each time, whether that is a home or a restaurant/diner type place.

Let's get cracking with suggestions and any can't do's from people, gas ain't getting any cheaper (actually it is, but I just wanted to say that)

HELLO!

My house is volunteered. Its in Boulder... pretty central. Ofcourse I'd have to check with the roomies' but I'm 99% sure they'd say yes as long as its on a weekend....and...I dont have any exams or papers due the next week. suggestions for dates? afternoon and evenings are best.

As for Wyoming? Well its not THAT far but I would estimate more like 2 hours depending on how close to the border you are.

Sounds like we have a place. I can bring DVDs...

Now we need to find a time. Considering how spread out folks are, I'd suggest a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, I have classes on some Saturdays (6th, 20th, 10/4, 10/18...)

Maybe we can figure out if we want to do anything for any of the conventions (LtColKiraNerys mentioned one to me, but I don't remember what it was called). Starfest Demver (http://www.starland.com) is April 16-18, 2004 (heck, that's almost right across the street from me - I will have to remember!).

Helloooo, So the lowdown, actually a couple of meetups have happened but I think most of the others besides ltcolkiranerys, whom I will now refer to as 'Kira' ;) don't frequent the boards much, last week it was just Me, and 2 others, if Kira, Capt April or Dana showed up they never found us, oh well, maybe next time. So getting together in Boulder would be cool with me, even though I live pretty far. I too can bring DVD's up to 3.4...etc. Weekends are probably best for me as well, even though I have my kids on alternating ones... Why dont we all give weekends we have more or less free...

I am free:

09/13
09/27
10/4

and maybe 5ish pm for start since that'll give us time to see a couple of epi's hang out and get ThirdEYE home intime for his beauty sleep :rollin: and Zegota back to Wyo. [bout an hour away? how fast do you drive? :ewink: it's only 100 miles or so...]

I think we should really try to make this happen, it's a lot of fun meeting other 'Scapers in person.

I went to Scapercon and I plan on going to Burbank as well...

So?

Third EYe

thanks for your concern DentArthurDent but beauty sleep won't help, I need a surgical coma.

Still sounds good to me. Weekends are the best, 5 ish works, unless it don't.

Hi there, DentArthurDent,

What actually happened is that my car was up on jacks in my in-laws' driveway waiting for some replacement brake pads, and the battery in my mother-in-law's car died just as we were getting ready to head out for the Meetup. In other words, Murphy's Law happened.:O

well frell, it wont let me poll. I PM'd everyone who has a reply on here, should I run it up the flag on the main board, or is this enough? Kira, do you know how to get hold of TurtleBack, Dana, or Leah any other way than on the meetup comment board? I don't have their emails...

Let me know...

Chatted with Cuen for a few minutes this evening. She's a bit under the weather.

She also thinks she may have a previous commitment the Saturday indicated...

I know this will happen, but it may not be until October.

I hope it works out for everyone else, It would be cool if we could get this thing off the ground regularly...

Hope everyone else can get together...

My Saturday schedule got a little messed up for October.

I'm free from class on the 11th and 18th as well as Nov. 1.

I can bring a little portable DVD player which should work as long as the TV (or VCR hooked up to the TV) have the standard Video-Left-Right-Audio inputs...

And I can probably scare up whatever else we need.

Saturday Oct 11 looks good. I'lll just check with the roomies and clear it through them. Is my place still the site of preference? And yes...it would definately be in the afternoon/early evening.

Do we just want to gather and watch Farscape? Or is there some divine plan we need to come up with?

Hey there, my name is Leah. I'm pretty new so I'm just gonna dive in here. I've met DentArthurDent and TurtleDisc at the last Meetup. I think I have met a couple others at a previous Meetup, but I don't know the screennames. I won't be able to attend 11 October, but let me know if you are able get another one going; looks like fun.

If anyone needs a lift from Denver, my Neon's small but it can haul a few folks...

Since it looks like there'd only be a couple, we'll need to put things off again. Besides, our hostess has some tests next week she really needs to study for. Darn busy college students.

Unfortunately, her schedule looks full for awhile. Of course, we could probably get her to attend if we can find someplace else to have one of these gatherings....

My small apartment wouldn't fit the bill.

Well frell I guess we're back to 'why so difficult'? I might be able to have something at my apartment, like a lets watch 3.5 or something, but I live in castle rock, not exactly centrally located...
give me some feedback for the 25th of october...november is pretty much out for me because of Burbank and vacation and thanksgiving...
