Hi, I've fallen behind a lot with my letter writing recently because of RL. So I was wondering if anyone could give me a quick update on who the best people to write to are? It's going to take ages to search back through posts and emails, so if anyone could quickly tell me which companies we're supposed to be targetting right now with pleading letters, I'll get back on the case :) I just don't want to be writing to anyone who has already made statements that they're not interested or anything like that. Thanks! :)

Hi, marauderpilot! Welcome back into the fray

Conventional wisdom has it that the people to target are still Mel Karmazin and Summer Redstone at Viacom, and the various PTB at UPN and Showtime. I personally also think it's worthwhile to write a nice letter to Henson to remind them that we're still out here.

Maybe someone has an updated address list for these people handy that they could post here? If not, I'll try to do it when I get home this evening.

Thanks for that, I'll start gathering addresses back up! :)

Akimbo's letter from UPS in positive responses -- Have to add UPS to the responders - and they need to be on a to do list!!!!!!!! (Have they ever been on one?)

"Thank you for your recent letter regarding "Farscape" on the Sci-Fi Channel. Your letter makes it clear that you are dedicated fans of the show, and that's the sort of view conviction and interest level we seek when purchasing television advertising.

The SciFi Channel's decision to cancel new episodes of Farscape in 2004 was certainly unfortunate for its fan base. If the show is reinstated or moved to another network, we will most certainly consider buying it again for UPS advertising.

Thank you again for your passionate letter, and we wish you success with your campaign to save this show.

Sincerely,
Rick Radermacher
National Advertising Manager"

CDW

CDW did two ads featuring WORMHOLES and ROCK,PAPER, SCISSORS. Coincidence????

quote:

I'm not much of a letter writer so I went on CDW's site and wrote them a letter through mediarelations@cdw.com and got the following response:

My name is Jennifer and I work in CDW's Marketing/Advertising department. I was forwarded your email from our media relations group and just wanted to send you a heartfelt thank you on behalf of CDW for taking the time to write such a nice note. We were thrilled to hear your wonderful feedback on our 'Farscape' sponsorship.

Thank you again and warm regards,

Jennifer Mancini

CDW advertised during the following new episodes:
Twice Shy (both showings): IT Support
Mental as Anything (12AM): Computer Equipment
A Constellation of Doubt (8PM): Computer Equipment

Notes: CDW has provided *extremely* positive feedback in the past, and has been running a series of commercials lately that have themes suspiciously similar to Farscape - wormholes and Rock, Paper, Scissors. This might be a good thing to ask people to talk about in their letters.

Thank you for contacting us about Old Fashioned Quaker Oats.

Comments about our advertising and the air time that we buy are important to us. They affirm our standards regarding the types of television programs we sponsor. There are many ways of measuring success, but none are as satisfying as hearing directly from you.

Your point of view is important to us. We have shared your comments with our Marketing and Advertising staffs for consideration as future advertisements are planned.

I am writing to thank you for advertising on the episode #412 of the television series Farscape, on the Sci-Fi Channel. Please consider contacting UPN or the Sci-Fi Channel about advertising on a fifth season of Farscape. You will also receive a letter from me in the mail soon. My family has been relying on your Old Fashioned Oatmeal since I was little and now with my own family. We appreciate an affordable, healthy breakfast alternative like your product.
Please consider our request and we will continue to buy your quality foods.
Thank you,
