The Savefarscape.com table had a few special visitors today, but I have a special message for all of you from a member of the Henson family. Heather Henson stopped by the table and she wanted to make sure that all the fans know just how much the Henson family appreciated all the support you’ve given them - the letters, the emails, and they were especially touched by the gift baskets. All of the Henson family shared the gift basket that was delivered to the LA office.

She was extremely sweet, very, very touched by everything the Farscape fans have done and all of the support you’ve all given them. You’ve all done a wonderful job, you’ve all put so much heart into this and it does matter, it does have an effect, and you’ve built an amazing, positive community that has become so important to so many more people than I think you realize. Congratulations to all of you, you’ve all done amazing things and you continue to do amazing things and I hope you know it.

We have more news on the con coming, but I thought it was important you get that message right away. We have more to do, Scapers. Keep being creative, keep being innovative, keep being positive, keep putting your heart into Farscape, the fans do make a difference and you are an important part of getting Farscape back. Keep focused on the things that matter.

Wow, that was really sweet of her. :) I'm thinking of sending them a congrats card for August 1st, when they take control of the company again..... very gracious of them, in the midst of all their other work, to take the trouble to make sure the fans hear this. Yay again for the Hensons!

Great quote, Red, by the way!

That was a very nice thing for her to do. I've always been confident that we were doing the right thing with the campaign. This is just proof positive that our efforts are working. Very inspiring message indeed!

Aww!

See, that's what's wonderful about this campaign. As soon as we begin slacking off, or wondering if we're being heard, or just succumbing to our worries, something like THIS happens, and we're right back on track.

It's so wonderful to be a part of a group that's so easily inspired.

I  that Ms. Henson (and the Henson Family) gave the campaign a thumbs up. (And the panel did the same thing - also very cool.)

We do have to celebrate Henson Independence day from home and at ScaperCon. Wonder how we could do that at ScaperCon? Hmmmmm. Rats! I'm not going to be there. :(

Akimbo! You're not going to ScaperCon??? WAAAAAHHHHH!!!

Red, thank you so much for posting this! As everyone said, it was wonderfully sweet for Heather to take time out of her busy schedule to stop by the SaveFarscape table! I've been pondering what to do to commemorate August 1st, aka Henson Independence Day, and I think I'll send them a card or two. As for what to do at ScaperCon, hopefully better heads than mine are contemplating this even as we speak. If nothing else, we'll at least cheer and drink a toast to them at the banquet!

Better yet, how about on August first we spend money on their licenced items (could be Muppets stuff too) and then send them messages (cars, telegrams, whatever) letting them know we did so, in celebration of their new ownership?

(why let the florists make all the moolah? ;D)

Just to put nmes to faces -- I did snurch this from the Henson site, but I thought it was important to remember that people at the top of companies are just like us, not just names...in all my years of watching their productions, I never got the sense that the Henson Company thought of their viewers as a nameless mass. That says a lot.

And remember, they are Scapers too! :D

Just wanted to chime in as well. Can I just say, the Henson's ROCK! :groove: Thank you Heather!!

I had the pleasure to work with Sesame Street LIVE! quite a few years back... in fact, I was hired shortly after Jim Henson passed away. Needless to say I was sobbing for days. :cry2: Especially when I called the tour manager & got the answering machine, & it was Jim's voice as Kermit. I'm still tearing up as I write this. I vaguely remember seeing bits of the Wilkins coffee commercials (albeit in re-broadcast/re-runs or whatever) on my hometown NBC station WRC-TV where they 1st aired. It made me feel connected, in a local way, to the beginnings of a great entertainer. Hey! He was from around my home town! How cool was that? :blob:

I am just eternally grateful that the incredible talent & genius of Jim Henson continues to live & flourish in so many ways - through the company, through his wife & children, through everyone who's been touched by one of his creations. That this love, caring, gentle humor, music & more is touching our lives in so many ways. The fact that one man's creativity has touched us all here on this board & brought us together as family is a testament to his character & spirit.

One day soon, I hope to be able to work in some capacity for the Henson Organization (Aug 1st is quickly aproaching!). ;) What better place to work & what better sandbox (in the best playground there is) is there? In the meantime, I will be as best of a supporter to them & their projects as I possibly can. The energy we feed into the Save Farscape (& other Henson projects) will only feed right back to us. :sun: A wonderful & harmonious symbiosis.

(side note: I just went on a Muppet purchasing frenzy! hee-hee!) :surf:

Very true and very well said, VM. There is just something so magical about Henson that it is little wonder that that same magic rubs off onto Farscape and the people connected to it. Thanks.

BTW, Grover has always been my favorite Muppet :bluenana:

AnnieBW
07-23-2003, 05:46 PM
Hey, VodelianMage! Are you still in DC, or did you move away to a saner locale? :D Of course, you know that Jim's alma mater is the University of Maryland. I still need to go down to the campus and take pictures of the Jim and Kermit statue.

As for the Henson magic and Farscape, it's very evident in the actors that they hired. Anth, in particular, is a huge Muppet fan and got a tour of Muppet Central when he was first in L.A. I can just see him acting like a six-foot-tall kid in there! :D

:hi: AnnieBW!

Yup... I finally settled in another insane location, after 4 yrs of tour, then 5 yrs in Vegas, then 3 more yrs on tour... now I'm on the left coast in the Valley (as in San Fernando). 1/2 my stuff is still at 'home' in N VA... & a bunch of friends as well. It's hard being bi-costal, but I'm managing.

There's a statue of Jim & Kermie @ UMD? Very cool! Could you send or post a pic whenever you get around to it? That'd be tres cool.

Hey Dominar - one of the guys on my Sesame Street LIVE! tour was a young kid named John who played Grover. He seemed to be scattered all over the place, so we gave him the nickname of "Grover all over." Hadn't thought about that in a long time. SU-per Grover! :blob:

Our cast used to watch Sesame Street on TV whenever it was on & guaranteed... if something funny was going on w/their character, they would call 'round & say "Did you see what I was doing?" It was great! Sesame Street TV viewing as character study. What fun. I miss that.

CARS?!?! Now yer gettin carried away jirrl!!! :D :D
(watch it with the typos, they have driven people to bancruptcy :D)

I think the entire family is a class act. I have repeatedly claimed that I have never before been a fan of any show. Well, that was a lie. Now that I come to think of it, I was utterly hooked on the Muppets. I would go out of my way to be able to watch every week and I don't think I'm quite over that show yet either. I think once I got my Farscape back, I'll be starting a "Bring Back The Muppets"-campaign! :bounce:

But seriously, I am so, so, so happy the company returns to the family. Brian Henson spent many long years to get Farscape on the air because he believed that it was a great show and that they could really show off their abilities. And that's the artists point of view, you wanna show the world what you can do. And I think they did, too :D And because of that quality I believe in the long-run it will also pay off financially, because with quality you build a loyal fan-base and one that can grow. And I think because of its quality Farscape will still look good in ten years and in 20 years :)
Just like the Muppets still look good after all these years :D It's done with passion and appreciation of the viewer and that's why it raises such a passionate response in all of us. You just don't get that stuff a lot anymore, so when you're lucky enough to find it, you'd be frelling stupid to let it go! But to actually come by our table and tell us in so many word...woah! It's amazing to know that there are still those out there who respect their audience!

And Hell, I'm looking forward to all the new stuff that'll come out of Henson now! We got some good times ahead of us :bounce:

And now I'll bugger off and stop being all sentimental and stop hugging my Kermit muppet and go and print some more post-cards :D

Love and Peace and Precious Memories

About ScaperCon...I'm just wondering...I'll have my camera along, would it be nice to have a huge room full of Scapers shout
"Congratulations to Hendipendence Day!!!"
into the camera, make a video-clip of it and send it to them with a bouquet of flowers or something like that?
Just thinking that would make it so much more personal :)
But I'm afraid there'd be no way to get it to them on the 1st (which is that Friday) unless we'd have a very good plan witha lot of logistical coordination of the highest order...

What about email, T? Is it a digital camera? One that has video capabilities? Put it on disk and send it to them as an email attachment on the first?

Tiriel
07-24-2003, 11:43 AM
SB: I'm afraid my video-camera doesn't have a fire-wire port, so I need something that has an S-video connection (or a composite connection). There are "bridges" that connect to USB ports on a PC, but I don't have one (I have a DVD-recorder at home, which I usually use).

Well, I'm guessing in the very least we can send it to them later, but it would be cool if someone had a bridge we could use with a lab-top and then email it to them.

Then again, if someone has a digital camera with video-capabilities and a firewire-port that would be all we need! This doesn't have to be broadcast quality after all :D

T, I PM'd you on this.

Generally, if this is a decent idea, we should start a thread. I do not have a digital, I use film, but In conjunction w/ on hour photo and calling in favors, it could get done. The real question is, is it worth a lot of effort, some effort, or only if it's easy?
