I hope this isn't a stupid question. I'm a new Scaper, have been addicted since the moment I heard, "Uh Canaveral" (thanks to sampler discs left at a local bookstore, part of this movement I believe) and rushed out and bought the Season One boxed set. Followed quickly by picking up all of season two.

But I'm confused. Seems like none of my local stores carry the discs, or they sell out. Going on line I get confused . . . 3.1, 3.3, Volume 3 . . . The naming of the volumes this time out has really confused me.

ADV's site is even less help. I don't want to buy out of order, and I don't want to acccidentally buy the same disc twice.

Not all of the discs have the episodes listed by the retailers either . . .

So where do we stand? What's the most current season three disc available?

Thanks. Be gentle. I'm new.

Welcome dpamac :bigwave:

You are not the only one confused about that, I think I have it straight though. I believe they've released season three in the US in two different forms:

1.Collections
2.Single DVDs
(there may be a box set available someday, but personally I can't wait :D )

I've bought the collections, which are 4 or 5 episodes to a 2-disc set and are labelled as a "collection". There will be 5 collections all together numbered as 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 (which is all that is out right now). 3.4 is due in August.

The Single DVDs have 2 or 3 episodes on them (or half a collection). I believe they are labeled Season 3: Vol 1....so there should be six single DVD volumes.

At least that's how I think it works. Does that help?

Hi and welcome to the site! That is so cool how you found the series!

I second akimbo's response. The double discs are worth the money, in my opinion.

The episodes on the discs are:

3.1:
Disc 1: Season of Death, Suns and Lovers,
Disc 2: Self Inflicted Wounds I, Self Inflicted Wounds II

3.2:
Disc 1: ...Different Destinations, Eat Me
Disc 2: Thanks for Sharing, Green Eyed Monster, Losing Time (yes, three episodes on this one)

3.3:
Disc 1: Relativity, Incubator
Disc 2: Meltdown, Scratch 'n Sniff

That's all that are out at the moment. As akimbo mentioned, the next one is due out in August some time (or is it September?) -- usually they put one out every two months.

That makes perfect sense! Essentially, the two-disc sets are exactly as the previous seasons had been. Thanks guys. Placing my order now. Devouring to commence soon.

I'm amazed that I'm almost caught up with the release schedule. Though it's killing me. Knowing that the series "ended" and not reading anything about it. It's actually quite painful.

It was pretty cool how I found the show. I'd always heard about it, but my crappy cable service never carried Sci Fi. Of course, now I have satellite and there's no more Farscape and SciFi is more like the horror channel.

I'd been seing signs posted around town touting the fourth season and then saw the little packet of VCDs with six episodes and the Primer from this site inside. Like I said, I put the first disc in, made it to the title sequence and decided I needed to watch it in its fully glory and immediately bought the full first season set.

And now I'm addicted . . .

Awesome, dpmac. May I ask what city?

Also, I hope you passed along the VCDs and primers, or at least left them conspicuously on a park bench somewhere! ;)

I'm in St. Louis.

And yes I did redistribute.

In fact, I contacted the email address and a couple more sets sent out to me and dropped them in a few more places.

I had a feeling I'd find you here. Thanks for putting those discs out. And it's still nice to see the signs on telephone poles periodically. Makes us smile when we find one that's still up.

<ENTER LORD SLOTH>

Howdie yall Frelling Dren-Heads (I wish I could say that to people on the street but they would just think I was nutters)!
I is a new newbie (FMD newbie that is, I've been obsesed with Farscape for about a year) with a new dvd related question. I thought it would be best if I didn't create a new topic in order to keep things clean.

Ok, so I finally got obsesed enough to want to own it all and all that came with it, so I bought all of season one last june. <sigh> those were some good times re-living that, and I even got most of my family (especially mother) "into it". But after that evil cliff hanger we're eger to see more; so enough personal history and on with the question:

IS THERE ANY FRELLING OPTION TO BUY FARSCAPE IN FRELLING WIDESCREEN AS IT WAS FRELLING WELL MENT TO BE SEEN? I mean honestly, throw me a bone ADV. I know it's still an awsome show either way, and I'm acutually not losing any more then half of what's cut of a normal movie, but it still drives me nuts whenever I see one of those beautiful CG landscapes and know that I'm not seeing it all. Wasn't it made in widescreen for TV? Is it not extra effort to Pan and Scan it for a DVD (or is this something Sci Fi channel did)?

At the moment my plan is to get the ADV season 2 when it comes available late October, but before I do I want to know if other options are availible. I've heard that there were other versions made, but I got the impression that they wern't that accesable to Canadians (or to you guys down there in Canada Jr. ;^)) like they are the Brit version or something. So, is this true and are any other versions in their natural screen ratio? And are the special features at all differn't, for instance, with the deleated scenes inserted into their place in the story? I get the feeling that there isn't and ADV is my only hope but I need to be sure.

Of course, this is all under the asumption that season 2, 3 and 4 are handled the same way as 1, so if I'm wrong please correct me; and if I'm right please educate me.

BTW, the notice on this sites home page said season 2 is coming Oct 28. Does anyone know if this is just for the US of A or dose that include Canadian stores?

Thank you

Lord Sloth-ADV really can't help as S4 was the only season filmed in widescreen I believe. The other three seasons were filmed in the normal tv format so ADV have no widescreen edition to release. S4 though should come out to you guys in widescreen format as it is here in the UK. Hope this helps!

<ENTER LORD SLOTH>

You sure about that? I have clear memorys of seeing episodes in the 3rd season, particularly the one were Xalax <sp?> Sun is sent to hunt down Crais and Talyn, and I remember thinking how cool it was that they do this in widescreen, just like the show "Enterprise". On top of that I even did a test when I bought the first season; I had a copy of "Exodus from Genisis" downloaded on my computer and I compared the Image of Rygel when he's painting his portrait with that of the DVD. Missing was half an apple and part of his eyebrow, plus I could see the two bars on my computer screen. Granted, it's not all that much, I can live with it, but I still allways notice it.

S4 was the only season *filmed* in widescreen.

If the channel that showed Farscape adjusted the picture for widescreen or ADV chopped the format in anyway that has nothing to do with the original format of the show that was normal format. The reason I remember is because such a big deal was made out of the fact that they were now shooting in that ratio.

Here you go here's two articles mentioning it..

http://www.farscapeworld.com/news/1016838436.shtml

In addition to the comments from David Kemper, the magazine re-confirmed comments from Andrew Prowse that season four will be filmed and broadcast in widescreen, and also says that there will be another new title sequence for this season.

Also http://www.farscapeworld.com/news/1013036673.shtml

Prowse also mentions that for season four, "We're going to a super widescreen format which is definitely the way the show should be seen." He adds that Pilot's chamber will be receiving a makeover for the upcoming season.

All these quotes come from magazines -David Kemper from the official Farscape magazine and the other from SFX.
