View Full Version : Lost Faith in Return

Well, first of all I would like to thank everyone here for keeping the shows memory alive and well. It has really been great to see such a rally for a great show. I really can not explain the meaning and utter joy this show had brought to my life. For years and years TV was full of meaningless shows with no real intelligence. Then Farscape came along. SciFi was actually just getting added to my local cable company in mid second season. I thought I had found the promise land of TV. SciFi did nothing but advertise this show and it seems to me that this show was one of the main reasons SciFi was still around. It really showed me the true nature of the corporate beast when this show was cancelled. Then another stab in the viewer back was to air the reruns at midnight. Boy did that stink.
Anyway, I am sincerely starting to loose faith now. Not only for the return of the show, but for even a movie or the actual actors interest of coming back. I sure hope that this wish would come true.
Congrats to the Henson family and I hope they are keeping the hope alive as well.
(excuse the grammar and spelling, typing on a laptop sucks)

shsjed, don't give up hope. Keep watching Farscape, and come in here to get a morale boost. For one right now, go read this thread:

http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=212146#post212146

TAKE THAT LEAP OF FAITH! KEEP YOUR HOPE ALIVE! IT'S COMING BACK, BELIEVE US!

Remember, "time and patience......."

Welcome, shsjed! I don't think there's a person here who hasn't felt a bit down about Farscape. Don't give up hope. What we're all doing here is helping to keep Farscape alive. I don't think there's a week that goes by without some mention of Farscape in the media, etc. And that's owing to the hard work all of YOU are doing.

So, if nothing else, stick around the board for a while. Get to know the awesome people here and have fun. :D

I know how you are feeling, shsjed. As already said probably every Scaper sometimes feel that way. I have so mixed emotions about watching the DVD box set 4.5...I am so afraid it will get me down, but happily for those moments I can turn to Sarah to give me a boost upwards.

At the moment I am wearing a "Quality, Interrupted" t-shirt with at the back the letters H O P E...always have H O P E.

DK's quote
"...Hope is a word you will find in all my scripts
I give it to Crichton whenever I can.
I always have hope.
Yesterday I had less hope.
Today I had more.
You get the idea."

As Aeryn said to John [I think in Die Me Dichotomy]
"I am reminded at this point of a word that you actually brought to this vessel.
Hope."

From Maureen Ryan's recent article in the Chicago Tribune (syndicated in a bunch of other newspapers as well):

'"It's absolutely terrific that people aren't giving up," says executive producer Brian Henson. He recently banded together with his siblings to buy back the Jim Henson Co., which created the show, and he says this is a positive development for "Farscape's" future. "If, early on, (fans) had given up, I might have given up too."

From Ian Smith's report from Comic Con last month (http://www.iansmith.co.uk/lotr/weblogs/July18th2003.htm):

"There was nothing formal to announce.... yet, but it was clear things are moving forward in the background and the cast, Ben Browder in particular, seemed optimistic that something might be announced soon."

Keep hoping ... :)

but if you don't have hope, everything becomes dark and dreary and dead.

Don't give up hope, shsjed. It's okay to lose a bit of your hope, just don't give it up entirely. There are too many potentially good things happening out there for Farscape to give up hope altogether.

It's been said that Farscape is a love story at its heart. Well, it's also about hope.

I've been in your place myself, shsjed, but I got better. :D And that was pretty much after a similar post and then everybody here and on Kansas pointing me in the "right" direction.

Welcome to FMD :hi: and just join in with whatever you have to offer. If that happens to be nothing at the moment, that's okay. Just keep reading. Something will inspire you and then, just as you have less hope now, you'll have more hope then.

If the fans give up we have no chance of getting the series back also I've been saying for some time that we won't see anymore Farscape until tights to the series reverts back to Henson.

It not only an issue of the rights that would give time to rebuild the sets and re-group the cast and crew - as Dave Elsey's team's off doing the new Star Wars Flick. :D

So long as EMTV owned Henson we wouldn't have got any more Farscape so the Henson family buy back is a move in the right direction.

Look how long Trekies had to wait for more Trek following it's cancellation, or how long it took till the Star Wars prequels came out. OK we don't want to wait that long simply because of the fact that the cast will be getting too old. But it's only been a year - what's that in the scheme of things?

And I quite agree that farscape is about hope.......that's one of the key elements of the series. I also think this struck a chord with the fans even before the cancellation. Farscape made anything seem possible. You've got a bunch of largely unknowns making a 30 million dollar a year Sci-Fi series. It's like someone gave us the money to make the series. For once the right people were getting a break. That gave us all hope. We can't let Sci-Fi take away our hope.

I'm going to stop lurking long enough to jump in and say I too had my doubts about the return of Farscape. But, stranger things have happened!:aok:

Shsjed, I was doubtful, too, about a week and a half ago. I was really pretty sad about this cancellation. Then I came to this board and found what a big fanbase FS really has. Along with the dedication of the Henson Co., the actors, and the staff of this and other websites, Farscape WILL return.

I like the line from the 80's Robin of Sherwood series.......
"Nothing's forgotten, nothing's ever forgotten"
and it's well demonstrated here.
Keeps me going!

Be a part of something bigger! Farscape will return. I have believed this since the beginning of this campaign.

I was at ComicCon, and I can tell you that the feeling in the room was very spirited. Everybody was happy and excited...and I mean EVERYBODY. It certainly didn't feel like we were discussing a dead show from the past.

Welcome shsjed! We all get discouraged at times, but then usually either Bonnie Hammer at SciLie says something stupid to get us all fired up again or a cast or crew member says or hints at something that gives us hope. And no one - not the cast, the crew or Henson or telling us to give up, so we don't.

Also, I ran a SFS booth at the Origins gaming convention and I was amazed not only at how many people came up to the booth so excited to find a Farscape booth there, but also how many people did not know it was cancelled. They were still waiting for the 5th season to start!

Most of all, we keep growing. More fans find this site and sign up. New projects are started. We get noticed - we're the fans that won't go away and won't give up. We are freakishly well organized, beyond what any fan group has ever been.

We will make fan and TV history. It's just a matter of time and money and patience. Throw in a little wacky and devious thinking, and you get campaigns and projects that get noticed.

Hang in there, find a way to get involved, 'cuz doing something will make you feel better. Get involved with or start a group of fans in your city - nothing is better than meeting other Scapers and plotting together!

Hang in there, don't loose hope, keep reading and posting here, and find a way to contribute. That's my official prescription!

Yep when Ginny was over in the UK for a convention earlier in the year we were leafleting people and there were still people in the UK that didn't know about the cancellation as well.

Farscape will return. I have believed this since the beginning of this campaign.

I can honestly say, that I have ALWAYS believed that Farscape will return. Granted, there have been times when my hope faltered. This campaign, the friends I have made & the knowledge that Farscape is just too damn good have brought me through the uncertain times! Really, just hang around here for a little bit & I guarantee that you will get fully recharged in the hope department.

You're only being human by expressing doubts. But Farscape will be back. Just keep writing letters. I just finished a full batch today (from the August 29th to do list).

I do not intend to give up, if I have a choice. Farscape is too good a show. The public gripes because there's no good TV out there. Well, when something like Farscape comes along, you fight for it. Period.

I AM FARSCAPE -- BIG TIME :aok:

I gave up hope awhile back but when I learned that the SciLie Channel was running Farscape marathons this October & possibly using up the number of times they can rebroadcast the episodes, I got psyched, for so many reasons, but mainly because the episodes where going to be played up in SciLie's contract and the episodes will be free for other channels to broadcast.
We need assurance every once in a while, so it is important to not only come here to read it but also to give it, something I have very much been slacking in myself.
so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas plans notions towards a more spiritual effort in our quest to bring back Farscape.
something to bolster moral.
if there are any spiritualists such as my self who know of something like this on the web or on these boards or anything such as vigils, circles, meditations..... are there any witches, monks, Shamans, out there who know something?
anything that will bring together a mass consciousness and put out a positive energy I would like to know about, and participate in, it.
shows like Farscape are a bit more than great art, they are also the myths and Folklore of our time that express the heart of Romance and Epic struggle - the stories that need to be told and retold,
because if we loose this part of ourselves (and the way television looks today we have) we will forget what we truly are, creatures of spirit and discovery.
that is somthing I almost forgot.

This is a cool idea. Someone posted a while back about doing some positive visualization, but it was quite some time ago, and I can't find that thread. There were quite a few responses, but (obviously) we didn't keep that thread going for very long.

Hey, WHATEVER it takes, I'm game for it.

It was the idea of thinking as One Conscieness Or Oness. I think it was if everybody came together as a Collective Mind and thought only positve thoughts...that It would create a positive outcome...and perhaps it has....I think it is called Collective Consciece....I do a serch and see what I can come up with....:D

Farscape is too good of a thing to slip quietly into the dark. As Moonbeam Jones of Dubtribe Sound System once sang, "We can make a difference".
