okay, this was a hard one.
> I picked season 2, because it contains the largest amount of my favorite episode, although it does not contain my all time favorites. The three parters were best in this season. I thought Aeryn, my favorite, was best in this season; all powerful and taking care of the insane Crichton.
> My second would be season 4, for the three parters and the comedy/darkness duelism throughtout the season. Season 3 is next, purely because I am a shipper.

It really wouldn't be fair for me to vote for one, because I've still got a few eps in season 4 I haven't seen. (goody!!!)
So,...I voted that I didn't have a favorite.

I had to go with Season 2 just because of all the chances they took in this season. Without eps. like "The Way We Weren't", "Crackers Don't Matter", "Won't Get Fooled Again" and the Three Parters you really wouldn't have Season 3 and 4 being as good as they were.
Season 1 was just good solid Sci-Fi which helped us get all the characters in there and get them going, but Season 2 said "Hey, this world that John stumbled into is really off the charts weird sometimes. Lets see how far we can push it." Also factor in that John is slowly going insane and a finale that to this day makes me cry, and you have a winner of a season.

I can honestly say that I like seasons two, three and four so much that I can't choose between them. Season one has more so-so episodes (in my opinion) so that is my least favorite.
In fact, i'm just rewatching season one and it's interesting to see how writers, actors, directors etc get better episode by episode while they are finding a rhythm and getting established. I find I, E.T. to be particularly weak, but right after that the learning curve is very steep.

I had to go with season 3. I like all of them, but 3 has more of my favorite episodes such as Suns and Lovers, Different Destinations, and Eat Me to name a few.

Although I think all four seasons are great (natch), I'd have to go with Season 3 as my favorite. That's when Farscape really became epic in scope, and, in my opinion, finally fulfilled the potential of Seasons 1 and 2. I like my stories as serialized as possible, and I remember wondering through much of Season 1 when the epic arc was going to kick in. I just started watching Farscape in April, and I had read some things about it beforehand, so my expectations were set in a certain way. There were hints of it at the end of Season 1, especially in Nerve, THM, and Family Ties, and again at the end of Season 2 with LGM and DMD. Season 3 felt the most epic and serialized to me, whereas there were more stand alones during the first half of Season 4. Not that I have anything against stand alones per se, but the continuing arcs are really what pulls me in. Plus, the audacity of twinning the main character and then splitting him off into 2 separate story arcs--risky, brilliant, and wonderfully weird. Although I've seen cloning stories before in sci fi, this one takes the cake. I'm also a sucker for angst, and the "Season of Death" provides plenty of that.

I agree wholely. I'm not a big fan of "Exodus" either. I feel that Season 1 really hits it's high around Human Reaction, Through the Looking Glass and into The Gammik Base Three Parter (Seriously, "Nerve", "Hidden Memory" and "Family Ties" could be a Trilogy if you ignore "Bone to Be Wild")
In my mind it's like Star Wars. The first movie/season is really there to get the characters in there and let us get to know them, and learn a little about this new world. I think that's one reason why old fans are so dedicated and new fans only fall more in love with this show. As you see tha characters grow, you feel like you get to know them. I mean, Crichton meets these characters at the same time we do. He knows as much as we do about this new world. Maybe that's why some people like the later episodes better as well, they're more comfortable, like John is. Well this post is getting longer then I care for :P Going to wrap it up now
Take care my little Love Monkeys.

Oh, what a hard question!
I chose Season 4 over 2 by a whisker (and a REAL thin one too!:D), with episodes like Crichton Kicks, I Shrink, Therefore I Am, Terra Firma, Bringing Home the Bacon, and of course Bad Timing it just BARELY beats out Season 2 with it's wonderful stand alones of Crackers Don't Matter, Out of Their Minds, and The Way They Weren't with the Princess and Liars, Guns, and Money Trilogies.

Season 3. Just the huge amount of action and storyline crammed into one season is overwhelming. True, if you miss an episode you're screwed, but as if that was going to happen...
(note - it did happen. I missed Suns & Lovers 'cos I was visiting my grandma. However, did get DVD with it)

if you notice, which i'm sure you all did, aeryn goes thru a transformationa s teh seasons progress. she starts as a scruffy pk. by season 4, she's frellin gorgeous. her hair straightens out, her eyebrows are trimmed (plucked, or whatever girls do with them), and she wears that tank top. nice abs. speaking of abs jool had some crazy six-pack.

I'd say it's a toss up between season 3 and 4. Season 4 had somewhat of a weak start but the second half of the season was excellent (plus Aeryn was unbelievably gorgeous in season 4 :D). However, I love the storyline and the climax of season 3. In the end though, I prefer season 4.

I voted for season 2, but I was really focusing on rerun value...which season has the episodes I like to watch over and over?
There are a lot of episodes near the end of season four that gave season two some stiff competition though.
Iīd choose between 3 and 4, though fav eps are evenly spread between seasons. Oh, and I donīt remember anymore which I actually voted for.

I chose 2 as well, mostly for the reason J_S said...S2 has the most eps I go back to, mostly the LATP trilogy, and DMD. I'm having a hard time evaluating S4 cuz it's been a while since I've watched the eps. I'd like to see the season in full. I think I'll like it much more than I initially did (although I thought it had some standouts like UR) when I can sit and watch the eps back to back.

This is an excellent question, and extremely difficult to answer! Season 2 is amazing, as Farscape blossoms forth from the genius of the. first final four! Increasingly, we see hints that something is not right. Who would have guessed that the trouble had its origin way back on the Gammak base? In WGFA, John and we finally get the truth. It was a stroke of genius to reveal it, and then block John from remembering. Our leading man continues to lose his mind in bits and pieces and chunks. Ben Browder is utterly Masterful with this' "Liars Guns and Money, Die Me Dichotomy! The winner could be season 2, BUT...
Season of Death launches an amazing, sometimes literal roller coaster ride! The terror and tragedy of Aeryn and Zaahn's fate, the unexpected subplot of the Harvey residual clone and POW!
There are two, TWO John Crichtons, "equal and original!" Did anyone see this coming? I couldn't believe how they had me feeling sorry for Scorpius, after "Incubator." "Revenging Angel, Scratch n Sniff, Into the Lion's Den, WOW! I read that Fran felt season 3 was her favorite, and I can see why! BUT...
I do dearly Love season 4! The mania of "Crichton Kicks," the brutality of "What Was Lost," the funny, false grossness of Lava!
The shock and sorrow of "Promises," and of course we're still waiting for that other shoe to drop about Aeryn's 'time' away!
I loved having Scorpy on Moya. It's fascinating to watch he and John interacting and changing, then changing back. The Earth episodes of this season are effectively happy, tragic, funny, bittersweet and right on target! "Unrealized Reality, Constellation of Doubt, Mental as Anything, Prayer, Hot to Katratzi," and on and on..! Having said this, I still haven't cast my vote in this poll, yet.
Darth Buddha, you are exactly right when you prefaced this question with "So Far!" Truly, the Best is yet to come!
t
Season two, because I like insane John (yes, I'm sick, why do you ask?) ;-)
BTW... am I the only one who didn't like Aeryn's look in S4 at all? I loved her looks before, she seemed so natural, something we rarely see in women on TV. But then she disappeared to a beauty farm...

I was a little surprised that I had to answer S4, because the early episodes with major cast members missing didn't feel complete (except Crichton Kicks, I LOVE that one!). But the last half of the season was so spectacular, I couldn't NOT pick season 4. The last 4 episodes especially, truly were the best work the crew had ever done. That's why the finale was such a punch in the gut... this wasn't the X-Files limping off to die after sticking around 2-4 years too long, this was a show killed at it's peak. Season 4 MUST have been great, because we're all here... :)
Each season of Farscape has the same trend... start with a bang, then slow down a bit (stand-alone eps), then hit full throttle until the exciting and often horrifying climax. :)

But then she disappeared to a beauty farm... No, you're not alone in that opinion. I thought the "early" Aeyrn---with the fly-away hair--was the best "look" for the character. But then, Claudia Black would be beautiful in a mumu with her head in a paper bag!

My oiwn favorite look for her was the Premeir, where they werent' apparently straightening her hair. Season 4 of course, her hair couldn't take straightening any more... so she wore a wig.

I loved season 4 the best. However, season 1 is good because John is so innocent and lost. The charactors are developed so well and so believably, that you just can't help falling in love with them all, and wishing you were part of this crew. That is an amazing accomplischment by the writers, actors -all of the crew!

had to vote season 2...
i like everything in this season BUT liars, guns and money. to me jothee is the riley(buffy S4) of farscape. as much as i love stark, i can't get myself to rewatch Ep that are heavy on the jothee. i wish they could have brought back Jenavian Charto(unless i'm having a brain fart and she did reappear). that would have made for an awkward situation with aaron and crichton, not to mention her being a PK assassin. i really like the 3-4 but S2 takes it for the reply value of Princess tri, WGFA, Crackers, Locket, 3 crichton, and DMD.
season 3 is really close but ya have to remember

My generic list:
1. Season 3 ((Farscape at its true peak if you ask me... which isn't to say I wouldn't wanna see another ten frelling seasons of it if I could. There was so much characterization, so much focus on Scorpius and Aeryn, I just loved what happened to Aeryn in it. Well... not loved that she had to go through with it... but... you know what I mean. It was all so powerful, so dramatic... and there wasn't a single hint of 'superfluous' to any of it.))
2. Season 4 ((Amazing. The stories clashed into eachother so quickly, what we thought we knew was soon redefined, John going back to Earth was mesmerizing for me, and seeing the Moya's effect on the world was also awe-inspiring. And the final seven or eight episodes, starting where Aeryn is captured and ending where... well, where we've all been fighting to keep it going... I thought they could've been some of the best in the series.))
3. Season 2 ((We definitely get the most humour in this season, if you ask me, and humour is good. Very good. Also, the cliffhangar was awesome, for sure. Some of the greatest 'classics', hands-down, were in Season 2, and a lot of gateways were opened up for the future.))
4. Season 1 ((Which isn't to say I didn't like it. But it was somewhat trite, and of course it has its reasons... it was the beginning. Although I still thoroughly enjoyed it, and since I saw the last few episodes of Farscape, then became an addict to Midnights with Moya, this is where it all began for me, and well, undoubtedly, for most, including the crew of Moya themselves. Watching them band together, seeing John struggle to find a place with the crew while trying to get away at the same time... powerful stuff. And then when badass Scorpius got introduced... heheh.))

This is a tough one. I chose S3. But it's a tough choice between S3 and S4. S3 definitely has a lot of episodes that I will watch over and over. I need to go back and rewatch S4 again, but there are a lot of eppys in that season that I love, as well. It's just a matter of waiting for the next wave of dvds to come out.
SOD, Green Eyed Monster, Scratch N' Sniff, Relativity, Fractures, DWTB are all excellent episodes. IP and The Choice are excellent, as well, but get out the box of tissues. ::sniff:::

I really enjoyed Season four the best. I liked how they focused on John and Aeryn, but also how they grew out of the depressing season of death. I like Noranti and think she was a good choice because she filled that big hole that Zhaan left as the spiritual figure.

I voted for season 4. Season 3 is very strong indeed but it suffers in my books because of some very bad mid-season episodes (Losing Time, Meltdown). I would have also liked to seen more of the two John's together. It's still great but I think season 4 beats it in almost every respect: I love the new characters (Sikozu and Noranti) and the continuity is excellent even in the beginning of the season 4 - and I believe the idea of getting the crew slowly together was brilliant; it gives the beginning of the season more tension and a goal.
Season 4 had also two of the very best standalone eps: Lava and I Shrink... The latter had probably the best teaser of the whole four years of Farscape. And there's only two duds: Natural Election and Coup By Clam.

I thought Losing Time was fairly prevolent and beyond stand-alone though, because it appears as though Chiana's experiences from that point forward are reflective of LT. I never disliked Natural Election or Coup by Clam like most, though. Oh, and Meltdown was really important for Stark, too.

I didn't like Natural Election either. It was boring, and I think it could have been done better. But then I had problems with most of the first half of season four. Something about it seemed a little off, as if no one seemed quite sure what they were doing. But Coup By Clam was great. It was one of the funnier episodes of the season.

Even though the 4th season is when I started watching, my favorite is the 3rd season. I think overall it moves you. The reason I even wanted to watch Farscape was reading the storyline developments in some of the magazines. It sounded well done and interesting. I am more of a character and relationship viewer than a pure sci-fi person, so I love any kind of storyline that involves a true emotion. Plus what a clever way to give the audience what it wanted and then taking it away.

I voted for season two, just because after weighing all the great and good episodes in all teh seasons, it has most of the episodes I love watching over and the ones I always want people to see. I think I like season 3 the least, but it's not because I don't like the episodes, there's a lot of great stuff in season three, I guess the overall feel of it just doesn't do as much for me. In season one, the characters are in the getting used to each other phase, an aspect of the show I love alot. Season two I think is when they hit their prime. I guess I like 3 the least because the crew are split up more. The best thing about season 3 is all the Crais time! And season four is just too crazy not to like!
I hope I wasnt confusing! :)

I am now watching Season 1 and I know that I can't choose any favourite season, because they are much too different.
In this moment I love season 1 because of all the new things, because it is strange, because of the old John I miss so much later. In Season 2 I love the drastic changes, the beginning of the greater plot arc that was established in season 1, but also the beginning of feeling really familiar with Moyas crew. Season 3 is so dark, so hopeless, but also so joyful, but as I said, I miss sometimes the old John with his eyes wide open, filled with wonder, his clumsy behaviour, how the others dealt with him.
Its like watching a child growing up, learning und changing through many different and sometimes weird occurences.
And so I love all the seasons I watched so far on the same level, but in really different ways.

When people speak of the "old John", I think they mean when he was first thrust into this thing. Of course he was in bewilderment, as any of us would be. After he had been in the situation for a couple of years, he was getting used to it, and became accustomed to it. I don't think John could ever have really gone back to live on earth, It would be too dull for him.
