Update: 10/22/2003

I have sent my emails, and tomorrow 10/23/03 will be sending the snail mail, I hope all of you found this list as helpful as I have!!

To All 5000+ members!! (Bumped for your info only)
I would like to make a simple request that somehow all of us pick a date and commit to sending a simple note, email, or fax to let the new owners of Scifi know we are still here.

Nothing long, extravagant or complex, just perhaps our demographis and the simple message "I Am Farscape"

I realized it will take time for everyone to get the word. I think this effort would make a nice Christmas present!!!

We are constantly told there is not enough of a fan base, I want to prove them wrong!!!

If Anyone is part of any other message boards please feel free to forward this.

I have a few email address I will try to update my site, I dont know that it necessary to blindly email a ton of places, but skiffy, the new owners or any other key players that anyond can think off such as advertisers.

!!!! Also, dont forget to thank CNN for airing the interview with BB and the reporting of our efforts!!!!!

(I will put the post card on my site tonight after this post, another scaper has created a great one!!! The post card is lower in this post...somewhere)

I would to thank many others who compiled this list of contacts when the first
announcement came that SciFi made the decision not to pick up Farscape for a fifth
season.

I cannot emphasize strongly enough that our only intention should be to let as many in the
media world as possible that there is a strong fan base for Farscape, to that end word of
mouth can be very, very influential.

Above all, be courteous, be supportive. My intention is just to send a short note with my
demographics to let anyone I can know that even after a year that Farscape is a show
which deserves to be continued.

:aok:

I just now posted this on the Farscape BBoard. We'll see what kind of response there is.

Did you have a particular day or whatever you think this should occur, or just start sending something ASAP?

Perfect_Tommy

I think a high profile date like a holiday or something would be cool. Imagine if we did it on Christmas. December 26 rolls around, the Sci-Fi workers come in from their Christmas dinners...... ONLY TO BE WELCOMED BY 5000 E-MAILS!!!! All of them with the same simple message......

My name is Perfect-Tommy. I am Sci-Fi. I am Farscape. We are still here.

mwah ha ha ha ha

That would be fun..... and EVIL...... I like the sound of it.

PauNthWorlds
09-17-2003, 02:21 PM
I am going to have to start organizing my address and contacts to pick the major holidays, of course we will need to coordination with other countries who may have different holidays as well. I for one will start working on this no matter what.

Riot Chik
09-17-2003, 02:32 PM
Great idea. Count me in!

Perfect_Tommy
09-17-2003, 04:44 PM
Yea but Christmas is pretty universal. Even non-christian countries do the whole christmas thing (like Japan). So pretty much any of the countries that aired Farscape celebrate chrismas, be it for religious reason or for the soul purpose of getting presents...... mmmm..... presents. Halloween would be a fun one too, but it's not really a world holiday :P

Why not next week? It's sooner. We can do it again at xmas.

Frankiexq
09-17-2003, 08:11 PM
what's the address?

MrFlibble
09-17-2003, 08:31 PM
It's a great idea!

Pick a date, any date.

We are Farscape. We will be there.

Definitely count me in on this one ...

LadyCrais
09-17-2003, 10:44 PM
I was going to suggest Thanksgiving because workers don't take off for extended periods then. BUT, it is an American holiday. New Years would also be universal.

My reason for posting is that people returning to work are Dec 26th will be few and far between. Most places of business work on a skeleton crew at best from Christmas thru New Years. And you can pretty well count on the executive types not being a part of that skeleton crew.

Thats a great idea. I especially like the whole Mwah ha ha ha ha bit. It adds that little bit that makes anyone how reads it know just how determined the writer is. :aok:

New Years is mostly universal since a majority of the world uses the roman calander, but it is so far away. How about September 27th. It may seem close but I just think it would be cool to do it on my birthday.

Kerrigan
09-18-2003, 04:20 AM
My letter may not make it until Sept 27 :)

On the other hand, some day soon after New Years when people have come back from the holidays ready to face a new year of work... and 5000+ letters. :D Nice way to start the year, dontcha think?

SabaceanBabe
09-18-2003, 04:53 AM
I'm liking the idea of a demographics, I am here, I am Farscape postcard to welcome in the new year.

Maybe one of our talented graphics scapers could design a postcard for that purpose?

Kalliope
09-18-2003, 05:01 AM
Whom should it be addressed to?

SeasonOfDeath
09-18-2003, 06:25 AM
I'd like to suggest that it isn't done near the U.S. holidays.. November 24 -- January 3.
We could not only crash their email servers (not good) and cause an unneccesary burden (pain in the arse) to US Postal employees during a historically crazy-busy time of the year.
Just a thought.

PauNthWorlds
09-18-2003, 11:26 AM
How about an October Date on the premise that since at that time last year there was no Farscape and we were all Mad!!

I am going to attempt to gather my addresses, etc together this weekend.

Perhaps the general statement could read:

"If Farscape re-runs were being aired, I would have been watching Scifi Channel during the Farscape season break!!"

Feel free to modify or suggest any alternatives.

Farscape is a good reason to do anything.

paradox79
09-18-2003, 02:24 PM
Now THIS is a good idea. I suggest we all do it not only on 1 day, but all at the same time as well.

And we should take it to its logical conclusion. This should be a weekly event until Farscape is back on the air.
"Hi my name is ....I am 24 years old. I am a male. I AM farscape"

Every week to every email adress, every time we should have been watching Farscape.

After I posted this at the Farscape BB board, a lot of people suggested Halloween. What does everyone think about that?

La Bomba
09-19-2003, 07:28 AM
I think it's a great idea anytime we do it. Halloween would be fine. As long as we all do it at the same time, I don't think the date is that important

Spedoinkel

If we do halloween we could all put some of the qoutes from Kansas on it.

I really like the idea that we all send the same basic message. Can we agree to do what paradox79 suggested?
I am ______, I am a ____ year-old M/F, and I am still here. I am Farscape.
Would that work?
Oh, and we also have to get generic_screenname to send one of his awesome mosaics with his e-mail!

Perfect_Tommy
09-19-2003, 03:10 PM
Well are we doing E-mail, postcards or both. I kind of like the Idea of everyone having a postcard with a Rat or GS artwork on it. I think in this digital age nothing hits home as hard as a good old fashion letter or postcard.

Also I doubt they would open an attachment from a Farscape fan, so I think they'd never see the picture. Though we're a peaceful lot, there are still some people that wouldn't mind sending a virus to them I reckon ;)

Thanks for all that hard work, Paunthworlds!! I would appreciate it if you all would continue this thread until a date has been decided on to mail/email our Farscape membership. I may not be able to mail to ALL the address' but am willing to give it a try. (I am a certifiable lurker, been here quite a while... guess I better get off my buns and make some noise!)

well better to be a lurker then not be around at all. You're one of the 5000+ :)

I am planning to do my mailings the last two weeks of October, I need a bit of time to get my stuff together, and I am hoping that those who have kids in school will have had the chance to get past the school start date. Unlike me, I am sure many others actually have lives!!! :)

A call from my former satellite provider prompted to remind myself to include them on my Post Card list.

Direct TV called to invite me to reopen my account. I explained to the caller that since Farscape was cancelled I no longer needed the service. She said "What is Fire Escape". I said "No Farscape, the scifi channel cancelled the show and has nothing worth watching since then, if Farscape returns you will get a call from me."

Most important I got to plug this site too, I said to the caller, "If you want to know all about it goto www.watchfarscape.com". (ok ok shameless plug!!!)

So, I ask you all to not forget you local providers of TV service.

Thanks, Much

Christmas might be good because of the whole hope thing, the birth of a new world, sort of thing. Even though it is a christian event (thinking about all the Scapers in the world who are NOT christian).

The 22nd of December is a Monday. First day of winter.
The 19th is Friday, first day of Hannukah.

You know what, I would do it on December 1st. Monday. Beginning of the month (last week of December a lot of people take off because it is a 3-day week anyway). Beginning of the holiday season.

My name is Fiona. I am FarScape. I am still here.
