I love this show but...it's smarter than I am. Maybe if people talk about it, I will understand more.

Me too. It's like English mysteries, I only ever understand about half of what is being said.

I've never seen an ep of this show (yes, I have been living under a rock), but my English teacher has been gushing about it for ages so I finally watched the Wednesday episode and was REALLY impressed. I can't believe I've never checked it out, considering I adore Martin Sheen.

So now I'm painfully scrambling to catch up. Are there any online summary places? Is the show out on DVD yet? Thanks.

I used to watch West Wing faithfully, it was one of my very favorites. But, I've gradually just stopped watching it, am just checking in on it occasionally. SPOILER (End of spoiler marked below)

Seems like it's changed since Rob Lowe left. I mean, really, the President's daughter kidnapped??? They are really dragging that one out.

I still watch it on Bravo, though. They are running the first seasons of it there, which I like a lot better than last season or this one (so far). Now, there were some FINE shows.

Maybe I'll try to give this season another chance.

I've been watching the show over here in the UK, on the satellite channel "E4", more or less since the first episode. This show is truly superb, especially the first season.

If you haven't watched it before - do. The writing and acting are superb.

BTW Watch the spoilers - we're a season behind over here!

Ooops, sorry! I'll edit. Figured there had been so much written about that show, everyone knew.

I knew about some of the ructions behind the scenes - but some of the plot details hadn't percolated through...

No worries - it's all too easy!

Hegemon - http://westwing.bewarne.com is a pretty extensive site for information on West Wing - It's the West Wing Continuity Guide.

Also, if you get Bravo, as Jayelsee said, they run West Wing nightly, I believe, so you could get caught up there. I had 3 shows I watched faithfully - West Wing, ER and Farscape...

I know eps are on DVD now too - but don't know if the video stores carry them so you could rent and catch up. It is a fast moving show and one you have to pay attention to or you may miss something. Will be interesting to see how this season plays out without Sorkin .... If epy one this season is an indication, it should do okay.

I love the show, my wife won't watch it, partly because the president in the show is a democrat, she just can't stomach that. It's all the same to me, as far as the show goes, it's still entertaining. The main reason is Sheen, she can't stand him and thinks he's a traitor who should be deported. I overlook that, and notice that he does a great job as an actor, and truthfully, although misguided at times in his personal life, I don't think he's a bad guy, and I'd want him on my side in a fight.

I think the show is one of the best written, best executed in it's class. It's a smart show, you don't have to agree with the politics to enjoy and appreciate it, matter of fact, it may help if you don't.

I think that Rob Lowe may have made a mistake, we'll see. I'll miss his character, he was one of my favorites, him and Leo. It's all good, I hope.

Err - why does your wife think Martin Sheen is a traitor?

I love Martin Sheen...I think he really looks so presidential.

Sometimes I wish President Bartlett WERE the real president...although, I don't wish to get a political debate started, so, disrespect intended to the current president.

I HATE Rob Lowe...I was kind of glad he left the show. Although, as much as I hate to admit it, he did a good job as Sam Seaborne.

My favorite character is C.J. She cracks me up.

If you like West Wing, check out a show called "Sports Night". You can buy the entire series on DVD in one package for about $50 - $60.
It was on before West Wing, and was written and produced by the same people (Alan(?) Sorkin). It has the same fast-paced dialog and wit, without all the political stuff.
It is one of my favorite shows! It got cancelled after only 2 seasons because it was too intelligently written for most people (Sound familiar?).
Anyway, check it out!
:)

check out a show called "Sports Night". Sports Night was wonderful. Probably my all-time favorite "sit com" (if you can call it that). Do you remember that there was NO laugh track? And after they cancelled it off the network (pretty quickly), they showed it on Comedy Central for awhile, and at first, they ADDED a laugh track. That was AWFUL. That show did not need, and suffered from having, a fake laugh track.

Didn't realize it was out on DVD, I'll have to check on that.

I saw one episode... they were bashing Conservatives and that was it. I won't watch it.

Yeah, it did have a pretty liberal bent. But it was excrutiatingly funny, and sad, and dramatic and entertaining--and intelligent, which is hard to find. Really liked the actors too, Peter Krause (Six Feet Under guy), Felicity Huffman, her husband William Macy, had a recurring role, too. (Anyway, I lean more towards liberal than conservative......a LOT more......so it I didn't notice the "conservative bashing" as much as you did, prob).

Thanks for the link, AnnK. I'm going to have to try to catch up like mad.

And for the record, Sports Night ruled so much. One of the best shows ever.

Tonights ep was so good. I was on the edge of my couch for the whole ep. Until the last min. I thought she was dead. and next weeks ep looks so good too.

Grinner! Give it another chance! I am most definitely conservative myself, and I loved it! They lean towards liberal attitudes when political stuff comes up, but on sports night, it doesn't come up very often. For the most part it is an extremely well-written and hilarious show, with very likeable characters.

Yup - I have to concur - *the* good thing about this show is the pin-sharp dialogue. The writing is excellent.

And if you think Bartlet is left-wing. You should try Tony Blair!

nah... besides I can't stand Martin Sheen. And it isn't from a political standpoint... I just don't think he is a good actor and I can't stand the way he talks. One to many cigarettes there buddy.

Anyone see that MST movie with his brother? Joe Estevez? Something about Death...man that movie has made me see Martin Sheen in a whole new light...and it ain't pretty. HE wasn't in the movie..but his brother looks so much like him..and the bad acting. Eek!

Joe Estevez is in a bunch of movies. I never liked MST so I have no idea which you saw. He's got over a hundred credits. He's also known as Joe Phelan.

"The Legend Of The Roller Blade Seven" This flick not only has Joe, but Frank Stallone as well. You know you want to see it, go on, rent it, cause it costs 90 bucks on VHS. Who knew.

Here are some more

Death Blow : Don Swayze and Frank Stallone

Money to Burn : Joe Estevez and Don Swayze

Eye of the Stranger : Joe Estevez and Don Swayze

Beach Babes from Beyond Infinity : Joe Estevez and Don Swayze

I know I saw a flick with all three of these guys in it, or was it a sitcom, Bernie Mac? I can't remember. They might suck, but they are good at it. Go watch yer B movies.
