Looks like a very lively forum and look forward to participating...

Can anyone tell me about the moderators, (what they are like, etc).

Do messages often get deleted around here without any explaination or warnings?

What the status of using "adult" language around here?

Are there any reference threads or certain people known to make informational threads concerning farscape?

The moderators are SUPER. They vigilantly protect us from trolls, but otherwise let us freely air our opinons. (Well....they DID finally ask us to stop posting about the recent war in Iraq, because the arguing was getting heated and tiresome.)

If a post has foul language, or is otherwise nasty and mean, it will disappear, and that poster will be banned. However, most opinions, as long as they are backed up with well-reasoned and polite arguments, are tolerated here. Keep in mind that this is a SaveFarscape campaign website, as well as a Farscape fan website, so nobody here appreciates gratuitous negativity regarding our show or our campaign. If you find yourself being refered to by the other posters as "Pisher", you should take that as a warning that pretty soon you will be banned. ("Pisher" is a famous troll from the early days of this campaign.) Currently, there are no "Pishers" here; there are over 5000 members on this site, and all of us are polite, friendly, and cheerful. (Yes, it DOES sound too good to be true, but it is.)

As for "adult" language, if you're at all familiar with Farscape, you will find that no Farscape fan has to resort to it. Farscape provides an ample vocabulary allowing all sorts of strong emotions to be expressed without offense. If you're afraid of encountering any, don't worry, it's pretty rare. If you're looking for foul language, you've come to the wrong place.

If you're new to Farscape, or have questions about the episodes, you can try checking out this forum:

Any question you care to ask will be gladly and patiently answered. We here at SaveFarscape want everyone to discover the wonders that is Farsape.

If you're REALLY new (and never saw the show before) RUN (don't walk) to your nearest video rental place and rent the season 1 episodes. (Netflix has them, too.)

Welcome Maveric :)

Glad you could stop by. Yeah, pretty much what grapeshot said. In fact, one of the mods will probably come and answer these questions themselves cos - hey - they're Scapers and they're just as gabby as the rest of us :rollin:

What I really mean is that everybody on the boards knows them really well and they participate freely in all the posts.

As far as you last question, check out the Campaign Forum. People are pretty good about not going wild with rumors, and if something big becomes really official, one of the mods will usually post it.

So relax and have fun. Hope to see ya around.

Thanks for the welcome!

(a little bit about myself and my farscape experience...)

I saw the show when it originally aired on SciFi during season one... due to real life situations, I only caught a few episodes of the 2nd 3rd and 4th seasons. Thanks to my local video store and some friends I have seen most of the episodes now.

I recently purchased the complete first season boxed set and LOVE it. I can't afford to waste money but this was well worth it! I have preordered the complete second season box set but only god knows where I'm gonna get the money :).

I frequent other message boards quite often. OK, I haven't interacted with any of the moderators yet but looks promising. The only thing I can't stand is when I put alot of thought, emotion, effort into a post and it gets deleted. Actually it's not the deletion that gets my blood boiling but rather when my post does get deleted and there is no explaination or warning...

I'm an adult, I try to act like one, and appreciate being treated like one...

I'm also a Texan and I'm from Houston. I use Adult language quite often and alot of Texas slang and Phrases (as I have also noticed that our favorite Farscape star - John Crichton - does so on occasion). I usually censor myself and it's not that big of a problem for me but sometimes I'll slip like for instance; if I were talking at length about my Least Favorite Character - Stark and I said something along the lines of "If I saw Stark burning in the street I wouldn't piss on him to put him out..." (common southern sayin')

Sometimes, some of the common southern phrases I use can upset a person but I am usually quick to apologize (I don't even think twice about it...).

I know Farscape has their own Cursing/Adult Language but it just doesn't natural to me like my southern heritage and honestly I think it's a little silly to speak/write like that (just my $.02)...

I am a neat freak, almost to the point of compulsion. I like everything neat and organized. I also like creating Quick Reference guides/threads/ links...

again, thanks for the welcome

Well, I don't know Mav, you could probably get away with that one. I guess the best thing for you to do is browse through the threads in all the different forums. That should give you an idea of how people talk over here. And if a lot of people are offended by what you have said (and trust me, Scapers are a pretty honest, verbal bunch :rollin: ), you always have the ability to edit or delete your own posts.

well I don't see anything wrong with your phraseology, and I'm sure that would pass muster.
