Does anyone take this stuff seriously? Who watches it? I find it hard to believe that anyone with a shred of intelligence can stomach a triad of talking heads mouthing their opinions on stuff that would have happened, could have happened, or should have happened.
The California recall elections are all over the place as if a flying saucer has landed. So what if Arnie shook up a couple of women? We know that stuff goes on in Hollywood. It's not like we should be surprised over it.
Anyway, just wanted to see if I was the only one that thought it was silly.

No TV news for me, cable or network. I can find out what I need to know much more efficiently (and quietly) by checking several news sources online. I like to use a variety of news sites to get a spectrum of opinion. If I want to get someone's analysis, I can find that too. The only reason I ever turn on TV news is for the sports score ticker (and I only watch long enough to get the score of interest before moving on).

News is depressing. I avoid it if at all possible.

Yuck, news. I have a few online sources for all the big stuff. Other than that, I figure that, if it's interesting enough for me to want to know about it, it'll show up here in the OT forum. Scapers haven't let me down yet. In fact, a lot of things have shown up here 15-20 minutes before they show up in "bigger" places.

I don't know if it's legal to post this or not, but it's an interesting study on the accuracy of people's beliefs in relation to where they obtain their news.

well, its an interesting article, but its highly biased. you can tell just from the title of the article, "Study: Wrong Impressions Helped Support Iraq War".
i dont have satellite anymore cause of college, but i always have foxnews.com. i go to reuters.com for a general overview of the news, then ananova.com for weird news, and then foxnews.com if i want more indepth coverage. and of course, washingtonpost.com cause i'm from northern va.

I deprogrammed FOX NEWS right out of my channel line up. I don't even have to be exposed to it for a microsecond while channel surfing. It is last on my list of sources for TV news (which I only watch during crises - usually I just use NPR and the web). I do occasionally check the FOX NEWS website as part of my search for multiple viewpoints.

FoxNews lost what little appeal it held for me during its coverage of the Iraq war. I remember seeing its lead-in: an eagle swooping in, with an American flag waving in the background. With my left-liberal politics, I just can't stomach that kind of nationalism. That said, I don't find CNN or other mainstream TV news programs to be much better. I prefer on-line stuff, especially from international perspectives--lots of things that you'll never hear on cable news or even in newsmagazines like TIME. It's like any substantial critiques of U.S. foreign policy were off limits, for fear of being labelled "anti-American." I fully admit to being biased--I just wish FoxNews and CNN would admit they are, too.
