Okay, so call me crazy, but I'm considering serving as the organizer if we decide to go in on a bulk order and purchase 150 of Gigi's CDs from her distributor in Australia (we have to order 150 in order to get a good deal).
The price will be somewhat less than the full price would be if people ordered them individually.
Overseas Scapers, I haven't checked on this so I could be wrong, but I doubt y'all would realize any savings through the whole bulk buy so I'm really suggesting this only to the US and possibly Canadian Scapers (how much does it cost to ship a CD to Canada anyway?). Scapers in Europe, Asia and parts beyond might do best to order straight from the distributor.
Anyway, what I need to know is exactly how many people are willing to order the CD. Assume the final price is US$16.00 (that's just a guess so don't hold me to it - if we get enough interest I'll go by the PO and figure out exactly what the shipping costs will be).
The CD is an extended play single (6 minutes) and was limited to a run of just 500 copies, and IT'S GIGI!!
Before I decide to take this on, I need a show of hands. Please reply here or PM me if you would want one or more copies of the CD for your own personal listening collection.

Personally, it's not the kind of music that I actually listen to but it does sound EXACTLY like Chiana doing a lounge act in the Uncharted Territories. It makes me think of the scene in Nerve in the officer's lounge. I can just see it now -- the spotlight finds Chiana on the PK lieutenant's lap. The audience eggs her on: "Give us a song!" She stands, slinks to the stage, and breaks into a freeform sultry, techno aria.
You listen to it and tell me you can't see it too! :D

This was mearly one suggustion of how to approach this. Whatever your plan that would be OK by me. Also I would be glad to forward the e-mail I recieved from Peacetime Productions if you want to look at it, but all the info above covers what they told me.

Thanks FrellinScarren! I've already sent an e-mail to PtP to get the specifics "in writing" directly from them on all the details. Once I hear back from them AND have a good idea of how many pre-orders I can really count on, I'll get info on shipping prices and post all the final details.

Between FMD and Kansas, only 14 people have currently committed to buying a disc. So unless we get a LOT more interest very quickly I'm not going to move forward with the bulk buy.
I'll let y'all know by the end of the week (if not sooner) whether the numbers make sense to go ahead so that you'll be able to make your own individual purchases if the bulk buy doesn't happen.
In any event, if you want a copy please let me know ASAP.

I wouldn't mind having one, but I'm saving up for the Season 2 box set right now, so I couldn't buy one. However, I do have a few bucks I'd chip in to get some for the library project or military project or swag or what have you. Perhaps you could get the donations you need for all of them that way.

This isn't a bad idea. Using them for swag, gifts, prizes, etc. could be a good way to get to our total number. I'd also be willing to chip in for some for this purpose.

Okay, we're up to 22. Even with some people chipping in a few bucks, we're a long, long, long way of making it feasible to order 150.
If you're part of a local Scaper group, why don't you send out a message to your mailing list. See if the group would like to go in together to buy some of the CDs for future raffles, swag, prizes, etc. You could save even more if a number of CDs all got shipped to one address and y'all worked it out from there how to get them to individual group members.
But we're on a deadline here so if you want a CD, LMK ASAP!

It might be difficult to get sufficient exposure for this in the forum over the span of just a few days. Since the fund gets a cut, do you think it would it be possible to get notice of this project sent as a message through the Yahoo SaveFarscapeAnnouncements group? That way it will go directly to a lot more interested people in a very short time.
BTW, I'll take one, too, so I'll PM you with a confirmation, atlantagirl.

Unfortunately, we only made it to 28 so I'm pulling the plug as far as offering to be the organizer. It looks as though it will be too hard a roe to hoe to get the entire lot sold, and I don't have THAT much time (or extra cash). :(
If anyone else wants to organize the bulk buy, be my guest. Otherwise, I hope everyone who expressed an interest will go on over to the distributor's web site (see the first post in this thread) and order the disc direct. It will cost a few dollars more, but it's a great way to support Gigi! :D :D
