Panel/Discussion Ideas, Boston FS gathering

A Boston con is being planned, tra la tra la.

So far I'm the planner for programming, ie, Events, Panels, Discussions. I have no lack of ideas for events, but as for fan panel and discussion topics, if left up to me, they'd all be "Farscape vs....?", which I'm sure would run out of steam quickly. Not that I don't want to see a "Farscape vs Red Dwarf" debate.

Anywho, so turn I to you - attendees, potential attendees and people not attending but who like to make suggestions - for... er, suggestions.

What discussion and panel topics would fire your synapses and unleash the Powwwwer of Imaaaagination? No need to suggest events, too, unless you can't make it through the day without it. We'd hate to be the cause of unfulfilled sleep.

I for one would still like to have the banquet and show to go on. I would still like to have the live yahoo list meets. What about the rest of you? The ones that been to scapercon should let your voices be heard. This is your chance to make this con into what you really want it to be.

Hi,

Yeah, it's me again. Well, what I would like see come back in this con in ScapeSpeare and the Scape Musical. They did those two every year that they had scapercon and it was a lot of fun watching them. I would also like to see FarScape Bingo come back again this year. Why am I the only one give ideas about this? Where are the rest of you from scapercon? Let's make this one of the best cons ever.

At Dragon*Con, many of the fan panels for shows can often be pure speculation. So you might have topics like:

1. What is the exact nature of DRD's. Mechanical, biomechanism or strictly organic. How does 1812 affect the mix? Do Leviathans have stairs?

2. What did the crew do on their summer vacation? Chianas has definately had some hard times. Crichton went a little crazy. Aeryn was a hired gun. You fill in the blanks.

3. Can you list all the pop culture references. Which are most common or are reoccuring themes.

4. Way back when, the speculation on the father of Aeryn's baby was a hot topic. You can still speculate is John REALLY the father? How does having Pilot's DNA affect the outcome, or will it?

5. Who is the better villian? Is Scorpius a villian or misunderstood. If not, who then holds the honors. Should physical violence be the criteria, or mental domination and control?

6. What is the nature of "good" and "bad" on the other side of the universe.

7. John Crichton: Latent Genius, Mentally Manipulated or Just Plain Stupid? You decide. Is he really a wormhole genius, or is he being controlled by the Ancients?

8. Wormholes can cut through time. What would be a good time for the crew of Moya to visit and why? If they go forward, can they steal inventions and make a fortune off the patents in the past?

9. What is Earth's future?

10. Have we seen the last of Grayza and the Peacekeepers. I doubt it. So what do they want with Crichton now. Do they still want the technology or is there something else. And what lies in store for the Scarrans.

11. Foodscape: The Farscape Cuisine. When they mention certain foods, what do you think they would taste like? The Coup By Clams clams looked like jello, would it taste like that too?

12. Which woman really kicks ass. Aeryn, who always maintains control, or Chiana, who dives into life both good and bad with gusto.

These discussions can be really fun since there are no right answers and everyone has an opinion.

Other panels can include factual topics like:

1. Quick tips and suggestions for making Farscape props or costume parts. Where to get patterns. Best fabric to use. Who sells the boots.

2. Merchandising. What is out there. What is worth the money. What would you like to see.

3. Advertising within copyright margins. How FMD did it, and how you can do it on a local level.

4. What have they done, where are they now. A focus on the works past, present and potential future of the cast members. Or you could even have a panel focusing on some of the completely awesome supporting and guest actors and actresses too.

5. And for the technologically challenged you could have Navigating the Net: Farscape Style. Show people how to do avatars, photoshops stuff, have a handout of good websites, how to do their own fan site and what legalities to avoid.

I have a stupid question but when is the Boston con going to be again? My sister are trying to decide which con we are going to go to next year and it is either between Burbank, ComicCon, and the Boston con.

All we know for sure is that it will be sometime in June. They didn't set a date yet.
