Okay... I have been watching this show... and one thing bothers me. Why are they NOT WEARING bulletproof vests. All the cops I know in Chicago all wear vests. Heck the cops I know in Grand Rapids wear vests... this is LA where they are located. You would think that they would be wearing them.

Anyway... I like the characters... and the storyline isn't that bad. I don't know if it will last... but it is an enjoyable hour.

How do you know they aren't wearing vests. I didn't notice so I'm asking. I would think they would, it's policy now in many major cities.

I like the show. It's worth watching. This guy gets more action without even trying than James Bond.

He's an interesting character.

they are not wearing vests. Usually they are the same color as their shirts... and have pockets and everything that the shirts have... but you can tell they are their by looking at their shoulders. These cops are not wearing vests.

Ok. I use to have a vest and you wouldn't be able to tell I was wearing it when it was under my shirt. It wasn't noticeable.

watch out for most cops... they wear them on the outside... and you can see them. when they are underneath you can still tell... cause they make you a little thicker than normal around the chest area.

Well I'm thick in the head, so it evens out.

no street cop wears a vest outside of their uniform shirt on patrol. the vests you are referring to are tactical vests used on search warrants, riot control, etc. they are constructed different. most have multiple ceramics trauma plates all over them, accounting for the extra bulk. they are black and don't have pockets. swat vests can be made with a detchable pocketing system. teams can then set them up per the user's job specs...medic supplies, extra breaching rounds for doors, etc.

the most popular concealable street cop vest is now made from a hybrid material of kevlar and spectrashield, and typically has only one ceramic trauma plate. the vests are thinner, light and pliable

vests also are not bullet proof. they are ballistic. they have tolerance levels and are incapable of stopping rounds that exceed those tolerance levels.

I live in a small town, but even here all the cops wear vests.
