Is anyone else watching this show? I can't remember the last time a television show has made me laugh out loud like The Office can. The second season just started on BBC America a week and a half ago and the first season is out now on DVD.

Oh jeepers, I was about to start a thread, but I couldn't imagine that there wasn't one already so I searched and found this. Has anyone else see this show? It is a riot. When Gareth is talking about sloppy seconds. :spew: It is a shame that it is only 2 seasons.

Awww... I take it you didn't like it. Having worked in several corporations, I recognize some of the characters as people I've had to deal with. Pretty scarey really.

Oh I recognised many of the characters, which is probably why I won't work in an office any more..:lol
To be honest, I only watched the christmas special from begining to end, never watch a whole episode......and I am probably the only person I know who doesn't like the show, (similarly "Only Fools and Horses" which I detest), but its the parody of reality TV, which I should find amusing, but I don't.

Okay, I feel bad now...I feel like I killed the thread.....:(
Sell me on it..

:lol You didn't kill it. Check the dates on this thread. ;)
I rented Season 1 from Netflix, so I got to watch everything in order and fairly close together. I'm sure that makes a difference. I do remember thinking that if I were currently working in an office, I would probably kill myself.
As for describing it, it is so hard to do. But when they harrass Gareth, glue his phone, put his stapler in jelly, get him to sound like a poof... you just got to see it. The special you saw, which I haven't, is at the end of the series.

Same here!
Its only funny to watch when you dont have to go work in that environment everyday.
As I work at home, I find it hysterical. When they pick on Gareth its the best.

Oh my...
Yeah I guess I should watch the begining first.....it would make more sense.....
The christmas special was kinda sad and depressing......maybe I just had bad experiences working in offices...:lol .....and it reminded me too much of them.
Its very close to home....Slough is just round the corner from here.......and many of the characters are like the geezers who drink in my local at lunch time, all from the local offices. Its like going to the pub at office kicking out time, sitting down and watching the suits jawing about thier day.......well not far off it...:lol

Actually, it may hit too close to home for you. But what do I know about shows hitting close to home. I just found out last night that according to the Simpsons, I live in Hitler City, NC.

No, Bart accidentally mooned the American flag, and things got blown out of proportion. The mayor of Springfield was so embarrassed, that he said "We'll have to change the name of the town, just like Hitler City, NC changed to Charlotte." I nearly fell off the sofa. :lol

In regards to only fools and horses, I watched the very first series the first time it was on - which very few other people actually did - but I've never watched it since. I thought it was okay but nothing special. So take heart, you are not alone

...*Heck You Know I like it.......Actually I thought the office was very very clever and extremely well done....but I can understand why some wouldnt like it...I often found it almost painful to watch...sometimes Nigh impossible... :nopeek:

Well you are a medic. I guess that is one way to bring in business and give yourself job security.

Job creation....yep, thats the ticket.
Thats probably why I didn't like it, it is very well done and very true to life. I can't watch medical programes either, casualty and the like. I just end up shouting at the TV......"No, you don't do it like that, you just killed the patient"
Maybe that the response it is suppose to elicit, but I don't call that entertainment

That was one thing about the second season. I just wanted to scream at the tv sometimes. It was painful to watch the manger make an ass of himself, just because he was so desperate for approval and friends. I know so many people like that. It is really just so sad and pathetic.

Okay so we all agree that it is painful and sad........so why is it so "funny"....see thats what I don't get

Maybe people like it because we all need to laugh at ourselves.
Of course, I also get a kick out of watching Gareth try to hit on the ladies, telling them he doesn't do sloppy seconds and such. I have met guys like him. It is funnier to watch when you are not on the recieving end.
