I was planning on doing a "Won't Get Fooled Again" and a LG&M wallpaper since their my favorite eps, so I'll start with those first. Actually, I'll do the one with Jenavian Chatto since the con is coming up, then I'll start with the two I mentioned earlier and work through your list kechara420! This is going to be fun! A couple of small typos on the Jenavian image. You're missing a space: "heardor" should be "heard or". And there should be one after the comma on the attribution: "Jenavian,Look At..."

I saw your Sikozu wallpapers Matt and they look great. I really like the simplicity of them, sometimes some of the wallpapers out there are kind of crazy there's so much going on!

janey_13, glad to see you are mixing up the backgrounds... I've added them to my "screen saver" file (up to about 1,500 wallpapers & screencaps), but the early one's looked kinda funny if they came up back to back (it is random).

I especially like the fact that the background for "Unrealized Realities' looks like a wormhole.

'Unrealized Realities' is one of my favorites now because of the background. I love Photoshop, it can do a lot of neat effects and most of them are by accident!

Once I finish with my lists of requests, I'm going to go back and tweak some of the older ones. Like mixing up the backgrounds and changing out some of the pictures (like the large one of D'Argo has always bugged me).

Why not PM BritAngie? She has an extensive collection of Crichton pics, and has the means to get one for you to meet your specifications. It can't hurt to ask her.

Your wallpapers are very nice. I agree that I like the simple, elegant ones the best. I've snurched a few of these for my PC! I especially like the "bulletin board" one.

I originally started doing a Talyn version of the film strip wallpaper, but there's not much variety in the pictures available for him. I found one picture I liked, but it was kind of small, so I recreated it in Photoshop. I'm actually quite pleased with how it turned out if I do say so myself!

There is a 'film strip' of many of the secondary bad guys (no Scorpius, Braca, or Grayza. But I would like to make a Scorpius, Grayza, and Braca one and I would like to make one with the Scarrens, Kalish, and Charrids. And maybe another with just the Scarrens (which I started and keep redoing!).

scapergin, click on the link to the full-sized image, once it loads if you have a PC right click on the image and select set as background, if you have a Mac click and hold until a popup menu opens and select a similar option to the PC users (I don't know the exact wording).

I'm working on a Jool version (although it's not going as planned, as usual), then I will make a Chiana version, and an Aeryn version. Then I'll move on making some of the boys :D

Matt, your wallpapers are great! Don't put your self down like that!

I use Photoshop 7.0. Most of the backgrounds are made by just playing around with the filters.

I promise I'll make an Aeryn one next! After that, I'd like to make a Rygel one b/c there aren't many of them out there of him!

I'll have an Aeryn one posted sometime today.

I've never used PSP, but what I do in Photoshop when I get a fuzzy image because I've enlarged it, I use filters to make it look like I meant it to look fuzzy or I change the opacity, or I put a textured layer over it. I'm not sure if there are such applications within PSP, but there probably are if you experiment around a bit with it.

I learned alot about Photoshop from online tutorials, just do a search on Google and you'll find tons. :D

I thought you were going to do some more of the cast similar to the rescent Sikozu/Aeryn/Rygel type wallpapers.....

Or a collection of all the women JC has been involved with..... or a JC as scorpy one.... ive not seen one of those before... or using the delvian scrypt style writing for the characters names and adding that to there wallpapers.....

I will have a think about it... if you dont mind me requesting things? I mean, really i would ask for Aeryn all day long... but who wouldn't:rollin:

An Interesting Background

I like that background effect that you used to fuzz up the background scenes -- looks a little like fine gauze, but cooler.

I think that is a LOT more impressive a way to use multiple scenes together than some (not all) of the other such attempts I've seen. And novel.

How'd you do the transition from that background to the overlay? They almost pop out at you!

Neat to see a talent develop new tricks over time. Keep up the good work!

I used a layer mask (in Photoshop) over each additional 'scene' layer. Once the layer mask is in place you drag the gradient tool over the layer and one side fades away.

I created the background using several different custom paintbrushes I found online, I liked how it turned out too. In my opinion, the background really sets the tone for the whole piece and it's what usually inspires me to pick certain pictures for the foreground.

Glad you liked it and hopefully my 'wallpaper block' is over :D

The best advice I could give to anyone just starting out in Photoshop is to do tutorials (there are tons online and in magazines). By doing tutorials you pick up a lot of the functionality of Photoshop and it gives you practice.

The second bit of advice I would give would be just to play around with it especially with the filters, many of the cool effects that are in my wallpapers are happy accidents.

I created the background for the Zhaan wallpaper in three steps:

1) I selected a blue color as my foreground and white as my background and I went to Filters > Render Clouds

2) I used a specialty brush (downloaded it from http://share.studio.adobe.com/axDownloadBasket.asp) in white that gave a nice dashed grid pattern

3) Then I used another specialty brush and filled the entire page with it

3) I blurred both layers 1 & 3 using Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur

Filters are awesome for backing interesting backgrounds. On the most recent Stark wallpaper, I got a picture of Moya flying through the sacred space, stretched it to fit the entire wallpaper, and then applied two or three filters to it anf VIOLA!

Fun textures can be achieved using filters and custom brushes, I really reccommend the link above for fun brushes, patterns, and custom shapes.

The Chi ones is amazing, truely amazing. And i cant wait to see the sikozu and jool ones, with work as good as this i'd even settle for a noranti one as well;)

Hello Janey just wanted to say your wallpapers are really amazing and I am glad on page 13 or 14 you posted a bit on the how you made the Zaan WP. I hope (as Matt) that I can also make such masterpieces.

I also wanted to say thanks for both making all these for everyone to share and for those great links to Photoshop tutorials.

For some reason, Sikozu and Jool wallpapers always take longer. I think it's the amount of red in their costumes and hair, the images react to the different filters and layer modes differently to everyone else.

But, now on to business, without further ado... SIKOZU!

Thanks for the kind words, but I didn't frame his eyes, the cameraperson did! I just took the screen shot and stretched it over the entire wallpaper. I added the scan lines and the blue texture. :D

Hiya janey sorry I am so used to other forums I lose track of some of the posts. Sorry I haven't replied fast enough. You made 3 wallpapers since I last saw this. They are excellent. As usual. Great use of colors to accentuate the characters!

To answer your question I just did a bit of Photoshopping and cleaned up some of the screen captures I have found. I would like to do my own captures as I have seen so many great Prowler shots in my DVD collection but I don't have a DVD Rom in my PC yet. :(

It would be amazing if you could do a Prowler Wallpaper. I am setting up my site for prowler stuff which will include some drawings I have made but right now I am stuck playing with hand coding the website.

I would be happy to provide you with some Prowler shots if you tell me stuff like your desired resolutions and size of image etc. I have tried making wallpapers but they distort when I enlarge the image.

Keep up the great work janey I love the wallpapers you do.

I had the same problem with screen caps getting to pixelated, but you have to work around it by either:

1) Finding better screen caps, I like:

2) Use the fun filters (Gaussian blur jagged edges) and blending modes (I like overlay, multiply, luminocity, and screen) to your advantage

p.s. I appreciate the info on the Photoshop tools you use I will give it a try. I know just enough Photoshop to really frell things up to hezmana, but I am learning. :)
