"Let's not tell Slone about the Magnets"

I really enjoyed last night's Alias. Syd/Loren action bonding, Marshal doing field work, Slone getting off on irony and making everyone squirm. All good.

Sydney: I think that the people who think that Syd was irresponsible for placing the tracking device on Voughn can't have been putting themselves in her place. When things go bad you play for time and take care of the most immediate concerns first. The immediate concern was saving Voughns life, given her talents and what she knew about the job's timetable, she had every reason to think that she could salvage the situation with the bio-weapon. Her non-response to the massacre was a bit creepy though, not that I wanted to see self-flagulation, but some sign that Syd felt bad/guilty about the outcome would have been nice.

Voughn: That dream was interesting. Does he feel that Syd was on some level justified in stabbing him?

Jack: Can't you find someone that Sark doesn't know to do these little jobs? I did like that he didn't waste much time yelling a Syd for changing the mission, cause even if he disagreed with her priorities, it was a done deal and all that was left to do was to try to save Vougn's life.

Dixon: (who's he? I don't know him anymore)

Loren: Her look of utter delight during the car chase was. so. cute. High speed car chases as female bonding hehehe (and not in a Thelma & Louise manner). I still want her and Syd to become bestest friends and give Vougn hell.

Marshal: That actor does such a great job, I loved the Texan gambler act. and that Hat! No sign of Carrie though. I do wonder what the nature of their relationship is. He's on cloud nine, but she seems pretty cool towards him. Not enough information.

Slone: Slone as a double agent is delicously ironic, as it was supposed to be. He gets such a kick out of watching people squirm. I was disappointed that he still had both his arms though (as I imagine was Sydney and co, Marshal's magnet comment had me rolling).

Last night's episode made me want to slap the hell out of Lauren. I never wanted to do that until last night, but now I'm glad she's a fictional character because otherwise I'd have to.

I'm glad I was right about the tracking device. We were discussing this at Kansas, and we figured she must have put it on him.

I can't stand Lauren. What right does she think she has to dictate whay Syd does? I keep hoping she'll end up being bad, so Vaughn will have to ice her to save Syd. I think the dream shows that he still has feelings for Syd. It looked to me like he was kind of disappointed when he woke up and it was Lauren there, not Syd.

I like Lauren.

I think that after your husband's ex, who's still in love with your husband, and who your husband may still be in love with, has stabbed him and put him into a potentially irreversable coma (even with the best of intentions), you've got a right to be irrational on the subject for a couple of days.

Vougn, I'm not too thrilled with these days. I'm not sure why.

I can understand why she's the way she is, but she's killing the shippiness of the show. She just cramps Syd's style, so I'm hoping she goes. But I would like to see more of Lena Olin. If they can work bad Francie into next week's show, surely they can find a way to bring SpyMommy back!

I would rather they get rid of Vaugn and Loren and just have Syd struggle without them.

What's killing the ship is that they are writting Voughn as an idiot.

Well, you do have a point. He's been irritating ever since the new season started. And it's not that I want them making out all the time, because I think that's what ruins a lot of good shows. To be honest, I liked the show better before they got together. But I like there to be a little sexual tension without bringing someone else on the show to interfere. I'm just afraid they're gonna try to put Syd's character together with Weiss, and that would just kill everything. I think Jack could use a little lovin' too, so SpyMommy needs to turn good again or pretend to be good or whatever. Everyone else on the show is doing it, why shouldn't she?

I'd like to see Lena Olin again too. But from what little gossip I've heard about the show, there might be some RL issues with getting the actress.

Is it just me or is the writing a bit sloppy this season?
And I miss Will!! :grr:
Franciebot will be interesting next week though.... will have to wait and see.

Yeah, I thought that same thing. I kinda feel bad for Lauren. How does one handle the not dead ex girlfriend??

Since I'm not a shipper, I don't harbor any hostility towards Lauren. But the poor actress who plays Lauren really has a thankless job, doesn't she? I enjoyed the car chase; you could tell she was totally getting off on it. Not only is she suspicious of Sydney because of Vaughn, but also because she's a frustrated pencil pusher who wants to be field agent!

I would love to see Lena Olin come back. She was awesome, and her character's dynamic with Sydney and Jack was fascinating. Somehow, seeing her chat with Jack over the computer just doesn't cut it. ;)

One thing about last night's episode that I noticed more than usual was the use of music. Especially, the transition between the two versions of that song at the very end. Nice.

I don't care about any ships. Syd/Vaughn, Vaughn/Lauren. I just don't like Lauren's character. I think the actress is doing a great job, but it doesn't make me like the character any more.

I find this Syd/Vaughn/Lauren thing just not well written. This show usually is better than this silly oldgirlfriend/injuredman/wifey thing. Come on - Sydney forgets her coat! My hope is that there is a lot more to Lauren than we think- and she will get more interesting. I, too, would like to slap her!!

I think the writing is not so good this season - hope it improves soon. The shower scene (yawn) should improve the ratings among that certain age group I guess !!!

To all of you who are getting tired of the shippy stuff and especially the triangle: straight up! I absolutely agree. I've been disappointed in other shows before, but this season is lettin me down quite a bit. It's not horrible. Not at all, it's just much lower par than S1. S2, however, you could probably beat with a show about crimesolving monkeys from beyond the grave (coming to Scifi, 2004).

This ain't friggin OC:Spy, it's Sydney Bristow: Espionage Princess; Destroyer of Super-Evil!

I really expected so much more from the folks at the JJ farm. Having everything centered around 'Syd's poor wittwe bwoken heawt' makes me wanna throw my TV into the lake. I tolerated and sometimes even liked that sorta stuff as the peripheral story line, but this is the pits. V-yawn and Syd just dont peg it for me either. They always seemed like the kind of couple that would have looked great in high school, but you know if they stay together, they're destined for the double-wide trailer and broken down 1982 Z28 with no tires.

All that aside, this episode was ok. SpyDaddy gunning down GreasyPerv was a nice touch. But as I've said on other boards, it seems like they're just trying to reuse and splice together elements from the first season into new stories. It doesn't feel genuine. There's some magic gone. =[

wow... that is exactly how I feel about the Syd and V-yawn(I love that term). They don't have ANY chemistry on screen... it always seemed forced.

It is all quite distressing. How do some shows go south suddenly? Alcoholism? Drug Addiction? Can't be, Law and Order is still going strong and has reproduced, NYPD Blue is still doing ok.

I wonder what the secret ingredient is. Skiffy may know, but somehow Farscape was innoculated, so they just outright killed it rather than a slow poisoning death.

Sad, it really is.

ROFL! That sounds like Trailer Trash Barbie & Ken! Although I liked SpyDaddy blowing away GreasyPerv (love that name too!), it might have been more entertaining if they had kept him around for awhile. Who knows? Maybe a little action going on with him & "Julia", Syd decides she sick of putting up with the love triangle crap, and goes rogue. It's been done a few times, but amusing nonetheless. And that ought to satisfy you non-shippers as well.
