Does anyone know where one can have special effect contact lenses made? Lens Crafters shot me a really weird look when I asked for Black lenses.

I did a search on Google and came up with a few sites that sell costume contact lenses (that's what I searched on), including this one (they have a black style):
http://www.top-costumes.com/costume_contact_lenses.php

But I also came up with an article warning about the dangers of wearing them here:
http://www.aao.org/aao/news/release/20031027.cfm

Don't know how true the article is, but it's something to be aware of.

Good luck!

Its an interesting article. And I am sure it has its merits. Its one of two reasons I probably would not go with an unliscensed dealer, the other being I need prescription contacts.

Lens Crafter offers some colors, and can get the all white ones, but the Black is not in their supply catalogs. And I'me not willing to pay the price for custom jobs.

atleast not yet.......

Guess I should have figured you were going for prescription from the fact that you went to Lenscrafters :). I didn't see any sites at all that had prescription costume lenses (I searched initially because I needed prescription ones, too).

Maybe someone else has found a solution to the problem?

That link will show you where your nearest dealer is. And you must have a prescription for these :).

I used this company for my Chiana contacts

Lens Quest - "Pinhead Contacts" (http://www.lensquest.com/scripts/productLens.asp/prodid%3D479/ProductID%3D338/do%3Ddetail)

The pupil is clear so you can see through it, but that also means if you have light coloured eyes sometimes they can see a sliver of blue in the middle of the black... it's not very noticeble though and I quite like my Chiana contacts. :)

Good luck!
