There's this cool stuff, Fosshape, and Wonderflex. You can make almost anything with Wonderflex, and the Fosshape stuff is awesome for moldable wearables.
You could make Stark's mask, Sikouzu's molded upper bodice.....even a pulse pistol! All it takes is basic skills, and voila you have it!
I make hats for a living, and just flipped over this info, which I just found this a.m. I can make hatblock molds! Awesome application ideas about.....so many things you can make!

Check out the products at:

And speaking of the "hat," now that makes me think of some other hat from season 4 of farscape that's just begging to be made with that stuff.

...so how exactly do we order it? Do I have to register with a fake business or something to get it shipped, or what? And anybody know how much it costs?

EDIT

I see the first page now. Heh. I'm blind. That's not too expensive, though. Nice to know I could probably put together a pulse pistol now for less than $40 if I bend the stuff right. It'll be hollow in the middle, but that's ok. Prop's just for show anyway, right?

Great find, guys.

Wow, thanks, atomicblue!

the funny thing is, I have used fosshape before, fairly recently, on some things for Monsters Inc. on ice, and I didn't even think about it for this forum. I guess that is because I don't really do lots of crafts, and I don't work in purchasing, so I had so idea how expensive (or not, relatively speaking, it turns out) it is.

I haven't worked with the wonderflex, but I have worked with a thermoplastic product (i'll see if I can get particulars), and one thing I have found is that these products do work best if you can mold them over something, rather than trying to do it free form. Also, we used either an iron or a heat gun to heat the products, I don't know if a blow dryer would get hot enough on high heat or not for the wonderflex, and we didn't try it on the fosshape, since we have a heat gun. The fosshape does shrink as you mold it, do cut it bigger than you need, and I had better luck working from the center to the edges.

Happy molding!

I checked the price list on the website, and the fossshape/wonderflex runs from $9/yd for lightweight to $41/yd for heavyweight.
