I think we need this thread for such a great show.

Anybody watch last night's ep? "Fur and Loathing in Las Vegas" :rollin:

"So we're looking for a wolf in.... wolf's clothing?"

"Scritching???"

"Well, that's what happens when you eat --- :kitty: "

I know some Furrs who have their hackles up at that episode. Apparently it wasn't an accurate dipiction of their lifestyle. OK - but it WAS funny. "Scritching" is a word used in the fur comminity. As is "yiffy." Incidently, "scritching" means grooming and "yiffy" means anything with sexual content (So, CSI did some research). Personally, if you're gonna dress up as animals and make up a language - ya gotta expect people to laugh at you.

That's one of those eps that make me say "and they say sci-fi fans are weird!" God, that had the BEST lines in it! It took me a little while to realize that Rocky Raccoon was run over - like roadkill! :D

The bad part is that it turned me off to any dressing up for Halloween! Not to mention that I saw a guy dressed up as Scooby-Doo, and wondered how many people tried to scritch him. :D

Plushies... I'd heard of them, but I hadn't believed.

That episode had me :rollin: and :roflmao: . My roommate thought I was insane!
Incidentally, is it true that the episode that was supposed to air a few weeks ago (can't remember the name at the moment) didn't because of the World Series? Just curious, 'cause I was kinda mad when I went back to watch my tape and it was a rerun.

I was hoping someone would start a CSI thread. :)

That has got to have been one of the most bizzare CSI eps I've ever seen. :rollin:

The looks on Kathryn's face when she was going over the costumes or trying to interrogate them were priceless. :rollin:

I think she looked like I felt - what the frell? :g2f:

We were wondering at work if there actually were people who did this - so thanks Frellstar for clearing that up. I figured there were but some of my co-workers were like "no way".

Rahr!

I just recently got into CSI and this ep was about the 10th I've seen (actually, yes, I have been living under a rock) and it was abolutely hilarious. Perhaps the most quotable hour of television in recent times.

The "well that's what happens when you eat-" was priceless. Jeez, and I thought Farscape eps were weird.

I'm loving this show.

Yeah, the ep is called "Invisible Evidence" and it didn't air because CBS was worried about World Series competition. I hope it gets aired soon because it's an outstanding ep (I've seen it through...other means...)..

I usually watch CSI but I haven't been watching it for the past couple of weeks. I guess that I'll have to get caught up when they start showing reruns.

The title of this ep, BTW, was "Fur and Loathing In Las Vegas". :D And no, Naren Shankar did NOT write this one! I usually check the writers to see when his scripts air. They're usually the best ones. Then again, I'm slightly biased. ;)

And yes, furries and plushies do exist. A friend of mine stumbled across alt.sex.plushies back when Usenet was readable. She got quite a surprise...

Some of the great quotes form this ep!!!

----------------------------------------------
Willow: "The eternal question.... why did the man in the raccoon suit cross the road?"

----------------------------------------------
Gris: "It's Vegas. Everybody comes here to be an animal."

----------------------------------------------
Willow: "A man lives alone. Has no relatives. No attachments. So he forms his own furry, little family."

----------------------------------------------
Gris: "So we're looking for a wolf... in wolf's clothing."

----------------------------------------------
PAFCON Speaker: "We gather here today to embrace our innner animal. And it bring our true natures to bare... so to speak."

----------------------------------------------
Gris: "I guess we're lucky that blue is not a more popular color."

Sexy Kitty: "Hellllllooooooooo.... This is racial profiling."

----------------------------------------------
Sexy Kitty: "It started as a scritch. Then everyone got into a fur pile. Pretty soon, we were all yiffing."

----------------------------------------------
Sexy Kitty: "If I don't have my costume on, I pretty much can't get yiffed."

----------------------------------------------
Willow: "WOOOOAH Nelly!"

----------------------------------------------
Willow: "It's bad enough that Raccoon Boy blows his girl friend off to go fur piling. He gets sick licking some nasty kitty. And makes Lamb Chop drive him home."

----------------------------------------------

MORE EP QUOTES BELOW

One of the greatest tiny little details in the entire ep was Wolfman Jack’s reaction during the interrogation:
------------------------------------------------
Gris: “What did Rocky do you you?

Wolf: “He’s a raccoon. They’re all lowlifes…. grrrrrrrr….. I mean, honestly. What do they do? …. grrrrrrrr…..screw…. grrrrrrrr…..eat garbage…. grrrrrrrr…..screw some more.”
------------------------------------------------
Creepy. Just plain creepy.
And then you have probably the best scene of all:

------------------------------------------------
Gris: “Well, clearly this kitty costume is where Bud felt safe enough to scritch. I wonder if he also felt safe enough to explore some of the more aggressive aspects of his animus.”

Willow: “So, if we follow the Ipecac and civet oil, maybe it’ll lead us to the shooter… I don’t see a compartment for a concealed rifle……… Okay… well, I’ve heard of some guys getting off in some weird ways. But humping an animal suit? I mean, whatever happened to normal sex?”

Gris: “What is normal sex?”

Willow: “Uhh…. You think it’s natural for a grown human to only be intimate with a talking animal?”

Gris: “Well, Freud said that the only unnatural sexual behavior was to have non at all. And, after that, it’s just a question of opportunity and preference… And, evidently, many prefer the feel of fur to the texture of human skin.”

Willow: “Well, I like hairy chests, but I’m not about to bop a 6-foot weasel!”

Tech: “Bud is starting to look like a pretty bad cat… trace from his costume.”

Gris: “Well… Identical to the trace we found in Rocky Raccoon’s vomit. Ipecac and civet oil.”

Tech: “Well, that’s what you get when you eat… ( :kitty: )”

OK, on behalf of my Furr friends and the owners of the Cafe le Furr in Denver - I make the following statement about Furrs.

Only about ten percent of Furrs own fur-suits, the rest wear regular clothes and a tail. Not all Furrs are sexual fetishists, some just feel a very strong attachment to their animal totem. I myself have never witnessed any "yiffy" behavior. I actually kind of like them. I mean sure, they think of themselves as anthropomorphic animals, but they are a friendly lot. They've patted my head and rubbed my tummy. Odd behavior for adults, but I don't mind physical contact, as long as no one grabs my breasts - which; I may point out, they havn't.

I've never met a "Plushie." I know those are people who love stuffed animals - but I've never met one.

I forgot to bump this last week. Did anybody catch last week's season opener? What an awesome ep! They jam-packed that hour with three separate crime scene plot lines, re-introduced all the regular actors, gave insight into each of those characters' personal termoils, introduced a new character, and even made an inside joke about Eads & Fox's firing/rehiring from this past summer. Very taut, clever, interconnected, well-written, well-acted, and amusing. It's what makes this show (IMHO) the best current primetime drama on the four major networks (and just about the only thing I watch on CBS, along with Joan of Arcadia).

Good episode.

However, I can't stomach the Miami version... and I'm still up in the air for the new New York version. That one has to be good in order for me to skip Law & Order.... Why, oh why, oh why couldn't they have moved CSI Miami to Wednesday?

trubador

The Miami version is so swarmy (or is that "smarmy"?). And they killed off the best actor on the show (Rory Cochran/Speedle) in the season opener -- go figure. I watched the Miami ep last night to see if they would do any follow-up to the loss of that character.... nada, zip, zero... as if everything was back to normal. I've now officially stopped watching the Miami version. The jury's still out on the NY version, though. I'm reserving judgement until I see a few more eps.

I only watch the original CSI and L&O - the spinoffs seem like watered-down versions to me.

And CSI:New York is filmed in LA... lame. :)

trubador

So's the Vegas version. :D Only the wide angle setup shots and a small handful of scenes are actually in Vegas. Most of the show is shot in LA studio lots and the surrounding LA area. (The same thing with NYPD Blue).

And I found info re: Rory Cochrane from some fan site that said he wanted to concentrate on motion pictures. Apparently, he's involved in another Richard Linklater project (director of "Dazed and Confused").

Yeah, but there's no film industry in Vegas, so it's not a big surprise they don't film there.

New York has a pretty extensive film industry. If Law & Order can film there, it seems cheap for CSI:NY to fake it...

Agreed, though it sounds like all the filming in the streets of New York is awfully hard on the folks who play the detectives.

Funny things is... I can't find anything in the entertainment news as to why he left the show.

He pulled a "Caruso", ironically enough. Wanted to "explore other options" besides CSI:M. You would think that DC would have given him lots of career advice, like DON'T DO IT!!! :D

Oh, my God! They killed Speed! You bastards!
