seeing twich's thread made me wonder how many people are going and how many are'nt.

If your not, is money the main reason? If so, maybe for next year we could arrange a travel group to get people out there for less.

I might have mentioned this before, but...

It's not that I'm glad that other people are also unable to go. I guess it's just nice to see other familiar names who will be on the board that week.

Before Twich started the other thread...I thought pretty much everyone was going, and that I was gonna be all alone. :(

I cannot afford burbank but I am also disappointed to see that creation has got the entire cast there this year including executive producers but still has left out 2 key players - Anthony Simcoe and Wayne Pygram
I understand that their band was a big success last year.
I do not think it is an official Farscaoe convention without D'argo or Scorpius.

frelled..

no money, no one to go with, etc...

I only heard that "a deal couldn't be brokered" for Misters Simcoe and Pygram. I mean, I consider it a given that they were asked. Post-Scapercon, that is. I recall that some were lamenting not having been asked, but the operative word at the time was a big YET.

Oh, and please don't hate me for going!

Not in the face! Not in the face!!!

Anthoney and Wayne aren't going because Creation won't let the band play this year.
As for those of you feeling Frelled. I've been to the Creaton con in New York the year Ben announced the skiffy would pick up fith season of Farscape...Also Creation has lousy orginaztional skills.
They pack you in like sardines and you sit in those hard metal folding chairs without padding. It's a zoo. The whole experience was a disaster except for the sites visiting in New York, which was fantanstic.
After you've been to Scapercon you are pretty much spoiled for life.:smokin: Yes, Burbank would be fun just to run into old friends but other than that don't feel bad. I just miss all the friends I made Chicago. Of course they may annouce something special, I don't know.

Someone else will have to answer this. I just know Anth and Wayne feel strongly that the band was not invited back this year

I had heard that Creation had reneged on an offer for the band to play but thought that it was just a rumour.
If it is true I admire Anth and Wayne for their solidarity in terms of wanting the original deal.
The band is a secondary income for them and one that they devote alot of time and energy to.
I agree with another post that says Creation has poor organizational skills.
Last year at the New York convention they had Virginia Hey signing autographs with music video speakers practically on top of her blaring full blast.
And the trooper that she is - not one complaint!
Creation also did not monitor lines and people kept jumping the que because no one was keeping things in order in terms of calling out the rows to go up next for autographs.
The fans were all fantastic and orderly but Creation was frelled in how they were running things even though their staff was polite and friendly.
At the cocktail party they had the guest stars seated right next to the speakers for the dancing going full blast during photo ops.
And again none of them were anything but cool & professional.
What is with Creation's thinking?

The conbooks were a terrific idea created by scapers who cannot go to
meet the cast and crew of Farscape at the Burbank Farscape Con in
November. We've been doing this since 2000 now and this may be our
last chance!!!

And even if you are going to Burbank, send in a message! They meet
hundreds, if not thousands of fans on the con circuit, but they will
remember your message and your picture in the conbook they will keep
at HOME.

So send in those messages! The first deadline is FRIDAY... Yes, THIS
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7!

General Rules:
Keep messages short
All messages will be read and censored or rejected if necessary. Keep
it clean
Poetry is ok. Fanfic is prohibited
1 picture per fan.
Further questions? Ask the person in charge of the book!!

I'm not going, but I wouldn't describe my frame of mind as "frelled". It had nothing to do with the money. I considered going, but decided on a different vacation instead. At the time I made the decision and non-refundable airline ticket purchase, Creation hadn't yet announced all the guests.

Plus, I had attended Comic-con and enjoyed that immensely.

I know my nature and I believe that if I over-expose myself to anything like this, the "specialness" goes away.

Maybe that's why I decided on something else. Since last year, I've attended three conventions with Farscape guests--one in Massachusetts, last December's Creation con in NY, and Comic-con. I'm pretty fortunate.

As someone else alluded to, Creation cons can be a mixed bag of the good and the not-so-good. So, a lot of things weighed in my decision.

I'm happy, though, for the show that this has turned into a well-attended event and I hope everyone who attends has a great time.

Could someone please explain what Fanfic means?

zelbinion
11-06-2003, 07:00 AM
fictional stories written by the fans.
If you goto the kansas site, there are quite a few farscape stories that were written by the fans. thus fanfic

I'm sure we could have found a venue outside of the Con venue after 7pm ... heck I would have donated a few bucks just to see them play:(

I answering "I cant afford" I pretty much can do at least one con a year, but not two. I tried that, as fun as it was it is draining on the financial resources!!

unfortunately i live on the other side of the continent. I tried to convince my friend to take a road trip, but gas alone probably wouldve killed us, then i wouldve been the kid sitting outside of the con with a cardboard sign reading "will work for autographs". It's too bad we couldnt just rent out a space somewhere on the east coast, and talk to the promoters into how cool it'd be to have a live satellite feed or something.oh well. either way, if anyone lives in the northeast or wants to travel, I say we get together and do something anyway!

I can't afford to go, and even if I could afford to, I have a work assignment that I can't get out of. I don't feel frelled, however, as I got to go to ComicCon (which was wonderful) and ScaperCon (which was a blast). I'm happy for those that are going, and you can BET that I'll be hanging out here, at Kansas, and in the #Farscape chatroom all weekend.

Frelled and envious (not a good combination). Can't afford it. I am, however, hellbent on getting to a sci fi convention at some point in my life.

Okay, so how about if I go, but promise to be miserable the whole time? >:-D

Yea, verily, Scapercon does spoil one. Who mentioned the Boston one? You mean SFX, I'm assuming. Man, that was a bang-bang-bang of cons one weekend after the next: UFC, SFX, then... Megafest, I think, which had Ms. Hey. I was wiped after SFX (but got to give Gigi a neato b-day present!), and at the time, Virginia was still going to have her cruise, so I thought, "What the hell, I'll see her on the cruise." D'OH!

(meaning, she cancelled later)

Yeah, I hadn't thought about the band. Duh! on me for not remembering that they'd want to perform.

Folks, wish I could give up-to-the-second play-by-plays for y'all, but I am laptopless. I said LAPtopless, not...! Oh, never mind.

So I'll post something after the fact on my LiveJournal.

I'm stuck at uni on the east coast. It's homecoming weekend, too, but the thing holding me back is a choir concert. If my grade didn't depend on it, I'd skip out and jet over to Cali. I mean, it's not like the people attending the concert have never heard The Messiah performed a dozen times before  !
*ETA: When is this "Frelled pity party" (joke) gonna be, and where can I sign up?

I can't afford to go so I'm stuck at home. I haven't been able to go to any Farscape con, and now it looks like I never will. :headbang:

I can't really afford to go, but if there had been anyway possible for me to have taken off from work, I think I might have taken out a loan!
