How old is John supposed to be? Aeryn?

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!

In Kansas, which takes place in 1985, John said he was 16 at this time -- that makes him 36.

No idea how old Aeryn is -- but you know better than to ask a chick her age -- especially one with a gun.

Oh, good they are starting a family, he's getting a little old for kids to be running around...

What about Aeryn, she supposed to be close to his age?

Is my math that bad? Shouldn't that make him 34?

There may be some continuity problems with John's age. I can't remember which episode it's in, but somewhere in the third season, John is talking to Harvey about going fishing with his Dad in Maine and looking up at the moon the night an American walked on it. I always thought he was referring to Neil Armstrong, who walked on the moon in 1969. Thus, he must have been about three or four, minimum, in 1969 - which would make him 37 or 38.

Although he could be talking about some of the later Apollo missions. When was the last one, 1974?

D'oh! You're right! I did it backwards -- he should be around 33 or 34. That would make him born in 1970.

Yeah -- I smell a big continuity no-no here.

My theory here is that TPTB probably started out on the basis that John was roughly the same age as Ben.

Then they got to season 4, looked at Ben, and thought, "Nah, no way anyone's going to believe he's 40" :D. Hence the re-adjustment of John's age in "Kansas".

I believe men walked on the moon as late as 1972.

Ok, I don't really follow actors that closely, and maybe everyone knows in here, but is Ben really 40? I would have guessed closer to 30.

there are definitely continuity errors with Crichton's age. I had supposed that Aeryn might concievably be quite a bit older than John, being that Sebaceans live a lot longer than humans. In my mind this makes her seem even more "alien"-like, but in a cool kind of way.

I don't get hung up on exactly how old the characters are, but if someone really wants to know, perhaps they could ask the cast at Burbank.

and just a thought, but let's not publically pin down actors' ages, as this can affect their marketability for future projects.

Damn, I had figured this out after watching the Locket.
I can't remember the exact numbers, but they quote her age several times in that ep. If you subtract for the time one the planet you'll come up with her age which If I recal was right around 40 cycles

His father was on that first mission to the moon. There is no way Jack was on the moon and in Maine at the same time. It had to be a reference to one of the later missions.

Aeryn's age is dependant upon whether or not a Farscape 'cycle' is equal to one earth year.

From, The Locket:

Aeryn: Well, why don't you come and sit down here, old man, or you'll give yourself a heart attack.
John: Don't-don't-don't you "old man" me, woman. You're 200 cycles older than I am.

Don't know if that helps.

Well I think Ben Browder looks aboiut 10 years younger than he should be. Watch some of his previous roles on "Part of Five,
Murder She Wrote and Grace Under Fire." He just looks So young!
