USA Cancels Western 'Peacemakers'
By Brian Ford Sullivan
CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- USA has pulled the plug on its Western drama "Peacemakers" after one season on the air.
The series stormed out of the gate on July 30 with 5.2 million viewers (4.0 household rating), making it one of the most-watched basic cable debuts in history. By its third week however, more than 40% of its audience had eroded. Industry insiders however say the real cause of "Peacemakers'" death was its older-skewing (50+) audience.
The drama wrapped its run on the cable channel last month.
Charlie Craig, Rick Ramage, Rick Wallace and Larry Carroll were the executive producers of "Peacemakers," which came from Michael R. Joyce Productions.
I wonder why these cable channels even bother trying.

You know why they lost viewers? Cause the first week or two they played it ALL THE TIME. Every time I turned on the channel, it was on. Then, like third week in, they dumped EVERY viewing except Wednesday night at ten. We had something else we watched then and looked forward to the Friday night viewings.
Ick....dang. Not that it was fantastic or anything. It wasn't like...blow me away or anything, but it wasn't bad either. *sigh*

I agree, it wasn't bad, either.

No it wasn't that bad, wasn't great either.
I liked the historical forensics component (better than the current batch of CSI and CSI clones anyway - which I find a bit boring because they generally lack character development. Except for Horatio. Horatio has to be the best, most well developed character on television. :hork: OK I thought I could do that with a straight face. Turns out I was wrong. :lol ).

Another one bites the dust. The show wasn't bad and at times it was quite good. It definately had potential. Sorry to see it go.

While it wasn't my favorite show on TV, I did like it and I'm afraid I must have said that out loud. Anytime I do that, a show gets cancelled. I also liked the forensic stuff - much simpler to understand than most of the other shows like it lately (not like they need to dumb it down for me, but it just seemed more realistic).

It was a good show, not great. USA killed it with their viewing strategy. Not only did they scale back the number of times it was shown, but they pulled it off the air for about a month for tennis. Honestly, I forgot to record it once they started showing it again. I just don't stay up until 11pm. Can't function as I get up at 5am.
This is why I stopped watching TV. Every show I liked has either been cancelled (Farscape, Firefly, John Doe, Peacemakers) or jumped the shark or otherwise changed to the point of lost interest (West Wing, ER).
Look at Enterprise. It's been kept because of brand recognition. It was no better, in fact was probably worse, out of the gate than Firefly and John Doe. If it were any other show it would not have had time to grow. It is growing, but it hasn't reached it's full potential. Heck, Next Gen didn't really get good until season 3.
About all I watch now is reruns and movies. The Simpsons is pretty much the lone exception.
