FLAX Spoiler
re watching the flax, I have to ask, why have a space ship pwered by manual labor and blast furnaces. How would this be possible? What was the writers logic in this? Of all the episodes this bothers me the most. Here we are, flying through space, "hey Bob, open the furnace and shovel some coal" ......
What the frell?

Maybe the raw material powers a nuclear reactor of some kind?

Hey, maybe FTL is so efficient, it doesn't actually take that much power for a small ship. Or maybe that was just providing heat for "lukewarm fusion" or some other bizarreness.
But truth be told, I thought that power source was really flakey too!

You people need to hear Rygel's speech from "I Shrink, Therefore I Am" again... ;)

Hey, relative ease of suspension of disbelief is totally different from denying facts when they hit you over the head.
I'm a scientist, dammit.

Any matter is potentially fission/fusionable. I'm just thinking a reactor along the lines of the time machine in back to the future 2.

mmmmm..... Mr Fussion..... Now this is totally off topic but I thought it was a funny little story about the American gov't. After the release of either Back to the Future 1 or 2 (can't remember. Honestly I'm lucky to remember my name from day to day) the Defense Department(or something like that, again fuzzy memory) sent a letter to the series creators Robert Zumeckais and Bob Gale that they need to share any information that they may have about fussion and the use of cold fussion, or they would take legal action to seize any information they might have.
Just a little chuckle.

Ok, Its real simple!!!
Fuel for the flame,
which causes heat,
Heat causes water to boil,
And therefore steam comes forth.
Steams force the turbines to turn and turn,
Causing gears and move and spin,
Spinning parts fitted with magnetic components,
Components generate an electromagetic field causing atomic fission.
This fission is limited only by the source of fuel, the more fuel (levitation dolls) the faster Stanz (heartthrob of Dargo) can move through space.
Any Questions!!

Maybe the engine pumps in/makes anti-matter through some unknown process and you just have to throw in reactants. IE anything made of normal matter.

Maybe he used steam to drive as much of his ship as possible to reduce its electromagnetic signature so as to not draw attention from the pirates. By keeping her froonium power source running at the bare minimum, she was able to create a 'poor man's cloaking device.'
