Okay... anyone else really hating Loren? What a vindictive bitch. She knew before she asked Vaughn that he knew the truth about it... and instead of getting the info from her husband... she ratted out Syd. Nothing like a woman scorned... eh?

The whole dream sequences seemed a little forced... like TPTB are being blunt with the imagery so that we, the viewers, don't have to think about it.

I am getting a little tired with some of the directions that the writers are going... I knew what was going to happen 5 minutes into the show... it played out like any number of other secret agent shows. I sure hope the writing gets a bit better... otherwise, I don't know if I will continue to watch this show.

I watched it...feel the same way. Yadda yadda yadda...although my husband's interest was piqued at next week's trailers.

SPOILERS FOR NEXT WEEK

He thought it was somewhat cool that they were going to break into an AMERICAN institution to get her out. I'm sure it's just cause hubby trains most of the guards/security at installations like that and he wants to see how it goes...but still, it got him interested. First time they've acted that way on American soil as far as we could recall.

After last week I didn't really feel like watching, but I did anyways. There were a few things that redeemed this episode for me.

The first was Sloane and Sydney on a mission together, especially when they had to dance (although it would have been even better had Sydney had on one of those fun costumes and wigs!). I have always thought there is something major that we don't know about their relationship (that Sydney does not know herself). At first I thought it was the whole Project Christmas from the first season, but that ended up being dad, so I'm at a loss for that theory.

The second was when Sydney went to the apartment in Rome. I wanted to find out more about it, wanted to look around more, and then bam! Those dudes showed up!

I kind of liked the whole flashing dream sequences with the angels and stuff, it looked cool.

I think next week will be interesting with, Syd's dad, Sloane, and Vaghn going in after her. It'd be even better if they took along Marshall with them :)

The best parts of this episode? All Marshall. One hundred percent. When he saw Sloane and went through that Good/Evil thing, I about wet my pants. And the stuff with the car? Fantastic. When he lost the car...that was too cute. Marshall is the redeeming character of the show this season for me.

Want my theory on the Sloane/Syd thing? This isn't spoilers cause I'm just throwing it out there.....but you may want to look away now just in case I'm brilliant enough that this actually IS the truth.

I believe that Sloane is REALLY Syd's dad. Somehow somewhere along the way...Don't have a clue about that. But in the first season there was some MAJOR tension and underlying stuff between Syd's dad and Sloane. Just made me think that was possible.

I also think that, in light of last week's "resurrection" of Allison...that Emily is still alive and she is, in fact, running the Covenant. So Sloane is getting the best of both worlds. He's able to come out and make himself look "decent and good" now...and STILL run the Covenant. It would explain the Covenant's interest in Syd.

That's the other thing I wanted to say. They had a sort of cliffhanger with the 'indestructable' Francie/Allison and then didn't say a word about it this week.

If Sloan was Sydney's dad, then why would Jack be so protective of her?

I think Emily is alive as well, she's like Scorpy, she always comes back!

Because we don't know what might have transpired between the two men. And he DID raise her. He would love her and maybe want Sloan to be kept away from her.

I dunno. No solid evidence. Just something I threw out there.

I've been a little disappointed with this new season (ok, ok, a lot disappointed), but I agree that this ep kinda redeemed itself. I agree that teaming up Sloane and Syd was a good move. I agree with grinner that Lauren should take a long walk off a short pier. I, being the pathetic shipper that I am, was thrilled to see Vaughn tell the hag off and help Syd. Plus, being the good husband that he is, he didn't go any further than he should have in "displaying" his feelings for Syd. Good on ya, mate! And who doesn't love Marshall this season?

I thought the bit with Jack setting up the "kidnap/release" and killing the schmuck in prison was way too contrived and was an insult to his character. The guy has talent and resources like you wouldn't believe, and that's the best they could come up with? Please! I did like the key part with Sloane & Syd. It reminds me of the Men in Black II scene where K has left himself clues in case he gets deneuralized. But, as I asked at Kansas too, how did the NSC find out about the apartment?

They were already tracking Julia Thorne...remember? They just weren't aware that Syd was Julia Thorne.

The apartment...that was cool. :)

I loved the apartment, too! I wish Sydney had more time there to explore. Did anyone see what the medication was, besides that it was prescribed to Julia Thorne (I love that name!).

Marshall is one of the best characters ever. This guy is so diverse, yet unwaivering, he's a paradox.

I liked the episode. I find most television episodes of any show to be very predictable.

Marshall Rocks.

Lauren has yet to do anything to endear herself to me... and I am not that much of a shipper for this show. The only time I liked her was when she was loving the car chase.

Now that Dixon is out (temporarily?) so it would be cool to see the old gang together again with Dixon going on a mission too. :) Maybe he will be demoted for good and team back up with Syd... who knows.
If that jerk Lindsy is the replacement I will throw things at the screen! I swear! (Uck)

Let's see if Lauren helps out.... maybe then will I start to like her... maybe.

When is Will gonna be on? Is he? I miss him.

He was on Miss Match a couple of weeks ago...looking MIGHTY FINE too I might add. Too bad he played such an SOB. But it was still nice SEEING him if you know what I mean. ;) :D

I heard that Will was not going to be in the 3rd season of Alias AT ALL! I really liked how they were bringing him into the system, but now he's off in "witness protection" :(

Will should be showing up sometime in December, I believe the episode that air 12/7.

Also, latter in the year, The Office co-creator and star Ricky Gervais is scheduled to play a villain. That should be pretty cool.

Woo hoo! Cool.

Oh and I forgot to say in my earlier post: The absolute funniest moment was when Vaugne threatened Jack!! I thought, "Is he insane!" :rollin: :rollin: :rollin:

I liked the dream imagery at the beginning, too. Trippy and nauseating all at the same time. And Marshall is fabulous--who would've guessed that he would end up being such a great character?

Okay, now it's time for me to play devil's advocate regarding Lauren, like I did over on Kansas. :ewink: If we can sympathize with Vaughn for lying to her in the course of doing his job, then why can't we extend our sympathy (or at least our understanding) to her for doing *her* job? I'm not a big fan of the character, and I think she made a mistake by running to the NSC right away after talking with Sark. However, it seems like a bit of a double standard to chastise her for doing her job while letting Vaughn off the hook. I don't think she turned Syndey in just to be vindictive (though that might have been part of it), especially given her conversation with Vaughn after the Sark incident. It seemed like she didn't intend for Sydney to be subjected to that surgery, though it also seems naive for her not to realize that's exactly what would happen.

Eh...I just don't like the marriage thing as a whole. Not cause I don't like Vaughn married to someone else, but cause

1) I know that it was a set up just to cause angst between Syd and Vaughn...and as an advocate of marriage, I don't appreciate any storyline that would have people cheering at even the THOUGHT of adultery in marriage. (Sorry...stick in the mud on that one...)

and

2) They have no chemistry. If I felt Vaughn really DID love her and was torn about his love for Syd and Lauren both...THEN I would be interested. Right now it feels like it's just "Woops. I married someone I didn't love and look...the woman I do love isn't dead. Now I'm screwed."

And on a totally different note...I love that they used the name Lauren. My daughter's name is Sydney Lauren..and a few weeks ago when they were talking to them and said "Sydney, Lauren..." I thought that was cool. Okay, I'm a geek...but it was still cool.

Still feeling like I'm playing catchup after missing last week.

I think that the difference was supposed to be that Vaughn was feeling genuinely conflicted over not telling Lauren, while Lauren seemed to tell tell the NSC about Sydney at least partially out of spite. Or at least to avoid an arguement with Vaughn over the subject.

And really, two married people who work for seperate branches of the intellegence community should expect that the other has secrets that they arn't privey to share. Lauren was taking the fact that she wasn't in the know very personally.

Given Lauren's eposides of relative immaturity and naitivity, I'm guessing that she's going to be the one who walks away from the marriage. It would be the 'safe' way for Voughn and Syd to eventually get back together, which is one of the reasons that I hope I'm wrong.

I understand where you are coming from with the Lauren thing... but I think that a lot of people problems with her is that she appeared to be vindictive... when she should have realized what the repercussions would have been to Syd. I mean... she would probably end up in the looney bin... but she was to wrapped up in getting hers.

I think Lauren is representative of peole who are by the book at all times, rigid and uncomprimising.

It doesn't matter, she's toast.

I still don't think this is the correct timeline. A plot twist will happen, if not this season, middle or end of next.
