Longtime followers of this board probably remember KimRB, the mysterious UPN-affiliated individual who showed up shortly after Farscape was cancelled to drop hints that UPN might be interested in the show.
As far as I know, he hasn't been heard from in a while. And while it's looking more and more likely that Farscape will return in some form, I'll be immensely surprised if UPN proves to be a new home for the series.
That said... I think KimRB was telling the truth, and that, at least for a short time, UPN was indeed interested in Farscape.
As I understand it (admittedly, from various rumors and "insider reports" noticed on the Web), Enterprise's badly tanking ratings last season had UPN seriously discussing the unthinkable: cancelling Enterprise at the end of its second season. Obviously, the producers' new "get-tough" attitude for the series ended up saving it for a third year.
But if UPN had decided to cancel Enterprise, they would have had a gaping hole in their schedule, and a huge contingent of alienated sci-fi fans. They'd need a show to fill that gap for at least a year, preferably a proven science fiction property that already came with a built-in audience.
Any contenders coming to mind? (=
So. File that away as a possible "unrealized reality" as we all wait and hope for some good news in the week to come. And remember that KimRB, wherever he is now, gave the campaign a much-needed boost of hope to help power our letter-writing efforts through those rough early days.
