Tiriel's success in contacting Jay Leno and greasing the runway for getting him a Box Set of Season 1, or Best Of, or whatever, was huge... check out that thread here...

http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17161&highlight=Jay+Leno+Scaped

But if we CAN get Leno interested enough to invite somebody from the cast (ideally Ben Browder) onto his show, that would be HUGE. That could inflate the ratings for whatever episodes are airing, repeat or NEW, by a huge factor.

Which leads me to my next question... shouldn't we be trying to reach OTHER Talk Show or Evening Show hosts? What about Morning Shows?

If this has already been discussed in another thread, I haven't been able to develop a search that will weed it out. If there is, then somebody please clue me in.

If there isn't, then what do folks think about the feasibility of this?I'm not really versed in how to go about this... nor do I really know what the difficulties would be... but I would really like to hear what some of the more media and phone savvy members have to say on this.

SETI had a great idea to write to ellen and ask her to invite someone from farscape cast. it's a new show and i think they are more likley to listen to us!

We have not had ANY success with this in the past.

However, when there's new Scape to promote, since most celebs go on talk shows for a reason, it would certainly be worth a try. Especially since Leno's been Scaped!

I agree with Shipscat. It'd be easier to get cast members on these shows once we've got concrete news that Farscape is coming back. Then they'll really have something to talk about.

I just took a little different approach to this and dropped the following note to the Today Show:

Dear "Today",

I'm writing to ask that you consider doing a spot on the Henson Family's recovery of their dad's "The Henson Company" after it languished for several years in the hands of EM.TV. It was just announced on November 13, 2003 that Brian and Lisa Henson have been named Co-CEOs of the company.

I've heard from reliable sources that the critically acclaimed "Farscape" will be making a return and that an announcement of such is forthcoming by way of an anticipated press conference. Henson is also working on a film of Neil Gaiman's "Mirror Mask."

In other activities, the Henson creature shop is responsible for the "deadly" plant in Broadway's current "Little Shop of Horrors" and their film "Good Boy" appears to have exceeded expectations. Also, the company appears ready to move forward with a feature adaptation of Gaiman's "Neverwhere."

I know that "Today" is a fan of The Henson Company and I just saw Kermit the Frog on the show the other day. It would be so great to see Brian and/or Lisa get a spot on the show to tell of the continuation of their father's vision!

Regards,

Perhaps if it's presented to the talk shows as a Henson thing, it might get further along. Everyone knows that Katie Couric LOVES the Muppets! And in reality, there hasn't been much coverage of the Henson siblings taking back their dad's company. Perhaps they're waiting until they're on more solid ground - but I think they should have the publicity!

That's really a great note, and you might be right about the Henson connection.

It's kind of pre-emptive to announce Farscape's return, isn't it? Shouldn't we wait til after the press conference?

Yes, I jumped the gun a bit on the Farscape thing. But if "Today" is interested, let them confront Henson Co. about the status of "Farscape."

And...I used the word"anticipated" which sort of lets me off the hook.

I was just hoping to pique their interest and get someone possibly thinking that this might be a good story - or at best snooping around to find out about a possible press conference!:ewink:
