May have already been posted, but just read this on Karlsweb:
November 15, 2003: Rockne O'Bannon, the creator of Farscape, said this afternoon that he was sorry there was no news he could give us. However, he said, he really should be "at home right now writing hour three." He also said that tomorrow he and about 25 other people will be having a conference call. And that Brian Henson and David Kemper are in Australia at the moment working on something.

Hour three.
Sounds like a miniseries. Damn, I was hoping for a full season.

I'll just be happy to have Farscape back, whether it be a mini-series, a half season, a full season, or a few movies. As long as it isn't animated I'll be one happy 'Scaper. :D
Let's hope that whatever it is that's being worked on is allowed to be completed...

Maybe its 22 hours long!:D
But, then it wouldn't be mini - it would be maxi!
Still, if a miniseries does well, who knows what might follow. If a miniseries is coming, then we all MUST make sure it gets good viewership!
I guess I should go and donate to the TV campaign fund - NOW!:whip:

Uhm maybe I am just totally mind frelled here but the conference call is tomorrow.....Sunday is the first day of the week........Wont it be in the afternoon in Australia when its Sunday morning here.... or should I just go bliss off :)
I found this little tidbit at the tough pigs forums.
I understand the mini series is very close. 8 episodes is the number I've heard. Cast and crew are returning where possible.

As I think about it, "write for hour 3", sounds like a miniseries. I saw the link about it being possibly 8 hrs long. It should be at LEAST that long. I think we are looking at a long miniseries!!!!

Is it possible that they could have gotten a miniseries deal with an option for more installments? Which would basically mean we have to demonstrate more than ever how stong the fan base is.

I would say "YES".
Henson has a history of sticking with their creations (i.e. Kermit, Miss Piggy) and it's clear that "Farscape" could go in many directions with spinoffs, an occasional movie, what have you.
As I mentioned in another post, Brian Henson said he would have given up hope if it weren't for the fans. So, it appears he's coming through for us - and perhaps taking a big risk in doing so.
Now we have to work on delivering Henson Co. an audience! I think that we owe the them that much!!

Well, I can't wait to see what network gets this miniseries...we can flood them with thank you letters!

I completely agree! :) I'd say a mini-series would be a great for launching a new version of the show or a fifth season.

I would be very happy with a truncated season of 8 hours. When I worked to get a final season of La Femme Nikita, we only got 5 eps. I was a happy crusader!

I would be very happy with a mini-series that left us with a better ending than Bad Timing. I would like to hope that the mini-series could lead to another season or more but I would be just as happy with periodic movies that were released over several years.

I'm just popping in with the reminder to write a little letter to networks showing the interest in FarScape hasn't gone from their bulk mail boxes, of course...
As for my opinion re: what form it continues, I'd have to echo the sentiment that I strongly prefer a series, but I'd be a happy pup to see a TV movie, TV miniseries or what have you. My hope would be that a miniseries would lead to resuming a syndicated series for a few more seasons.
FarScape needs at least a couple more seasons (as DK had indicated at one point) and, indeed, with how DK kept bringing up yet other threads, it would seem to need quite a few seasons - a look at the plotting argues that it was nowhere near delivering on nearly all aspects. That's to deal with the existing story threads and characters. Consider the Nebari...
There was someone who just said that Henson has a record of developing its "franchises" if you will, long term? That's a very good point, and is a key point to FarScape's immediate future as well. Were it not Henson project, I may not have made "Continue FarScape" webpages, let's put it that way!
Obviously I'm a Chi enthusiast - but look at Chi; she's just one aspect to FarScape (albeit one of, arguably the, most unique) yet Chiana has all the capabilities of being principal in a FarScape franchise "spin-off." Granted, folks have argued it was more apparant in S1 and S2 before Chiana was adapted into interaction with Jool, Sikozu, or what not, but agree or not the point remains clear. Chiana could easily be adapted as a principal feature to best any other show out there. She's got -
- Strong talent and committment in the performer.
- A distinctive personality and "aura" that not only stands out from the crowd but sticks in viewers' minds.
- Extreme range in strengths for potential material: adventure with a sense of wonderment, dramatic, comic from physical comedy to black comedy to verbal, rings true from sincerity to deception, thievery to vulnerability. I'm missing some more, but the point is made...
- Obviously the not-slight selling point of sexuality, and distinctively at that. Both the look and manner are particularly distinct.
- Being unique. She isn't copying a type, however great; Chiana is Chiana =shrug= "Unique is valuable" indeed.
- Versatility. For goodness sakes, Gi is skilled - dancing, stage combat, singing, the list goes on, all on top of being a first rate actor.
How many programs have that in one character, including their star character?
To my opinion, people are ready for the break to the truly exotic without the safety of "humans" directly featured - provided the focus is fully empathetic. Chi has that mix of exotic and association; she's remarkably alien yet it's still easy to "get" her feelings. I think FarScape is uniquely qualified to pioneer that leap at some point in a spin off.
My point isn't so much that "they should do this or that" as it is to say that FarScape and many elements in it - not only John, Aeryn or yet my case in Chiana - has so much potential that I firmly believe in its future for Henson.

This same blurb is over at Ai'nt it Cool news where they report this as being a four hour mini series. But its from one of Herc's reliable sources who has never steered him wrong so the gory details could be off a bit. Where are the Frelling BUrbank kids to report back to us.

Hmm... conference call with Brian Henson... that just screams at me "FARSCAPE IS RETURNING!!!"
After all, why else would Rockne be having a conference call with Brian?
Is Rockne appearing today (Sunday) at Burbank as well? 'cos if so, there may POSSIBLY be some news then (but I still think it'd wait for the actual press conference).
Oh well. Have to check the net again when I get back from work.

It would seem that they are not allowed to talk about it yet, possibly because of some contract issues. Everybody and everything is indicating that miniseries is in works - and I believe that the three hour rumor is the right one - at least I want to believe that so I won't be facing any more (Farscape related) disappointments. I also wouldn't be surprised if it took weeks before the announcement is made.
But I'm abso-frellin-lutely certain that Farscape is returning.

Any roumors on how many eps of this mini it will be? And stand-alone! Doesn't that mean it will NOT be a continuation of season 4?
PS! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!! Farscape IS BACK! :bounce:

But Chiana is waaaaay smarter than Kim Bauer! :rollin:
Seriously... there really is nothing new. Ben said that he received an e-mail with "talking points", which he proceeded to make fun of. ("We got a call from Homeland Security. They said that any new Farscape would endanger national security. The Scarran threat is real. My wife told me so.") Claudia was practically bursting to say something. You could tell, because every time it was brought up, she'd do something reflexively with her foot. Raelee, Jonathan and David didn't seem to be as bursting with news, but by that time, I think everyone had pretty much figured out that we should let the subject drop.
