Skiffy's Kecksburg special got a 1.5, which explains why it will be getting an "update" later this month. Taken didn't make into the top 10 this week which means its rating was 1.0 or less.

It may only be a coupld of days before we don't have to worry about the ratings SciFi gets (or doesn't get)... They can just fade away into obscurity, only to be remembered as the answer to a trivia question many years from now:
"What TV network first aired Farscape, long before it generated multiple theatrical movies and spin-off series?" :)

I know it's very easy now to club the Scifi channel over the head with their mistake of cancelling the show. But without the Scifi channel you'd have no four seasons of Farscape to base potential miniseries, additional seasons of episodes, theatrical movies or spinoffs upon. Without the Scifi channel, you wouldn't be here or have seen the series Farscape. So savor a victory, without getting too big a head about it!
My greatest fear at the moment is, they bring Farscape back, but on a channel not available to me! :ewink:

I suppose a 'whisper' campaign and the Emmys together can't guarantee Skiffy an audience - *gasp!*.
They might have to return to to a broadcasting model where they have to screen entertainment that's actually worth watching, as opposed to entertainment that has an expensive director/producer attached to it...
Just because Spielberg's people bought an Emmy for 'Taken', doesn't mean that folks are going to be interested in watching it a second time...

SciFi has more than cancelled (excuse the pun) out any goodwill they earned by putting Farscape on the air. When they went back on a public commitment to a 5th season, and killed the best show they've ever aired, without even the decency to let the crew know soon enough to craft a conclusion, they lost me.
Any show they put on the air now would not be worth my time to watch, because I now know that they don't care about the quality of what they air, or whether their shows have any satisfying conclusion So even if they got lucky and found a decent show to air, odds are that they'd just cut the story off at a random point anyway.
Of course, we could only test that theory if SciFi were to ever air anything watchable again in the first place... :)

Well, Davesnothome has a point. They DID air Farscape for four wonderful seasons, and that's MORE then any other network did.
But, as they say in show business, what've you done for me lately? They are entitled to go in any new direction that their Big Cheese wants. I don't have to follow it. I'll be interested for a long time to come to see if that direction pays off, or if they simply "tread water" with this "new direction". But I think only something of the same magnitude as Farscape would ever bring me back to watching that channel. And THAT doesn't seem likely, now, does it?

The thing is, I'd never watch another SciFi series, even if I was told it was the BEST THING EVER, simply because SciFi has proven that they will gut the story of a show without warning or closure. I wouldn't invest 22 hours a year on the hope that they wouldn't screw me again. :)
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

Bonnie has fallen into a ratings trap. She wanted to grow Sci-fi's audience beyond its niche, but in doing so she set herself up for comparisons with less-specific channels that have larger audiences. Simply put, Sci-Fi looks decent against other tiny channels, but not when compared to broader-interest channels that naturally have more viewers. Sci-Fi is a niche channel. It should be left there.
However, Bonnie has alienated a good part of the Sci-fi audience and has little to show for it in new viewers, especially those in a favorable demographic. Growth isn't happening and the formerly-loyal audience is abandoning the channel. I can't imagine NBC putting up with this mess much longer.:whip:
