View Full Version : Brian Henson - if you're watching...

This idea came to me the other day.
WatchFarscape, at least from my perspective, has played a pivotal role in our efforts to bring this show back, I think it would be excellent PR for Henson to offer Red, Waltersgirl, Tiriel, hell everyone who has kept this ball rolling a wee present.
When it comes to filming the new episodes, there will be a need for bit-part actors, stand-ins, extras, for crowd scenes, and so on.
So - why not offer Red, Waltersgirl, Tiriel, Twich, all of those who set campaign rolling, and kept it going so well, just a wee role - something to remember.
"Yup, that's me, third to the left, next to the pillar behind, John, Aeryn & D'argo".
How about it Brian?

Speaking only for myself here,
Henson doesn't owe me anything. I've been working on this campaign for purely selfish reasons. I started working because I want more story. I continue working because I still want more story and because I've come to know and love a lot of really great people here who also really want more story.
Honestly as fun as it would be to be flown down to Australia and hang out on set, I'd rather they put that money into their advertising budget and buy a few more ads.
Cause that would increase my chance to get more story :D
Thanks for the sentiment guys.

You know, there are some logistical problems..SAG cards, Australian rules about extras...
but it's a nice idea.

I did promise Anthony that I would apply as a hair designer for Farscape when the show got brought back. And here we are, days from an official word, and I have no resumé!
So, please PM me, Mr Henson, if you need me to fly to Australia! :)

Wow. I'm honored that somehow you guys think that I could represent sfs.com. That's...:thud:
But in all honesty, there have been a great many people that have done an incredible amount of work on this campaign. The entire campaign, from beginning to end, has been an amazing group effort. It has blown me away. The creativity. The imagination. The generosity. It's all about *everyone* here.
As much as I would LOVE doing that, it's not why I'm here and I don't believe anyone owes me anything. I believe they've already given so much to me by giving me Farscape. Along with that, they've given me this campaign...and all of you. (Sheesh...mush alert!) Seriously. I wouldn't give up this experience for the world. And THAT is why I do what I do. I want to give back to THEM just a small portion of what they've given me. It's also the reason I want to get Farscape out there. I know how much pleasure and enjoyment it's given me and I want to share that with others. I know that the entire staff feels the same way. That's what brought us here. And it's what makes Farscape so special.
 to you guys. Thank you.

I'm sure there are issues like these - but I'm also sure they could, if Henson wanted to, find away to satisfy those requirements, without stepping on the toes, of the relevant union/interest group.
It's just an idea - maybe it won't happen - but I think it would be cool.

As wonderful as it sounds...personally I just want the show to return. This has been a fantastic experience working with everyone here, coming up with crazy ideas, creating tons of ads, flyers, bookmarks, web banner ads, posters, cookbook covers, etc - it's really incredibly fun and a fantastic learning experience - but its all been for one purpose - to be able to sit back, relax and watch new episodes my favorite show!
--> Oh and I have to add - the Chirstmas ep is season four where John shows Aeryn the picture of his cat and Aeryn asks "Does it Talk?" made me one happy happy camper...so in a strange way I feel like I've been sort of thanked! :D

I thought I had heard somewhere along the way that this would violate Australian Acting Union rules regarding exclusivity of talent. Wouldnt any extra have to be a card holding, due paying member of the Australian Actors Union in order to meet government and industry rules? Other than that, Great Idea!!:)

I fully agree with the sentiment that Henson, the cast - everyone involved in the production of Farscape - owes us absolutely nothing. They have been so extremely generous with their time, energy, and passion; I don't think I can adequately communicate how appreciative I am for their sacrifice. The gift that they have bestowed on their audience is tremendous, and I don't think there is any way to repay them that could even be considered sufficient.
I witnessed many, many examples of how generous the cast is at Burbank this weekend. Thank you so much! Thank you for taking the time to speak to fans, for cheerfully enduring hours upon hours of autographs, and for the raw energy you poured into your performances on stage! Folks, these individuals are not just talented, they're also warm, caring - just absolutely wonderful people!
I just want to see more Farscape: the only way I have to show my respect and admiration for everyone at Henson and the cast is to keep fighting for Farscape's return....I intend to do just that.
I am very, very flattered by the sentiment. Truly. However, as others have said before me, nobody asked me to do anything and I did it expecting no reward other than the hope that someday, somewhere, somehow I'd get the opportunity to see the rest of this magnificent story. Just looking at the community that has formed here, the tremendous Farscape family we have, I know that being part of that is my greatest pride.
I am no more deserving of any special recognition than anybody else here. A website is just some bits and bytes, a community is 5,000+ people with a common goal and a common passion. I built a website, you created a community. This is all yours, all of you. You did this. Whatever happens next, you did it. Not me. Not by myself. Not even with the help of a dozen people, but with the help of thousands and thousands, every one of us giving what we could and every contribution the one that made all the difference in the world.
Once again, and because I can't say it often enough, thank you, thank you all.

I never meant that DK, Brian, Rockne or Ben owed us anything. Nor that Red, Twitch, Tiriel and the others were more deserving than anyone else in the campaign. It was a simple "wouldn't it be cool" thought, and Red, Tiriel, and Twitch and the others. . . oh frell hell yeah I think they're most deserving of this particular "wouldn't it be cool" thought.
Did that make any sense?
I think I get what you mean, DZ_Crasher. It's just, you know, if such a "wouldn't it be cool" moment were to happen, man, I wish I could think of some way to get 5,500 people down to Oz. Maybe a "Cleopatra" sort of thing - "Farscape: With a cast of thousands." Now that would be cool. :lol

I have always had the fantasy that when Farscape premiered its new premiere ep, that maybe they would put something at the start credits or the end credits. Something like "For you Scapers", or "Thank you for believing in us", something simple that we know is for us.
Not that i need it, the return of Farscape is all that i want and need, but wouldn't that be so cool and make your eyes fall of all the crying....hehehehe
DZ_Crasher
11-18-2003, 07:42 AM
Red, exactly. However 5500 extra's (especially with the flights and stuff) isn't even a fantasy. 5 people are. And as far as I'm concerned I would be proud and happy to have you represent me in that case. Like I said, just a "wouldn't it be cool" moment.

Yes, DZ, it would be very cool
But while I understand the sentiment, I personally think Brian and the others have already let us know many, *many* times just how appreciative they are of what we have done for the show. Namely, that through our collective efforts, we have managed to create an environment that has apparently made it possible for them to get investors and, presumably, a network interested in the show.
Lisa Henson has thanked us on behalf of her family. Rockne has thanked us. DK has thanked us. Ben, Claudia and the other actors have thanked us. I would hate to give them the idea that we are looking for *anything* (other than our damn show :ewink: ) in return.

Yeah, it was. And sometime the ideas float and sometimes they don't. If they don't, it doesn't mean that you are a bad person, or that people don't like you. It just means that this particular idea didn't work out.
So you you pick yourself up and start brainstorming your next idea :D If you try often enough something's bound to catch on.
If you've got any ideas about how to raise money for the Library Project I'd love to hear them.

S_M, it was a very sweet suggestion. And it brings out a lot of good, and gives us a chance to say things we have had on our mind. Like what I am about to say.
This show, and all that it has brought to me, all the friends and fun and even the pain and sadness, and especially the love -- this fight -- is it's own reward. I keep saying, I just want my show back -- that's ALL. I want the cast, crew, and fans -- who, all together, make Farscape a living entity-- are happy. That's a lot, and it's nothing, but most of all, it's all I want.
People, remember, you all ARE Farscape. You are all part of the history of this incredible production, and your actions here ARE your walk on role. You are Moya's blood. You are the atmosphere that the characters breathe. Without an audience to love the show, and to fight to continue being an audience, Farscape would never have existed, and would not exist yet again.
I wish, deeply, that those who were not at Burbank could have seen the expressions on the cast's faces when they spoke of fan support this year. The awe, the pride, the gratitude, the love. Frell. They all know. They know.
I don't know if you all completely understand how AWESOME YOU ALL ARE! Your grandchildren will tell the story of what Farscape fans did, much in the way our families talk about legendary World Series games. You are television history, and in not so many years, you are part of the folk legends of our age.
"Who on earth do you think you are?
A superstar? Well, alright, you are!
Well we all shine on, like the moon and the stars and the sun
Well we all shine on, everyone, come on!"

Ok ok, so fans-as-extras are out (which is a damned shame because I'm skinny and short - great for make-up). What about a diary-style series of 'making of' vids during production? Bahh. Guess that wouldn't work either considering the main peeps are on another side of the planet from where production would be if it [the mini] were to be made. I'm sure there's hopefully no longer a shortage of Oz-bound scapers, though.
Yunno, it's too bad they're being so secretive about things - would have been great to see all the deals go down in the background - win or lose - it would have made some fantastic drama.

Most studios don't open their doors to the public because if they did, they'd never get work done. For all we know, however, "making of" things could be in the works -- but they have to make the show again first.
I prefer that they put all the money back into the production. They need every penny. And they have thanked us well enough already.

Sawyer's Miller  Great idea, but what are you up to? Are you trying to KILL the gals?!?! I've been hunting them with a camera for three quarters of a year now and can't get them to hold still! And I've got a small camera!!! :D :D :D
you put them in front of a film-camera and they'll go down in a coronary! :rollin:
I'm with Twich here :) The best possible reward for me would be another three seasons of Farscape :D But my main reason for doing this is, that for the first time, I am getting a chance to pay back to some people who have given me a lot of joy and fun. Hardly ever happens. If you're watching a theater performance you can get up in the end and applaud and holler down the house (and those who know me, know I'm not talking hypothetically here :D) but it's much harder for a TV-show.
All of them put their heart and soul into making Farscape and in the results it shows. And I think, that's why all of us put our heart and soul into giving them a chance to do it right :)
Heh, of course I would love a day on the Farscape set as much as anyone, but, alas, you can't work on a set with tens of thousands of people mooning over the cast :rollin: And that would be the only fair solution, because nothing would have happened if it hadn't been for the large community to stay together and act together :)
And I think that Henson's and the producers and the cast have already paid us back the best way they possibly could: By not giving up either. By believing that we could raise enough hell that someone would give Farscape another chance. By working their tail-ends off to make it happen and give us an end to the story (even if we are still waiting for the final word right now). By sharing our passion.
As Ricky Manning said at some point during the Con: Farscape was a miracle.
Boy, am I glad they DO happen :)

:lol :lol :lol I disavow all knowledge of that, T :ewink:
I know I'm late chiming in here, but let me echo everybody else's sentiments. Thank you all, but honestly, I did this because I wanted to help bring Farscape back. Nobody asked me to do it and I don't think that I'm deserving of anything. Everybody here worked together. Honestly, if we get Farscape back, it's enough for me...

you know what my "reward" has been? watching Scapers come together, brainstorming ideas to get Farscape out to more people. seriously. look at what we've done.
we've put Farscape in libraries across the country and parts of the world.
we've put Farscape in forward Air Force bases worldwide and the squadrons are trading for eps amongst themselves.
we're >< this far from putting Farscape in all 88 US Navy liberty centers worldwide.
when an announcement comes, we'll be moving into high gear to get as many viewers as possible to share the wonders we've seen.
fans have done this. for love of Farscape.
in a small, quiet room i listened. to Jonathan and Gigi and Francesca and Ben. they spoke of love of story. love of craft. of the enormous talent and dedication amongst the cast and crew all focused on the endgame of Farscape. to an actress who played Ophelia speak of finding parallels in Minister Ahkna. to an Oscar-nominated screenwriter invoking the depth of a dominar as he recited a speech from Henry V. to an ethereal wisp weave a song of gratitude on her birthday. and i saw the look in his eyes when introductions were made. a look i'm not sure i ever want to see again, the depth in it frightening.
such came from love of Farscape. from love of rich storytelling. give me more of that, allow me to share in the community that came about because of that and i walk away with a satisfaction few moments in my life match.
