Honestly I can't remember if we did this last year or not, but a couple of recent posts have been working around in my head and I thought that this would be a great way to remind various members of the media about Farscape in February (which will hopefully be around the time the new Farscape is wrapping production and could use a little hold over publicity before it starts airing).

Elmer's Candies makes personalized candy hearts. Check them out at:

http://www.customhearts.com/customhearts/index.htm

The hearts can fit up to 6 letters on up to 3 lines, so we couldn't do anything like "Farscape continues", but we could do things like:

John
Aeryn
4ever

or

Scape
On!

or

Moya
Sweet
Moya

or

Scape
Fans
4ever

You get 4,200 pieces for just $100. Then maybe we could get some personalized cellophane bags or some other presentation-type package. Add a letter, maybe a bookmark or business card, and we could hit 100s of reporters with a cute promotion for a very, very reasonable cost.

Plus we have plenty of time to plan everything and make sure it's all just right.

What do you think?

I know this is a dumb question, but...

will people take candy from strangers?

Well, the good thing is they don't actually have to EAT the candy. You know, it's kind of a visual thing and just a hook to get them to look at the Farscape stuff.

They will if they come from a reputable candy supplier.

In this day and age, people wouldn't take candy from strangers that was homemade.

What if some of them just said

watch
farsca
pe.com

I know it seems kind of lame, but it would take them to a source where they could get a lot of information about Farscape?

I figured that whatever we ended up packaging the candy in would have a bold graphic that included "watchfarscape.com". Also, the marketing materials that accompany the candy would give them specifics about the campaign and the web site.

The candy is really just something cute to make them notice the other stuff, and to give them a reason to think about Farscape.

Hey, that's pretty cool. At first when I read that I thought "oh, putting it that way, it sounds sad". But then, on the other hand, even though they work out, their story isn't always happy. But what's really cool...is...I think that would be a really intriguing hook to get people interested in Farscape.
