The fans of my other favorite genre show - Babylon 5 - were pretty sure we were getting our show back when the Babylon 5 - Legends of the Rangers movie was announced. Unfortunately, it grew a timeslot right up against the NFL playoffs, tanked in the ratings, and our show vanished back into the nearest jumpgate....

So, those who have worked so hard to bring farscape back - remember the work won't be done when there's a miniseries, movie, or whatever the rumour of the moment is - you need to help make sure it gets ratings, so IT won't be the end.... Gotta get people to watch it <g>

Thanks for the warning!! Believe me, we know the battle's not over! We've only *just begun* to fight!!

I guess the hardest part is to get more viewers. Some brainstorming must be made or the miniseries is all we get.

trust me when i say that the staff, at the very least, isn't going anywhere. everyone, EVERYONE, has worked too damned hard to lax up because of the possibility of more.

and definitely. keep brainstorming for more ideas for increasing viewers.

Boy..a lot of that kind of thing depends on when and where...Legend of the Rangers was really unlucky. I hope Farscape gets better treatment.

We have won a major skirmish, now we have to win the war!

It's time to soup up the USS Farscape project. We need every military family loving Farscape. That's a key area right now. If you haven't donated do so today ... or soon. If every memeber on this board donated just $5 we could Farscape all the Naval bases and maybe even the subs.

And don't forget Operation FortScape!! :us: We're trying to put Season 1 boxed sets on every army base in the southeast, and we need everyone's help to do it!

A certain executive producer of Farscape who was in attendance at a certain con (this secret stuff is really catching, huh? :D) said that if you want MORE Farscape, we fans need to GET MORE PEOPLE HOOKED. Now. Not later.

And, yeah, more than we have already. Keep going. One fan at a time, a bunch at a time, a thousand at a time, it all adds up. If you get one person to become a viewer, That person might bring in a few friends, and one of them might come up with a way to bring in a few hundred more...every new viewer is GOLD.

When I joined the campaign, My mindset was the same as it is right now:

I NEVER doubted that Farscape could or would come back.
I immediately accepted the fact that this could and would take years. I do lots of things that take years. I grew my hair out. I plant gardens. Other people have kids, raise livestock, carve sculpture. Time can be a friend, and time is free.
I am 100% devoted to DK's request that we stay a community. This is where we are unified. We are not just makin' like an army, we are growing a TV revolution!
I never stopped enjoying Farscape, and I never will. The most important thing a campaigner can do is watch and love the show, because everything else you do will be fueled by your enthusiasm and love for the show.

So, go, watch Farscape, and turn someone on to the wonders we have seen. You know you want to! :D

Seems like a good slogan to me. Put it everywhere, billboards, posters, on your car, in lights on your house, in every letter or postcard. Carry the call!

Ok was that a little to much?:(

Speaking as an old Babylon 5 fan, there was another serious problem with that movie...it wasn't very good. Even a lot of B5 fans were unimpressed.

I have confidence (and hope) this won't be the case with Farscape's mini-series.

And Legend of the Rangers wasn't REALLY Babylon 5. It was a very weak spin-off idea.

Its possible that Babylon 5: Legend of the Rangers was interferred with by the Sci-Fi Channel in production. Does anyone know if that is true?

As I recall, JMS hadn't complained about inteference with LOTR, and he's generally not bashful about pointing out when the powers-that-be mess with one of his shows - or try to (see Crusade, Jeremiah Season 2, etc.)

SciFi was reportedly pretty supportive, and they promoted it pretty heavily - it just happened that the football playoffs went into OT, and pretty well smashed the ratings.

And no, Legend of the Rangers wasn't spectacular. But it was better than most of the dreck on SciFi (present company excluded, of course<g>)

Sneaking back here to say... MJS ...I love your avatar!

There are a lot of B5 fans around, I have noticed. A lot on Kansas too. Or am I imagining things?

Longtime B5 fan here who would agree with MS on the quality issue regarding that tlevision movie. Point blank, it was a disappointment.

On the issue of fighting for Farscape, I can guarantee that vikingscaper and I have NO INTENTION of quitting! I would also feel pretty safe in stating that this statement would be true for most of the Twin Cities Scapers! In fact, we are just about to start our third regional DVD project.

Well this B5 fan isn't going anywhere either. That said, the San Francisco Scapers have already got a website up for our Farscape con next fall. See banner below. And we're already only a week or two away in choosing the hotel for the venue of the con!

I heard that JMS wasn't given very much time to write the B5 Rangers script. I think if he had had more time, it would have been a better movie. I did like seeing G'Kar again, though. Btw, there are rumors of a new B5 project right now. I hope JMS gets enough time to write it this time, & I hope it's the Telepath War story.
