Hey there!
Our area's a bit lacking in Scaper groups, so I thought I'd dive in the deep end and get this thread started.
I for one would dearly love to get to know some people a bit closer to 'home.' Even if that closer is still out-of-state.;) There's a lot we can do in our area, a lot that needs to be done, (like Scaping the Intermountain West!) and we need to get together to do it by pooling our resources and energy.
I have an unused website I would happily give over to the group that forms. I'm completely clueless webwise, so hopefully someone'll join who knows a bit more. :) If not, I suppose we could all muddle our way through together. :D
Um, :dunno: a little bit about me? Female of the species, single, no kids, works full time (in other words, besides work, devotes life to Farscape;) ). I've lived in Utah most of my life, except for a four or five year stint living in Estes Park and Allens Park, Colorado.
Anyone interested?

Glad to see that you are starting a group RF! My suggestion, if the mods don't care, is to cross-post it to Campaign Strategizing. That's what Mysterious Stranger, and I did when we started our groups. It works really well for hooking people. Have you started a Yahoo Group?

Congrats on the start-up of a new group, RF! I hope that it is a success!

:ewink: is this a trick question?
OK, OK...I'll be good ;) This is a fantastic idea...There are a number of people in denver metro [more or less] and we have managed to meetup a couple of times ... so, do you want this to be all states in the mountain timezone?

:lol Whoops!
Yes, I think all states in the Mountain time zone would be cool. :aok: I think there are smaller Scaper groups in Arizona and New Mexico, if I'm not mistaken... Phoenix and Albuquerque areas, I think.

I sent someone your way today from Boise Idaho....told him about the group and to look you up. Hope it goes well.
Count me as a virtual Intermountain Scaper since my home is really Wyoming. Just stuck in Jersey with the Air Force for now. :D

I hung-out with a couple of the Arizona Scapers at the con (Debalee & MesaScaper). You may want to PM them, and see if they would like to join.

Well, I'm from Colorado. I kinda suck at meetings though (never enough time). But a mountain group would be kinda cool...

i'm basically at the very bottom tip of the mountain group in Las Cruces, but I'm up for discussions and ideas and such!

It's good to see that there are some other Utah 'Scapers here. I haven't posted much on these boards, but thought that I would take a look and see if there are any other Farscape fans in my area, and here some of you are. Hope to get to know you!

So have there been any new developments with this? Cause I think it would be cool to get all the mountain states together. A website or something sounds like a good idea :D

Ooo! Ooo! Who was the Boise 'scaper, Twich? That one, plus moi and the two rabid 'scaper guys I work with, would make, um, er, carry the two, ah, er, FIVE! And here I thought I was the only one...
Thanks for starting this, Rescue!

I know this thread is a little old...hope you don't mind me resurrecting it but we just moved back to Utah and would love to get to know anyone else in the area. We are in St George but both have lots of connections up around Salt Lake...is there a scene in this state at all?

You can always sign up for a meetup. We met last month and it was pretty darn enjoyable.

What is this meetup you speak of? How do you sign up? I'd really like to get to know some local Scapers.

Oh, poor saberwielder76! If Aeryn were here she'd say, "You and your timing."
Meetups were last night. The apparently arbitrary International Farscape Meetup Day (and time) is the first Wednesday of the month at 8 p.m. Go to farscape.meetup.com and put in your zip code or hunt for Salt Lake City and go from there. They should have a way for you to vote for the venue of next month's meeting (June 2). Then about a week before that, you'll get an email telling you what venue won and asking you to R.S.V.P. Then you show up and get to know some other Scapers in your area in person.
Last month our little Denver meetup group (6 people) hosted a fan table at the Starfest convention where Lani Tupu and David Franklin appeared. We had prize drawings and sign-ups to get people's email addresses. We invited them to join our brand-new Colorado Scapers Yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ColScapers), and in less than three weeks we have 27 members.
Last night there were ten people at the meetup, and we Scaped an unsuspecting guy who just happened to be in Starbucks at the time. LOL
Go for it, saberwielder76! It's less than four weeks away.
Fly safe.

Also, be sure to pick a large city in your area. The closest town may not have enough people. Fandom for the show just keeps building. Colorado Scaper here, but then some of you know that.

Well, I signed up at the meetup site. Only problem is that I am booked on Wednesday night for the next 4 weeks, so I most likely won't be able to do the meetup thing until the July one. :irked: So what usually goes on at these meetups?

I did this meetup thing, can't go, it's passed my bedtime. It's true, i'm in bed usually at 7. I'm up for a group though. I'm thinking of having a gathering at my home and watching some Farscape on my 300" screen. I need to take care of some things first.
I don't visit this area very often, so keep me posted.

Anyone going to the SLC meetup tonight? It'll be the first one for me. What usually goes on at these?

I just joined the Farscape meetup site. Too bad the SLC meetings are so late, they are SO close to me :( . Oh well, I'll just have to E-Scape alone for now..

I think I found your group on meetup.com. I live in Greeley and would like to find a 'Scaper pen pal. I'm mid-thirties Mom of of two who works at a bookstore part time and is a huge fan of the whole cast of Farscape.

Hey...if you're looking for a pen pal or internet buddy, this is the place. :) Maybe you could start a new thread for that.
I'm a mom of three and originally from Wyoming. :) Now I'm in Jersey and on my way to Texas courtesy of the USAF. :)

I don't know if anyone is still actually reading these posts, as the last one before mine was quite awhile ago, but I am a new Farscape fan currently living in the glorious state of Montana. Since the show is now off the air there's not alot for us "newbies" to get involved with, so any type of regional website, meeting, etc. would be great!

well there's the whole emmy thang [see campaign or front page] honestly the best bet is to simply start interacting with others on the boards and then you may run across those who would live closer... closer being relative... seems like atomicblue lived in idaho, but she hasn't posted much recently. Also you may find that if you convert people around you, a group can form close by. A number of us are in Denver, bet thats what 500 miles, minimum? Seattle might actually be closer... theres a pretty good sized group there... just keep looking around...
