I was reminded in another thread of all the old shows that I loved when they were on. I was wondering what shows people miss most. Not necessarily shows that were cancelled, or cut short, like Farscape (but not anymore!!! :joy: ) but just classic shows that you miss.

Granted, I wasn't alive when some of these shows first aired, but God bless Nick at Nite is all I can say! Oh, and TVLand, too!

I miss, in no real order:

"I Love Lucy" (Hello friends! I'm your Vitameatavegamin girl!)
"Cheers" (Norm!!!)
"Mr. Ed"
"M*A*S*H"
"I Dream of Jeannie"
"Bewitched"

hmm. That's all I can think of for now. What do you all miss?

I know what you mean. I watched it every week. It was so good that you couldn't want for more of the story.

I Love Lucy and M*A*S*H were before my time. I wasn't born until '78 and Cheers was on when I was too young to watch it. But, I watch it now on Nick@Night.

I was born in 79' and I watched Cheers. I've watched regularly, everything that Grinner said (except Blake's 7, was that ever on in the US?). I've never seen Fraiser and when the M.A.S.H music came on I knew it was bedtime, but I have seen Cosby, though I never much liked it. I used to watch alot of Dr. Who reruns and the Uncle Floyd show, myself(I think the last one was a local thing though). I also remember watching Bewitched and Romper Room religiously before going to kindergarten everyday.

Yes... Blakes 7 was on in the US. That is probably the ONLY time I have watched PBS in years... was because of Doctor Who, Blakes 7, Red Dwarf, and The Two Ronnies... oh and Fawlty Towers

Oh and it is Doctor Who... NOT Dr. Who. Dr. Who were 2 movies starring Peter Cushing that were made to EXPLOIT the Dalek Mania of England in 1965/66. Read the article I posted about the Daleks that is part of the reason that the BBC and the estate of Terry Nation.

I also watched Moonlighting. That was one of the shows I had watch ever week just because of the relationship between Daviad and Matty. And I use to watch the reruns of Twin Peaks when it was on Bravo.

Does anyone remember "Small Wonder" it was on i think in the mid 80's. I had forgotten about it until i saw it on VH1's 80's show.
I thought it was so cool at the time & i wanted to be a robot just like the little girl.

OK thinking back on it now, that show sucked!!

hi,

I remember that show. I use to watch it all the time it was on. But, like you, I also think that it is stupid now.

They show Faulty Towers on Saturday nights here...it's on a local public television channel though...but you might be able to find it on your public television channel. And I do agree that I wish they woud show Red Dwarf...it used to be on at like midnight...but that's too late for me to be up watching TV *looks down at the clock and realises it's 11:30*

Other favorite shows that I miss...

okay, I'll admit I used to love Full House...I still watch it sometimes on Nick @ Nite

I also love:

Bewitched (the black and white eps were best...not that I was around when they first aired)
Highlander
Sliders (until season 5 where they killed off the main character)
The Cosby Show is kinda cute (he kinda reminds me of my dad)
And I still watch Scooby-Doo on cartoon network...even though i've seen every episode a zillion times (as reruns....cause I wasn't born when they came out originally)

Well, I can't think of any other shows off the top of my head...i'll come up with more about 2 am as i'm laying in bed...so i'm gonna leave it at this now, adn go post elsewhere...

Faulty Towers
Invisible Man (the new one)
Prey
Brimstone
Columbo
The Avengers (the real one, with Mrs. Peel)
Absolutely Fabulous
Monty Python's Flying Circus
Misson Impossible

The 80s was my "party hardy" decade. I didn't watch much TV and don't remember much of what I saw, so I guess I don't miss it.

The Addams Family : this was a favorite. I keep waiting for the series to come out on DVD. I hope it isn't one of those shows where the originals were lost. I'm guessing there is some legal glitch or dispute holding up release

The Prisoner: 1960's british ex-spy show with Patrick McGuin (spelling?). He plays a spy kidnapped by an unknown group and brought to an island community for interogation. You never knew who exactly were the other prisoners and who the guards. Interestingly, it started just after Secret Agent ended, in which he played the main character there. Just coincidence I think.

Lassie: this was the show I could not miss when I was pre-school. My parents tell me I would cry when the episode ended and insist they make another episode come, but that was before VCR's.

Twin Peaks: I was really addicted to this one, unfortunately it really lost its way for many of the middle episodes and just meandered on a lot of useless plot side roads. It got better at the end when it returned to the main story, but then finished by killing a lot of characters and a real cliffhanger. I got the feeling Lynch just wanted to be done with it.

La Femme Nikita: I could never get into the TV series. I had seen the original French movie and it was much better. The TV series didn't measure up to it.

The Avengers: I was pretty young when it was broadcast in the USA and probably missed a lot of what was going on, but it was just so neat to watch.

It wasn't a coincidence- The Prisoner was a sequel to Secret Agent Man- it shows what happens after he "retires". Great show- all 17 episodes are out on DVD too...
