Hi all!
It's the end of the semester for me, and life is quite hectic! :sweaty: I have two 10-12 page papers due soon, and a 6 page project. Plus, the four finals that I have. :headbang:
I know many of you are in the same boat, so I thought I'd make a place where we all can commiserate.
I was wondering, what is everyone's major/minor/concentration/and what-have-you?
Also, what year is everyone?
If you want to say where you go, feel free!
I am an English major with a concentration in literature. I will graduate from Immaculata University on May 16th, 2004!!! I can't wait. While I'm excited, I'm also nervous about having to be out in the "real world."
Well, good luck to everyone with their papers and exams and such!

I am a Geography major with a minor in Cartography/Geographical Information Systems. I will finally be graduating in May although I was supposed to graduate in December, but that is a long story. I have attended University of Wisconsin-River Falls for my entire college career.
I have a pretty easy ride to the end of the semester minus a group project that includes a seven page paper and a presentation. I also have to do a 1-2 page paper about something controversial in my major for my Senior Capstone class. I have a feeling that 2 out of my 5 finals are going to be easy.
I'm a third year Philosophy major at the University of Ottawa. I just transferred here after two years at the University of Waterloo where I majored in English/History.
I'm in the same boat as you! Two 10 page essays due ASAP!
One is based on Achebe's "Things Fall Apart" and the other is a historical argument on Swedish neutrality in the second World War.
Good luck to everyone on their exams!

I go to CSUN, Anthropology major, thirdish/fourthish year. Graduating next fall! YEAH!
Yup, finals around the corner, one folkore project, two lab write ups, one paper comparing my text to two ethnographies I am reading, one other story, another text, oh and helping another researcher. (I know I am missing something and I really should be studying right now ;) )

I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in May of this year, with a bachelor's in geology (minor in biology). I am now attending the Colorado School of Mines, where I am studying environmental science and engineering. It's a master's program, thank GOD, I don't think I could handle a PhD right now!
I have a presentation I have to give next wednesday on in situ biostimulation of a contaminated wepons site in New England.... my partner and I have just started working on it and now she is gone to Nebraska for Thanksgiving! I have no idea how we are going to get this thing put together in time. I really need to work on my time management skills.
Other than that, I am sooooooo looking forward to christmas break, I can barely stand it. I NEED a vacation! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I am a non degree graduate student at Arizona State University. I got my undergraduate degree in English Lit. and minored in history, focusing on Asia. This semester I am applying to ASU's MFA creative writing program. Despite what people may have heard about ASU's status as a party school, once you get to graduate level, many of the departments are excellent. ASU is among the top schools for fiction...so cross your fingers that I get in. After I get my MFA, I plan to get a vet tech degree so I can work with animals, and because you can't just be a writer. You need to have another job. So, next semester I will be taking classes that I can transfer to my vet tech degree (biology, math, etc...subjects that I am a little rusty on, so I'm worried.
As far as what I have to do...I have a 20 page paper due when I get back from vacation. I haven't started it. It's on Virginia Woolf, and her views on imperialism as expressed through her fiction. And I still have a great deal of reading before I can get to the actual meat of the paper.
So...like eta, I need to work on my time management skills. Or really, I need to develop some, since I don't seem to have any.

I'm an accounting major at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. In terms of my degree, I'm a junior. In terms of overall hours, I'm a senior because this is my third degree, so I have lots of transfer hours. I already have a BA in Latin American Studies/Spanish and an MA in teaching English as a second language. I decided to go the practical route this time! The rest of my semester is pretty light until finals because I only have 3 business law quizzes to worry about.

At this point, I am getting real nervous about being let go from the confines of college and being let out into the world. I hope that I will be able to find a job in my field because I have heard that there isn't much available for Geography majors right now but at least I have awhile to look for something. At times, I also wish that I could stay in school forever but my advisor seems like he wants to get rid of me ASAP. Best of luck to those who are just entering college and for those who have been in college for awhile.

Yeah, my one professor who's also a friend, has decided that after I graduate I'm going to get my Master's b/c it's only 9 more credits, and then I'm going to become a college professor.
Evidently she has my life planned out for me...too bad I don't want to teach! LOL
We'll see. Who knows? 5.5 months is a long time away still!
You and me, vikingscaper, let loose on the unsuspecting public! God save the world! :rollin:

and if you all think papers are time consuming.........try art projects for a while..........I'm taking four studio classes this semester....so before and after Thanksgiving weekend....i have had no life.....and won't have one until the 3rd week of december.....so i am in the same boat as the rest of you......

i think i have to agree, art projects take longer...
friend of mine just started being an art major, and all he does is draw, come to my house and use my scanner, then go back to drawing...
and when he's not onthat cycle he's painting...
i'll take my physics papers any day over art projects...cause if i copy alot of people it's research ;) but if an artist does it's plagerism...
gotta love out world eh?

It's research as long as you give proper credit to the people you're copying. If you don't give them credit, that's plagarism. (Says the former English teacher. :) )

I attend Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE, working on a degree in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing. Actually, I attend from afar, since I take my classes online or as telecourses. I love not having to sit in a classroom for hours, but it sucks having to take more time reading and studying. I forgot how much I hated homework! I started classes in 2000, but I am only a part-time student, because I work full-time. One of our profs has been making us do videotaped presentations this quarter, and they really bite! You can't use notes and it has to be 10 to 15 minutes long. I can usually BS pretty well, but I'm not a big fan of being videotaped. I'm not Paris Hilton - it's just not my thing! :ewink:
This quarter has been a little hairy, since I'm homeschooling my nephew also. By the time we get done with his classes, there's not a lot of time left to work on my homework. I feel like I've been microwaving my assignments, but I'm finished Dec. 16 - just a little bit longer! Of course, my next classes start the beginning of January, but it will be nice to even get a little break. I can't get my required math class online, so I'm going to have to take it as a correspondence course next semester in addition to my online classes.
So, just how much sleep do you really have to have in order to survive?

who needs sleep anyway?
i don't...i've been up till 6 am, taking a shower and going to class at 7...
i just find it ironic that my thesis is on wormholes....and right after i started on my thesis i saw farscape for the first time...which was this summer :aok:
eh, time to go back to the books and keep proving that gravitons exist and wormholes are possible...or go watch "we're so screwed"
yes, it's all about the "research"

Well fellow inmates! :P Today marks the beginning of the last week of classes for me. I have one class tomorrow, and one on Thursday and then I am done until finals!
Unfortunately, I have two massive papers between me and freedom. You can see how much I really want to work on them, too, as I'm here...at the FMD...
Once again, good luck to all!

My last class is next Tuesday...then I only have one final...but it's at 7:40 am!
7:40? I can't think at 7:40. I took a 9:15 class this semester, and that's a big step for me. The last two years before now, I have gotten away with not taking anything before noon.
But I can't be excited about the semester being over until I have my paper and my grant project done.
Until then...the only word is...
FRANTIC!

My classes don't end until Dec. 16, so I have a long 2 1/2 weeks ahead of me. I have a videotaped sales presentation due tomorrow that I was supposed to have mailed in Friday. My camera girl has had the flu for a week, and so I haven't even filmed it yet! After this it shouldn't be too tough for the rest of the class. I am definitely ready for a break! The second my Econ class is over, I'm doing the happy dance!

I'm going to be 23 this month, and guess what? I can't run on three hours sleep like I did when I was a freshman! Now I need at least eight!
I thought I was going to be at least 30 before that happened!

*L* Man, now I feel young. ;P I'm doing the go-to-bed-at-4-AM-wake-up-at-9-AM deal right now. Well, it (college) is interesting so far, but it's hard to meet new people and make friends. *easily intimidated* -_-;

Landscape Architecture Major at a Big Ten university. You'd have to guess which one. I really don't feel like giving my job description spleal at this point, but I will say this, I'm a designer, I don't plant anything. That has to be the most frustrating thing about my major, describing it. I'm off to work on projects for about 6 hours or something, my life will be like that for the next week. If nothing else, I get to get high off markers, alot, It takes the edge of the work. :)

I'll be 24 before too long, but my body feels like it's 40. I quit being able to survive on 3 hrs of sleep a couple of years ago. I waitressed until I was 20 or so, and never had a problem with working late nights, living on caffeine & junk food (ok, and beer), and never sleeping. Now if I get less than 7 hrs, I have dark circles under my eyes and I look like I've come off a 3 day bender! I can barely function at work the next day (you know, when I'm playing around here & working on homework instead of actually working)! It's so depressing...

Although don't let that fool you, last semester I interned and worked and took 6 classes, I didn't have one day off and only really slept on the weekends before work. It is really nice to have a break.

I'm trying to pull off an English/Philosophy double with a minor in Legal Studies (ack!). All that is in preparation for law school. I'm in my third semester, but I'll be a junior next semester according to credit hours (although, with the number of classes required to complete my majors and minor, I'll be lucky to get out of here in four years).
For my Advanced Compositions class, I have to give a presentation based on the topic I've been researching since the semester started. She told us to pick something that interested us, but I didn't think she really meant anything. I could've done it on Farscape! I would've actually enjoyed it :headbang: . Ah, well...should'a, could'a, would'a.
I also have a paper due in my Intro to Moral Philosophy class. It was actually due last Tuesday, but class was cancelled. :dunno: Works out fine for me...that was one less thing I had to do over break.
I'm the least concerned about finals (although maybe just a tad more so on my French). I just want them to be done with so that I can take an intellectual break until my most hellish semester yet (I will be moving into the English building at the start of next semester, as that's where I'll spend most of my time anyway  ).
Well, I guess I've bored everyone enough with my lamentations...I'll get back to work.

Keep your chin up, kiddo, things'll get better. Or, as my 7th grade math teacher used to say, "Cheer up! Things'll get worse!" LOL He was a mean man! hehehe
The reason I got no work done over the break was b/c I was sick in bed with the worst cold thing I've ever had. So now, I'm behind on a lot of stuff that I had put off, hoping to get it done over the break. You know what they say about procrastination...
