View Full Version : Who's cooler?

Who's a more badass, awesome character? Harvey or Scorpius?
I'm asking cause they're both very cool, and I always try to quantify who's cooler. I always think Scorpius is cooler when I'm watching a Scorpius scene, and that Harvey is cooler when I'm watching a Harvey scene.
I understand that not everyone likes to quantify the characters by ranking them as "best". I do though, and I'm interested in seeing the opinions of others who do.

Harvey!!! Wayne (I think) has been better able to grow the Scorpy character thru Harvey much better than as Scorpy himself (IMHO).

I think Scorpy's and Harvey are equal and unique, but I voted Harvey ;)

Harvey's cooler, 'cos he's a musician and plays drums.
Scorpy scares the pee out of me (when I don't want to hug him like a puppy).
And Harvey gets all the cool duds, too. :harvey:
And I bet he dances.

Aw man, I can't make a decision. Too...hard. They're both awesome/badass in their own rights. *implodes*

Scorpy.
I like the more... internalised... characters.
Harvey would be great at a party, but I gotta go with Scorp.

I don't tend to think of Harvey as a character in his own right.. more a fusion of John & Scorpy.
So, should he be rechristend Scohn or Jorphy?

Scorpy: more badass and scary.
Harvey: more fun (it's kind of hard to be badass in a pink fluffy bunny costume).

Argh! Hardest...decision...ever!
I love both of them to death, but I ended up voting for Scorpius. There is nothing better than a villian you just cannot figure out. Is he good? Is he the most evil guy you've ever met? What the frell is his motivation! I just love to hate Scorpy! :D

Why was "Stellar" not a choice in your poll?
I voted Harvey because of his intimate knowledge and appreciation for the human psyche. Scorpius will always be more "alien" to JC than Harvey is and can therefore be more overtly deceptive.
Plus Scorpy could never pull off the Mambo shirt, or the bunny outfit.

Harney's ahead buy a "head"? He just gets to be so versatile. One minute a nag & nuisance, the next - the butt of John's jokes. He does know the human psyche in a manner that Scorpy just can't. He's nuts!

Scorpy. Complex, intriguing, opaque thought processes, intelligent, driven, relentless.
Harvey is a fluffy bunny, fer cryin' out loud!*grin*

I vote Harvey. He's the character with the most costume changes...you never know what he's going to be next. He's like a chameleon...a big pink fluffly chameleon...
Tough choice, but I had to go with Harvey.

Considering THIS is Farscape, anything can happen. I won't be surprised if Scorpius later on wears both a Mambo shirt and Bermuda shorts. :D

I thought all of that went out of style with blue jean jackets covered with buttons with the names of hair bands on them.

While it's totally your world grinner, I hope you'll forgive me for getting back to topic for a microt.
I think it depends on your definition of cool.
I'd say Scorpius is definitely the more "cool" of the two. His whole schtick is control and smooth maneuvering. He is sublimely cool...'cept when the Scarran side gets going. Although physically part of the boy's whole problem is his hot body temp.
Harvey on the other hand, is sublimely uncool. He's willing to dress like a bunny, a thief, dance a merry elfin jig or whatever it takes to get the job done in a way that for Scorpius, if he is not incapable of it, would require an enormous shift for the character. Harvey is simply more free to make mistakes or take chances. He is more emotionally open. Being that way makes one "uncool" although it requires a separate kind of courage.
Coolness and reserve often go hand in hand. There are pluses and minuses to dealing with life that way. Ditto allowing oneself to appear vulnerable or silly.

Well.... if you people want to be technical about the whole thing...
Harvey is "inside" Crichton (who happens to be at a relatively constant 98.6 degrees F). Scorpius, on the other hand, actually uses coolant rods in his frelling brain to keep his core temperature down. So, arguably, Scorpy is "technically" the "cooler" of the two. :P

I meant coolness as in badass, as in, which character impresses you more. Yes, you can be badass in a Hawaiin shirt, or a bunny suit. It's just harder.

Scorpy is def a badass, he sort of parallels Vader..He's the man in charge and can dispose of those underneath his command at will..
But Harvey is cool to, nice to see Scorpy in a different light..

Voted for Harvey. Writing a fic about him just now actually....anyways, I think Scorpius and Harvey are both awesome, but I think Harvey has grown in a way that Scorpius cannot ever do, and it's almost 2am so I'm not entirely coherent....sorry guys.

Scorpius is way more badass than Harvey, and yet Harvey too is as awesome as Scorpius. Anyway, for a limited period of time on my own terms I'm definitely more comfortable with Harvey in my head than Scorpius by my side. Having stated that, I'd like to carefully explore scorpy's more intriguing layers.

Meep. How can I possibly choose? Both characters are badass. In the end though I think Harvey is hilarious.
